Okay I watched the video and I guess I missed it, but where is the part where this is anything other than a battlefield clone? Now if cops actually were using police equipment and rules of engagement, or any semblance of realism at all really, this could be really interesting. Buuuuut all I see is a bunch of shooting and police vehicles that have weapons mounted on them in fashions that would simply never occur. It looks exactly like a battlefield game. I can't, for the life of me, see the appeal. Everything that is interesting about the cops and robbers dynamic has been stripped out in favor of making another simple shooter. At its most basic form it should always be that Police have overwhelming power, but serious restrictions on its use, while robbers have no restrictions, but limited capabilities. I mean unless you consider the desire to simply have another BF game, in which case great, but I don't think it needs a kickstarter as the concept is already pretty mainstream.
I'd wait for actual gameplay before you make up your mind.
So what if it takes influence from Battlefield. [editline]16th April 2012[/editline] Yeah, that estimated minute of concept gameplay PROVES this is a carbon copy of Battlefield.
It's pretty damn obvious that a reskinned modern military shooter is what they're going for at the moment. They basically say it themselves. That's not to say it couldn't take a different direction though.
Fuck it. What we need is for SWAT 5 to come out.
Honestly it looks just like Battlefield 3 with new maps, models and vehicles.
Yeah, that estimated minute of concept gameplay PROVES this is a carbon copy of Battlefield.
OK, so it's early to pass judgement... but fucking hell, the tagline is "This isn't just a bank heist... this is war." I mean, come on.
I am getting real sick and tired of everyone and their grandmother doing a kickstarter.
"I'm getting sick and tired of people making money from making games" is pretty much like "I'm getting sick and tired of big developers making money from games they make".
I'm willing to put 15$ into this. I hope these guys go somewhere, looks interesting.
Looks interesting. I don't get the criticisms against it being a CoD and Battlefield clone. Without even seeing real gameplay. If they are taking concepts from two really good FPS franchises then I don't see how that's bad. [editline]16th April 2012[/editline] I guess if you wanted a SWAT 5 or a more realistic police video game that's okay but I don't really see why you would lament about it in this thread?
Is this going to be a full priced game or what??
So if it's warfare why are the police still involved
Because you can have two gangs fighting and call it gang warfare.
In both Heist and Warzone mode players will spawn as one of three player classes: Assault, Sniper or Support (except for $100 backers who will also get to spawn as the secret class and use the secret weapon kit!).
/hype gone.
/hype gone.
The civilian class I'd laugh.
So if it's warfare why are the police still involved
Police State?
Police State?
...which still begs the question
The civilian class I'd laugh.
It is LA. Any reasonable person would be as heavily armored as the police.
Because you can have two gangs fighting and call it gang warfare.
So by the title of this game we have two police forces battling it out?
So by the title of this game we have two police forces battling it out?
Well no but I was using gang warfare as an example but Police Warefare to me still sounds right
So what? "This is war" isn't secret code for "this is a carbon copy of BF3"
The devs are clearly taking a lot of inspiration from the BF series though. Personally I don't mind, but that may be a problem for many others. Hopefully they'll elaborate on that in an update soon.
The civilian class I'd laugh.
I know some people who'd legitimately pay $100 to have that in TF2.
First update's out: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/policewarfare/police-warfare/posts/209951 Steam release, also available for download from website DRM-free, secret class is only visually unique.
Wow, someone actually donated $2500 and three people $500. Wish I had that capital...

Props man.
we have a winner
Why so secretive about the engine? From the looks of the animations and models, my guess is CryEngine3.
These kickstarter threads have been getting a little annoying, but I like that people are supporting these guys making games with original content.
Why is everyone complaining it looks like battlefield. the battlefield games are great
It is LA. Any reasonable person would be as heavily armored as the police.
In California, one of the most strict states a far as gun laws go in the entire country? Totally.
Welp they shut down the kickstarter not too long ago, I wonder why?
