My adventurer just took down a pack of 6 wolves completely unscathed. After failing to distract the wolves with a freshly mutilated deer carcass, the first one was immediately struck down by my two-handed sword. The second one lost a leg and fell to the ground. The third lost it's tail and got it's lung ripped out.
The forth and fifth were struck down in one hit each. Then I mutilated the other two. The last wolf tried to run but I threw one of his pack-brother's body/jelly at him, knocking him over. I then proceeded to disembowel him like his comrades.

If you spawn a lot of independent dogs/cats/whatever in the arena, it turns into a bloodbath.

Anyway, I started [I]another[/I] fortress, I already found hematite and gold and I remembered you can burn wood for charcoal so I shouldn't have a silk clothes army now...
Too much fun with the arena, I pitted an alligator against an infinite wave of wolves He took down roughly 43 wolves before succumbing to all of the bites and bleeding.
Oh, he died with a wolf's torn-off leg in his mouth. :v:

Bronze Colossus won. It [B]pushed[/B] them to death after they removed its arms and legs. It was like the black knight, but it could actually move and kill.
These things are fucking insane.
Why won't my farmers... farm!?! I irrigated a small portion (Not all) of the farm, and all my farmers are available, but they are not farming! Help! My fort is about to die! :ohdear:

It was funny because I made the lead goblets as a joke, then the traders came and I had like 20 gold goblets. Trading got easy

After 1 guy died from being [b]eaten alive[/b] by an alligator, my fortress of about 52 descended into chaos (Apparently whoever died was a friend to ALL) and they systematically killed one another, I'm reduced to about 9 dwarves now and they are still pissed off and not doing anything.
This has happened the past 4 fortresses I have had, excluding the one RIGHT before this one, which died from a goblin attack.

Fun with wrestling in Arena mode: be a giant, and wrestle whatever you want. Grab their head with your hand, and pinch their head. Do it about 3-4 more times and their head WILL EXPLODE.

Make sure you have enough buckets to supply them with water.
I'm just starting out in this game, and I'm having trouble farming because I can never find underground soil that I can try farming. And I guess outdoor farming is bad as every tutorial I've read said it's a bad idea to do until you get better.
Any suggestions on maybe other ways to get food or how to find places suitable for farming?

In current version, you need to irrigate the soil before you can farm it. Or, you can be more adventurous and make a farm in underground cave, which is dangerous because of monsters that are living inside it.
A note about hospitals: make sure you place some containers in there, otherwise the hospital will not use splints, thread, buckets or other VITAL items.

I meant because of bugs. I know how to play.
I think I've figured out why it happens, too. It seems like wounds will occasionally heal before a doctor can treat them, but sometimes (or always, not sure), the treatment will remain scheduled, and the doctor will continuously try to perform it. During this time, no one will feed or water the infirm.
is multi-core support even on toady's priority list cause it's lame that my fortress grinds to a halt when I hit 60 pop
