Everything but the class changes makes sense. Also, why give players more incentive to play Blood Elves? Fucking hate the things. If Blood Elves could play every class then they'd take up about 95% of the Horde population.

I don't see why people think Blizzard can't change the war. WoW is set post-Warcraft (I, II, III). They don't have to stick to previous lore. Believe it or not, they can make something new happen!
They can but within certain rules generally set beforehand by the general 'direction' that race was going in.
So far they've done that with blood elfs becoming paladins, and every race becoming death knights and so on.
But stuff like night elf mages and tauran paladins and priest just go against everything thats been established about their races.
I think when your world explodes you'd become a little flexible.

Tauren paladins might actually make a tiny bit of sense based on that conversation those two Tauren druids [I don't know names, not like it really matters] were having discussing the place of the sun in their form of druidism... or not.
