My book keeper is shit hot, almost got full precision on the records
[editline]10:25PM[/editline]
what a badass he just carried a barrel of wine to his office so he can hunker down and fill out some records while he gets pissed all night without having to leave his office aka fortress of awesome
Nice. With all those pathfinding fixes, looks like I can play the next version if he just fixes something about the unpredictability of training.
Toady fix'd some small bug
"- 0000070: [General] Negative distance for building materials (Toady One) - resolved."
Anyone encountered it before?
Yeah. I think it happened sometimes when the building material was on the map but wasn't accessible for whatever reason.
[editline]06:22PM[/editline]
At least, that's my guess.
A couple of new tiny bugfixes.

Somebody made a training dummy, the fixed code is Here which was used in the Genesis Mod, Original is Here which I guess is buggy.
I have a hamlet, but still no nobles. What is wrong with this game? The nobles screen has no nobles on it, not even a leader, and the "press n to add nobles" is blacked out. Does anyone else have this bug?
Edit: Checked the wiki and I'm not the only one. Apparently a new leader will eventually be elected. Someday...
Elves came today, they offered numerous things I desparately needed, specifically booze, wood, barrels, and something I always wanted: 2 breeding pairs of tamed Tigers.
Not one to give up the chance to have War Tigers, I clicked everything I wanted and offered it ecstatically, only to have the response that I was offering something created by a tree.
Enraged, I seized what I wanted, as well as all the cloth and fiber they had. In the end, I now have 1100 units of booze (at the rate my Dwarves consume booze, I'll bet it won't last until next year) enough fiber and cloth to last me until the end of time (I barely have to make anything, since I'm in a warm zone) and every animal I've ever wanted.
Obviously they were enraged, but I just laughed as my Dwarves took in our hard earned prizes.
This was just a long winded way to ask: Can I train Battle Tigers?

As I recall, you can only train dogs as war animals, but you can chain your tigers to your fort's entrance in the hopes that they'll attack goblins.
[editline]09:08PM[/editline]
Or cage them all by the entrance and release them when you're attacked.

What if I add the [TRAINABLE] tag to Tigers?

Never tried it. It's worth a shot.
I am playing the 40d until I really get into DF again.
So what type of bedroom desing you think is the best? I say living pods
Never tried it. It's worth a shot.
Holy shit It's already possible to train them into Battle Tigers, all I need is a Dungeon Master.
Also, apparently they are tough to take down even with steel bolts, they'll be worth their weight in gold as soldiers if I can get them breeding.

I use this kind:

I give generous 3x4 rooms with a table, chair, cabinet, and a bed, theres just too many resources for everyone to not get a good life.

Updates out incase nobody posted it by the way.
Oh God, they need Visual Fortress to come so much sooner, I am constructing a badass entrance for my Fortress.
Let's just say I was heavily inspired by that thing Sam and Frodo rested in in the beginning of Return of the King.

Just got war Tigers, badass.

Are they just tamed tigers or actually listed as war tigers? I can't find anything in the wiki about training anything other than dogs to fight.

I don't really care much about the 'efficiency' of bedrooms, I just go for stuff that looks good.
Which, fractal designs often do. Though I don't really have the patience to lay one out, they look incredible.
Example from the wiki:

# 04/12/2010: Here's the next one. I fixed some crashes and a pathing problem, and undead should be easier to kill in general. There's a forum thread here.
YES. No more unkillable zombies.
YES. No more unkillable zombies.
Eh? Zombies wouldn't die for you? I could kill zombies easily, it was the skeletons I would always have problems with.

Blammo.
Apparently you don't even need a Dungeon Master to train them, I hope they'll breed, they're amongst the more powerful of the War Creatures.

Well, this thing wouldn't die:

Both its arms got cut off, its left foot, every single part on it was red. But it wouldn't die and it killed a lot of things with its mouth. So unless Toady just made zombie giants invincible...
You have to cut off the head to kill a zombie.
My dwarves keep dropping their fucking weapons when I tell them to kill something, why!?

Military is bugged to hell and back.
Got a mountain that is mostly marble. I now cannot get the mental image of having a fancy marble fortress with fancy marble statures and fancy marble..... nigh everything out of my head.

I got roughly 6-7 entire layers of marble, I'm planning on making Minas Tirith with a Khazad Dum style entrance to the fortress, with only a 5 tile wide (to allow wagons) bridge.
Of course, since that would involve insane amounts of Marble, I'll make it have a marble exterior and the inside is composed of something more common.
But yeah, do marble, it's awesome.

Did you assign them weapons?
Do you have an arsenal dwarf?
I have assigned them weapons, and my fort only has 7 dwarves so I cant have an arsenal dwarf yet. I only got them to successfully attack something with a weapon, but only one time. No matter what I try doing they immediately drop whatever they're holding and try punching shit to death.

Rock bars?
He already has rock blocks, but rock bars? :raise:

You need an arsenal dwarf to assign dwarves equipment.
1. Do I have to download the new version to get the updates?
2. Can I keep my saved game somehow?
3. I have 45 people and am several years into the game and still have no nobles, what the fuck is happening?
4. Why me?
