Hmm... 3 goblin ambush parties, my military consists of 10 barely trained dwarves with silk clothes and wooden wepaons. Well, time to load an old backed up save...
SAVESCuMER
Millitary is fucked up and hard for those just learning, hell it is hard for me and I am sort of a vet of DF. Sure the old millitary made it hard to select what kind of armor and shit, but this is just going too far, the old millitary screen was easy to mannage and hardly a issue.
I have no problem with the new system, just the dwarfs don't do what the fuck I tell them to do, and sit there gradually going insane, which really makes me rage.
I have a question. At the moment I am still not an expert at this game, and external irrigation is not an option while natural internal locations for farming are not present. I am interested in using the water source displayed in the image to irrigate the area outlined with the red square, while making the whole process controlled and safe, what would be the best way to preform this operation?
Is the source a river or a pond?
Is the source a river or a pond?
A static water source.
Destroy the rock thats holding the water back and you should be fine.
Levers and flood gates. Use a door to the room to prevent flooding of the rest of the fort. 1/7 water is all that is needed and you don't have to cover the whole thing. [editline]08:10AM[/editline]
Destroy the rock thats holding the water back and you should be fine.
Don't do this. It will flood again and again and if the source is large enough it will flood the fort.
Here is how it looks like one level up:
Don't do this. It will flood again and again and if the source is large enough it will flood the fort.
Huh he said it was static.
Huh he said it was static.
It is actually, but it might bring difficulties with no protection if it rains.
So, just out of curiousity - what's with all the OpenGL stuff around - will this game still work on a really bad laptop (1gb RAM, practically no processing power and low video memory) even with the recent update? I've heard rumors it's slow in the new version.
now my military keep switching from milkers and cheese makers back to military dorfs.. fuck off
It is actually, but it might bring difficulties with no protection if it rains.
When I'm done with the watering it I just wall it off.
Has anyone else noticed you can't break limbs in adventurer mode? You can lock it and get the action in the wrestling menu, but nothing happens when you press it.
So, I can't properly reclaim this fortress and kill the Forgotten Beasts that are just chilling out inside of it because as soon as I reclaim and I make all my dwarves military dwarves, they just fucking run inside the fortress instead of unpacking the wagon like I tell them to, and get themselves owned because they don't have the proper fucking weapons to kill this giant firebreathing tick. DERP [editline]02:55PM[/editline] And everytime I reclaim this fortress, it gets more and more laggy.. I'm actually playing at 9 FPS with my starting 7 dwarves. The fuck..
Added the military guide to the OP. Also, I now have three forgotten beasts in the caverns below my fort, a giant poisonous spider, a quadruped made of slate with noxious emissions, and a flying filth monster. The spider one has killed numerous olm men/women blowgunners and wrestler, and has yellow damage to most of its legs/abdomen + cephelothorax.
I have four dragons, Each are named and have killed 10-50 dwarves each
So you have one sheet of cloth it will be made of say 15,000 pieces called "fuel" and they use 10,000 "fuel with 5,000 left but you still have one sheet of cloth left? How does it show up if look at it using the k key?
Not sure if it's even possible to view the amounts left in the cloth/thread.
Military still seems a bit plagued by soldiers wanting to do things other than their commands. Picking up equipment every five seconds seems to be a problem for me, and i've even see my militia commander go on break during an ambush.
is the "pickup equipment" thing a bug every now and then you'll get dwarves running over a pig tail sock or something trying to pick it up over and over again once they have a real order or they need to drink they'll do something else but it's still pretty annoying also aside from what canesfan just said, what's wrong with the military? once I had an arsenal dwarf, the new system is a lot more flexible and allows a lot more variation between weapons and shit shit and I rarely ever get sparring accidents now, that's pretty nice although I am going to miss the 65 champion wrestler military, oh well
And i've still yet to see my guys train. I have a squad of seven all with equipment designated (most of them even have all their equipment on them already) and the orders for every month on the alert I have set are the same- train, with a minimum of two dwarves. I have two dwarves standing in the barracks with the "Waiting for Combat Training" tag. No idea what they're waiting on. My militia commander is...lo and behold, picking up equipment.
I'm going to make an arena to train my military dwarves. The training regiment is way too slow. I have 8 or 9 vultures in cages, I'm probably going to make a closed room for them, so they don't fly away. Once I capture some goblins, or something like that, I'll be able to have true gladiator battles. I need to figure out how to give them weapons as well. I have several 'skilled' users, and one expert fighter.

I've noticed the majority of discussions on this thread are how the bugs are more annoying then funny.
I've noticed the majority of discussions on this thread are how the bugs are more annoying then funny.
hey does anyone remember the 3D verison's first release that was some buggy unoptimized shit too, while I am having fun with this, I would really wait a bit for some bug fixes does putting a bunch of wood from underground (tower caps, fungiwood, all that shit) in a surface stockpile infront of the elves piss them off or do they only get angry at surface trees being cut
Aaand there goes my fort. Five goblins killed my entire (untrained hurp) military and went into my fortress before my traps were set.
if you can't figure that out by yourself you shouldn't try to play this.
So it costs how much?
So it costs how much?
It's free.
So it costs how much?
There's only room for ONE Taco around here, bub!
