What's the best way to prepare for a journey?
I have a milita commander, who's now a proficient axedwarf. How the fuck do I get the other member of his squad (a clothier right now) to train? Currently the clothier is just ignoring the squad training order and doing nothing. I think I did something wrong.
make full leather armor out of their parents, and them into loincloths.
No! I'm building an army.
In the arena mode, can I make creatures be on a team?
Yes, while on the creature create screen, you can change team with s and d.
No need... he went insane and now is running around the fortress like a fucking cunt. [editline]12:00AM[/editline] Check OP.
I read the OP but it didn't talk about how to replace the tilesets to my version. I'd rather live in the past than give up the ability to know what's going on. If someone could write out what I'd have to do to keep my tileset in the new version I'd love you forever.

For your convenience, I did it for you. I haven't tested this, as I prefer the default ASCII to anything else, but it should work. Clicky. [editline]06:32PM[/editline] Ninja'd.
There is already maydays tileset in the OP. And with instruction how to fix missing letters.
Haven't re-read the OP in a while, my bad. Nor have I checked this thread in a while, you guys have totaled a ton of posts in a few days.
Holy shit. Guys. You can assign tigermen to noble positions. Edit: And they're set as empty when you unpause it :(
When you say "Change maydayMIX.bmp to mayday.bmp to fix missing letters." Do you mean I should rename MIX, delete MIX, or go into some file somewhere and rename it?
Okay, I want to try to play DF again. Can anyone link me to the best tileset (Easest to read/use) for DF 2010?

ROFL MILITARY IS A JOKE 5 macedwarfs, 4 axedwarfs, 4 crossbowdwarfs, didn't do SHIT to 7 goblins that attacked me. Not even a scratch. Not even mentioning that my dwarfs refuse to use ranged weapons... fucking lame... not playing this until some fix. Disappointed.
Okay, I want to try to play DF again. Can anyone link me to the best tileset (Easest to read/use) for DF 2010?
You can go with the updated May Day's tileset.
Best tileset is still no tileset. What you're doing is like being handed a long lost Greek Epic - in original Greek - and dribbling at it until somebody translates it into Pigin English for you. And misses out all the vowels. Greek up and take it as it comes. The only issue I've had is with combat, it seems to take forever after a creature has collapsed in agony to finish them off. I spent 2 minutes stabbing an unconcious yeti in the face with a pike before I finally squashed its brain. Nothing like the salt water, in fact I even managed to (Attempt to) swim across an entire ocean (Which was SUPPOSED to be frozen) to reach the uninhabited barren icy wastes of the practical continent I had built a fortress on. The fortress was too painful because the cliff I built it into was more of a glacier with no rock to be found and collapsing ice stairways. The map was pretty nice actually, it was a flat icy plain which was an ocean frozen solid with a glacier to one side and a frozen seabed many, many Z levels down.

I'd love to play ASCII, but I can't play more than a half-hour or so before my eyes hurt. :colbert:
I have yet to break into an underground cavern in the new version. About how many Z levels down have you guys found them?
stop being elitists, there's little difference and gloating about it being better in some way that lowly tileset users could never understand, is just stupid.
I was killing everyone in a dark fortress, and I was fighting this one guy. I grabbed his head with my left hand and pinched it. It DISMEMBERED IT!
stop being elitists, there's little difference and gloating about it being better in some way that lowly tileset users could never understand, is just stupid.
note how I said 'for us'.
I was a bronze colossus fighting a slade armored dwarf, he fucked up every part of my body before I threw him into the lava, then I got a swords one to fight and he sliced all my parts off, My last breath (well kind of) was taking the dwarf with me into the lava. Damn them dwarfs are tough.

It is encircled with rings of pedantry. It condescends with spikes of elitism. On top the pedestal is a sculpture of Cheesedelux and newbies. Cheesedulux looks down his nose at the newbies.
I've found the only problem I have with the ASCII is the trees.
red, yellow and white sand fucking rapes my eyes with ASCII
Anyone want to do a allnighter again tonight?
I'm not playing DF2010 until Toady fixes the farming bug.
you'd think he'd notice something like that.
I'm not playing DF2010 until Toady fixes the farming bug.
this, and im not playing till the military is sorted out and refuse will actually rot
