I loved this game so much that it made me biterly disapointed in RO2
I wish it was populated like it used too, would be nice to play it again for Nostalgics sake.

That's the best part!!!
It's still populated, it fills up to 70 players on a daily basis, and with news of Festung Europa release Darkest Hour is seeing a spike in players.

The only thing that pisses me off in this game is the hipshooters. Oh man, some of those fucking assholes have it down to an art.

As I have to repeat over and over, firing at a target range is not the same as firing at moving targets in an intensive combat scenario.
Hipfire may even be preferable in a combat scenario since you can get your gun into a ready position faster, but it's still not going to be very accurate. There''s some people who can hip-shoot you from like 100 meters away in DH.
I'm one of those goddamn hip-shooter master-race people
I cleared a house full of thompsons and garands with a K98 and 3 well-placed hip-shots... from the other side of the road. Seriously though, one trick that's always useful is that sprinting will ALWAYS reset your point of aim dead center. When you come out of a sprint, your gun will be at the center of your screen. Adjust as necessary, and boom, you hit. Call it abuse, but that's the most important trick in the book. Ironsighting also does that.

A quick melee attack does the same, by the way.
Are there any servers for this in Europe?

Yes, the 29th has a Euro server that is a 50 slot. It is not as popular as their Batallion server, but it still fills up for a couple hours everyday.

Wrong. What is actually happening is weapons in DH are programmed so that there is very little weapon sway for the first few seconds when you iron-sight. As time progresses your weapon will begin to sway more and more to simulate the soldier becoming tired from holding the weapon. The amount of sway is dependent on factors such as if your weapon has a bayonet attached, if you are low on stamina, if you are suppressed etc. If I'm not mistaken, I thought every FPS game centers your weapon when you iron-sight. If you rest your weapon on a surface then you will have no sway at all, one of my favorite things about DH.
It is far better to hip-fire if you are moving, the amount of delay it takes to iron-sight your weapon puts you at a serious disadvantage. In close combat situations this is crucial.

I know there's weapon sway, I'm talking about ways of resetting your point of aim dead center for more accurate hipshots.
Also, I'm playing now, anyone want to join?

Ok, that I did not know. Here is a good tip I learned. Bind drop weapon to a mouse key, because just like in real life, it's faster to throw your weapon on the ground and unholster a sidearm. Great for when you are running around with a Panzerschrek or machinegun or if you get caught reloading a primary weapon. With practice you will catch so many players by surprise.

Also worth checking out: Darkest Orchestra

- Russian Weapons Using DH Parent Classes
- Mantling Anims from Darkest Hour
- Ragdolls for Russians
- Tank Code from Darkest Hour
Axis Army for Darkest Hour
- New German Roles for Heer and WaffenSS including Greatcoats and Panzergrenadiers.
- New Halftrack variants for Panzergrenadiers
- Stug variant for Panzergrenadiers
- Opel Blitz variant for Panzergrenadiers
- PanzerII with textured variants (urban, camo, and whitewash)
Red Orchestra Maps for Darkest Hour
- Levels will be edited from Red Orchestra (Those that seem fit for Darkest Hour)
- Gameplay will be adjusted to fit the Darkest Hour community
Notes:
Some might ask why I'm doing this. My answer is why not. File size will be very small except for the levels, so it can't do any harm. Most RO levels are less than 40MB which is low for DH levels. It'll bring something fresh to those who play Darkest Hour, but never Red Orchestra. Also those that are big into tanking will have a chance to use Russian tanks with DH armor code. Why not just play RO? Well this uses Darkest Hour parent classes, so you'll have the Darkest Hour features such as mantling, fire suppression, stamina system, wounding system, tank damage code, weapon systems, etc. Also you won't need to exit DH and start RO.
pop pop pop watchin' shermans drop
I love the LMGs, able to fire from the hip, able to ironsight from the hip (you can use it like a semi-auto rifle), able to spray from the hip (like an SMG), able to deploy and fire accurately at long range (like an MG)
so versatile, <3.
Bren > FG42 > BAR
With the bren you have the same clip size as SMGs for those CQC battles, a controllable RoF, and superb long range accuracy.
if they add the DP28 like that in Darkest Orchestra, that will be sexy.

Been so long since I played this, i think i quit playing because i was banned from the 29th server for having a potty mouth. That was the only well populated server.

there's another populated server, Jolly Rodgers
they're a bit more laid back though.
though I tend to be a bit of a potty mouth in vehicle chat.
"SHOOT THAT FUCKING TIGER ALREADY"
jolly rogers is tanks only though, which is annoying when i want to play inf

I'm sure that if you attempt to appeal your ban and are apologetic and not sarcastic you will be unbanned. Almost all of the ban appeals are accepted.

whoops I meant to quote daddy
When I saw the title I thought of "Darkest hour: A hearts of iron game"
I would love to see a new version of this game built from scratch, with new engine etc
I got some good screenshots of playing on a tank server today. I was on the Soviets (this server had USSR instead of USA), and used the ISU-152 and SU-76 exclusively. Good fun.

Crap he moved, gotta chase him down.

There he is! Ready for fire command!

FIRE! Direct hit! Tank neutralized!

I spotted this Tiger but decided he was too far away, and an IS2 sitting next to me took him out.

Got right up behind him and fired a shot straight into his ass, making his tank smoke. Let's fire once more!

Here I had to hide from a Panther in a wooded ditch below the road. Was kinda intense. I decided to avoid him, probably for the better.
I love the Su-76
Another little story of when I was playing today:
So I'm minding my business, trying to stealthily cross the map in an SU-76, when I happened upon a Tiger. I thought I'd take it out, and to make sure I penned it, I came up behind it and rammed it straight in the ass. I jumped into the gunner seat, and fired. The shell bounced off the back of the fucking Tiger straight into the front of my tank and blew it up. Fucking shell physics, why you so good?

I love ramming superior tanks in my T/34-85
shit's fast, and if you explode to close to them, they explode too!
works in halftrack v. halftrack battles too
I'm chillin in my SdKfz 251, some bitch in a M3 starts bouncing .50 off my armor
I just go full throttle at him, he's pinging away at my vision slit
then he chickens out and bails out of the M3
I run him over :v:

I have over 1000 hours played, that is such a rare thing to have happen I've yet to see it before.
However, I don't think a ricochet tank shell would be able to destroy a tank in real life.
-Also, what server where you playing on that has Russian tanks on lutremange?
The "XO Real Panzer Server" server.
