Dude for bedrooms you can just make a dormitory now that everyone sleeps in.
1. Do I have to download the new version to get the updates?
2. Can I keep my saved game somehow?
3. I have 45 people and am several years into the game and still have no nobles, what the fuck is happening?
4. Why me?
1. Well ya how else is it gonna update?
2. I don't know, but probably so.
3. Watta ya mean you can't assign any nobles, or that the first ones died and the noble reassign never came back up?
4. It's everyone.

I never had any leaders or nobles to begin with, no one has died in my fortress so far. It's just that a leader/broker/bookkeeper was never assigned. I just hope I can fix it without having to undo all my hard work.

That puppy is just... swimming... not burning... :raise:
Temperature isn't turned off in the init either.

It must be a fire puppy, kill it with water before it burns down your fortress.

I've encountered that too.
You need an arsenal dwarf to assign dwarves equipment.
If you don't have one dwarves just go and collect their equipment from the stockpiles. I have never had an arsenal dwarf and still managed to assign dwarves equipment and have them train with it. It would make military completely worthless early on if you HAD to have one.

Rock bars?
He already has rock blocks, but rock bars? :raise:
I had this problem too, they need metal bars.
Reloaded the save and the puppy immediately melted in the magma. :v:
3x3 is my favorite.

Blammo.
Apparently you don't even need a Dungeon Master to train them, I hope they'll breed, they're amongst the more powerful of the War Creatures.
Stick them in a cage and wait for them to breed. Train any cubs you get out of it. :D
I don't think animals breed in cages. Make a 1x1 pit.
What do you do with refuse in this version? It doesn't rot...
Yes that is a bug that's going to be fixed. I have a massive refuse stock outside my fort. I suppose you could dump them in a 1x1 square as with rocks, or dump them into a chasm.

:raise: I'm not saying toady isn't doing great job but why doesn't he fix this instead of fixing some fucking fish' attack type?
Edit:
It wasn't fish, it was this
(*) fixed giant cave spider bite (was blunt)
Edited this post because there would be more than 2 people going after the carp.
:raise: I'm not saying toady isn't doing great job but why doesn't he fix this instead of fixing some fucking fish' attack type?
By "fucking fish' attack type" I presume you mean carp, which has plagued us DF players for many a year, thus it is more important than refuse.
Your really hostile, all your post's in this thread have been swearing at this and that and blaming over people because the game isn't working.
DF 0.31.03 OUT
I handled some more crashes and the main pathing issue. Undead aren't quite where they need to be yet (skeletons in particular still don't understand how the skull and spine should be holding them together), but they are more killable in this version. Since they don't make sense in the first place, there's a sort of hitpoint system for them now that'll get them dead eventually if you don't break them apart, though punching a skeleton to death takes a long time in this system and maces are still a bit underpowered. The undead HP will be revisited once the undead have more of a basis in the underlying reality. I'll get to maces etc. sooner.
Crash fixes
(*) fixed a zone deletion crash (only for zones with buildings in them)
(*) fixed crash in military screen upon switching to item assignment view when no squads were present
(*) fixed crash from copying a schedule cell with fewer orders to one with more
(*) fixed crash from changing alert view while scrolling through a schedule cells orders
Major bug fixes
(*) fixed pathing problem (root cause was map generation vs. liquids, would mess up ramps/channels and more)
(*) stopped missing undead/melted/etc. tissues holding parts from being severed
New stuff
(*) allowed undead in arena
(*) allowed undead to be killed by accumulated impacts for the time being while they don't make sense
(*) stopped people from trying to wrestle the undead at all
Minor changes
(*) messed with corpse piece colors a bit
(*) fixed "and" spacing in stripe/spot descriptions
(*) fixed nervous mannerism typo
(*) fixed some raw typos (see file_changes.txt)
I'll hold from playing until the military and healthcare are fixed aswell, though. Pathfinding down, two more to go.

No I don't mean the carp. There was some other attack he fixed in one of minor updates thus is much less important than refuse (maybe it wasn't fish but it was bite attack type).
About your "us DF players" well... what makes you think I'm not a DF player for a long time? Because I don't praise this bugged release? Also carps were fun but I don't miss them very much :v:
Don't get me wrong, I love new features. I'm just pissed off because trying to have fun with those new features is like playing with toys through shop-window.
PS. Your =/= you're
I had this problem too, they need metal bars.
Mine decided rock bars was a few barrels of booze...
He made a marble bucket.

oh, you mean that TINY inconvenience where carp attacks latch onto dwarves so they can continue mauling them with their ferocious carp teeth?

Read my last post, I wasn't talking about the carp... wait I'll check what that was.

There.

So Giant Cave Spiders will be even more deadly?
Also, I haven't found a single cave since I've started playing. I need to find an underground lake, since my murky pools haven't been full for a full year.

I think there is a cave on almost every location. Just dig deep... but you might not be happy about what you find :v:
Also I've just made 60 steel bars

Congratulations! Once you build all the armor and weapons you will ever need, remember to use the leftover steel for statues and other valuable furnitures.
After all, it's worth as much as Gold. Also, do you have a Steam account?

Don't forget schooling.
Don't forget schooling.
I'd say getting a military to wear their armor and weapons properly instead of dropping them all over the place and picking them up randomly and sometimes wearing multiples of the same items (three chain mails for example) is more important than the training aspect.
I just genned up a quick pocket world in 40d. I set it to run for ten thousand years (10000), made it so that it would continue genning even if all the megabeasts were dead and set the minimum number of volcanoes to the maximum (200). Two error boxes later, I forced it to stop rejecting the maps and go with what it had got.
The world went through "The Age of the Hydra" that lasted for all of 9 years before said Hydra was struck down by the dwarf Monom Channelfogs. Then it entered into "The Age of the Dwarf", which it has continued through ever since.
There are only three sites in the entire world, two of which are caves and the third is a dwarven mountain hall. There are only two civilizations: A dwarven civilization, and a dwarven group; the latter likely originating from the former. The dwarven civilization controls all the land in the eastern and central lands. To the north-east there is a large, calm ocean. To the south of their lands there are clumps of Good woodland, however bordering the south, south-east, south-west and far western borders of the world are Savage and Evil mountains, with a collection of mountains up in the north-west that are Evil, but Calm or else Benign.
I checked the Legends and found a hunter dwarf with 642 kills to his name. I found a few others with over 200 kills to their names as well.
There are loads of volcanoes, mostly in the Evil areas, but annoyingly there are also a lot of aquifers. Also, with no Elves or Goblins there's no chance of invasions, massively limiting potential Fun uses of all those volcanoes.
Hey Thorny, when some good Mayday-ish tileset comes out, can you add a download link to the OP?
