I'm curious how exactly progression is performed in the game. I've racked in a fair few skill points from various activities but it seems that deposits are the only way to advance throughout the game. $20/month seems like it'll be over a year before I can get even a simple vehicle.
20$ is more than enough for some vehicles.
Bought a sleipnir and 200 oil, now to buy armor

Fuck year, also bought mining equipment.
Nice armor.
I just sold 5k sweat for 13 PED!
I'm rich!..Well..not really..13,36 ped. :(
13 ped is pretty much for 5K
Well, yes and no.
Most people sell for 2,3 PED a K. So that'd be 11.5
I sold mine for 2,5 PED a K to this guy and that'd actually be 12,5 PED but he gave me another extra 0.5 PED.
It all depends on what people sell really but the median is 11,5 for 5K I'd imagine.

What armor is that? I really hope it isn't what I think it is.
[editline]12th August 2011[/editline]
Also you guys have to slow down with all this cool stuff you're buying. Yeah, its great that you bought a helicopter and a nice set of armor. But you're spending PED's on things that your character won't even use to 100% efficiency. If that armor is what I think it is, it's going to cost you a lot of PED just to wear it out hunting at your level. Spending lots of PED on great items doesn't mean you jumped ahead of everyone else. You are just slowing down your characters leveling progression. All those noobs you see running around naked killing things with their newbie handgun are going to level up faster and surpass you.

I went hunting a little bit today with that BLP handgun I bought and it was pretty damn good, much more eco than the opalo but I guess that's because it's a handgun and not a rifle. Didn't make much profit tho.
What should I do once I get around 10 PED.
[QUOTE=scratch (nl);31688165]What should I do once I get around 10 PED.[/QUOTE]
Get yourself either a C5 Blp rifle from the auction, or the Opallo Solomate from the trade terminal. Then get some ammo and go hunting, level up your character, and if you run out of ammo go sweat for a couple hours and use the PED you earn from that on ammo. Keep doing this until you deposit again (or simply save up) and then get yourself a full set of Pixie armor. Then move up to some higher level monsters and hope you start making profits on your loot.
It's good to hunt without armor for a while because everytime a monster hits and hurts you, you increase your dexterity, Evade, and bravery skills.
I wonder if anyone is actually listening to any advice they're given. I've been in the game a lot longer than most of you, and some of you already have helicopters. I'm not even considering getting one yet because it unbalances my income from hunting, and I'll need to deposit more. Some of you guys have choppers and you haven't even increased any of your skills past 100.

I will follow your advice, especially since I can't easely deposit and got to deal smart with what I got :v:
[editline]12th August 2011[/editline]
what levels would be good to hunt at first, and where?

Head west along the beach from Port Atlantis and train on 'Puny' monsters. You should be able to kill them in 2-3 shots with a Opallo. Don't expect huge profits at this point, just lots of skill increases. But that is what you want.
Also let the monsters hit you if your HP can take it. The skills you gain from taking hits are very important to level up in, and wearing no armor gives you bonus experience in those skills.
I didn't buy the chopper to overcompensate okay

I sweat, got an Opala and M2100 and I've hunted a bit. I ain't planning on buying anything else until my skills are high enough so I can feel safe.
[QUOTE=LeonS;31688021]Nice armor.

Nice work mate, that's enough to get started in some professions.
I guess the joy of getting a vehicle would be MUCH larger when done the long way. Is it smart to get an air vehicle right away or is a land vehicle also useful?
[QUOTE=gnisasas;31688297]I didn't buy the chopper to overcompensate okay[/QUOTE]
It was a pretty silly decision, considering Xavith likes to fly you wherever you need to go. I still think you should sell it, but that's up to you.

Land vehicles are great, but at your level you should be hunting Puny monsters, which are really close to Port Atlantis. Run along the beach west for about 2 minutes and you'll see plenty to kill.

I can't even buy one for a long time, so that's okay :downs:. Thanks for explaining us all so much.
[editline]12th August 2011[/editline]
I think I'll also go to 5K sweat and then do the same an LeonS. Maybe we could go hunting together if you want to LeonS. Still gotta sweat a while though, at 3.7K now.
Oh and I'd like to say that I got my Sollomate Opalo and M2100 for free.
[QUOTE=scratch (nl);31688377]I can't even buy one for a long time, so that's okay :downs:. Thanks for explaining us all so much.[/QUOTE]
Anytime. I'd hate to see you guys come back on here in a week saying that you are all out of money already and need to deposit again. If you are going to buy something, you should ask some people what they think first in case you're making the wrong choice.

Bonus
oh wow I hate you LeonS, I'd never get that lucky I guess :v:
[editline]12th August 2011[/editline]
[sp]Of course I don't REALLY hate you, just jealous [/sp]
[editline]12th August 2011[/editline]
God damn we need an FP/vikings private sweating location, all these horrible AFK'ers annoy me.
Omak in Vikings gives them away for free, he did for me atleast.
(Don't tell him I sent you!)
I got too excited with the chopper yeah, I'll consider reselling it, but it doesn't hurt having it as long as I'm not broke, I bought 1500 oil for it so it should last a really long time lol.

The Opallo is pretty cheap anyways. And it will last you a long time as well. I used the Opallo, and I've also lended it to 2 other people in the past and it's still going strong
I guess you could keep the oil and just sell the chopper, the oil will always be useful.

Not when you don't deposit
[editline]12th August 2011[/editline]
wait how long does such thing last :v:, can you repair it ?
[editline]12th August 2011[/editline]
do they go as fast as the 2 guns you got on the tut island (which I both still have, should I use those up first??)
[editline]12th August 2011[/editline]
how much ammo should I buy too?
[QUOTE=scratch (nl);31688473]I guess you could keep the oil and just sell the chopper, the oil will always be useful.[/QUOTE]
I think he is going to deposit pretty often anyway, so I guess having the chopper is more of a fun thing to do and he's not really thinking economical, which is fine. But if he doesn't want to deposit every week or so he'll need to manage his PED's differently. Me personally, I deposit, so I spend my money on stupid things sometimes (nothing as crazy as a helicopter though)
Even though I waste some PED's on recreational things, I still try to pass the right advice on to new players.
I'll give y'all my plans for Entropia so far and see whatcha think.
Now: I'm sweating my ass off, it's not too bad as I've previously said. I've got an M2100 and Opalo, both out of ammo as I went hunting a bit yesterday. I've leveled the Opalo mostly as I focus on it.
I'm planning on getting a Hovercraft and filling it up with oil once I've got a full pixie armor and proper money-making skills. I want to be 100% sure that getting that vehicle will improve my economy and not slow it down, and some will say that a flying vehicle would be better and I'll agree but they don't look as cool as the Hovercraft.
plus I got it for real cheap, so I might even make profit, the chopper that is
why did you get 2 guns? are they both rifles?
[editline]12th August 2011[/editline]
damn you're really inspired with that hovercraft I see. I got that with the Sleipnir.
Shit yeah I want a hovercraft.
Oh and Sollomate Opalo is a rifle, M2100 is a pistol. I got them for free as said because I asked. :v:
