This idea sounds too similar to Vault 34. (The radiation part, I mean)
That was more a consequence of the Vault's intended purpose though; to have an armoury stuffed with guns and ammo, along with no lock. Interesting that 34 seems to have been stable until shortly before the Courier's arrival.
Is there any way to cheat on Fallout 1 ?

Google FALCHE.
What the hell are kudos?
seriously why are you a hipster for f1/2
"oh well it's like way better because it's like old and top-down and shit and I just hate people that have played 3 but not 1 or 2 because it's like not nearly as good because it's 3d and shit"
I played 1 2 and tactics when they came out and I think f3 is better, better gameplay, more interesting story (I do miss moral ambiguity like you said though), and hundreds of hours of freeroam, while I finished 1/2/tactics in about three days each
get over it

I think the whole realtime first person thing works a lot better for a game of fallout's style, you get more control over how things play out. Shooting somebody in the face in turn-based combat just doesn't have the same relevance as it does in first person realtime. Still, I wish there were more roleplaying elements. New vegas was a step in the right direction, but I just like the scale of the old ones. fallout 1 seems to take place is a large chunk of southern california, whereas the Mojave in new vegas in only like a few square kilometers.
As far as comparing the old and new fallout games, I'd say
Fallout 3/New Vegas = Better perspective, better combat, more in-depth story. New Vegas added the crafting system which is really cool. Human interactions are better (despite the wooden facial animations)
Old Fallouts = Better everything else. The general atmosphere feels a bit more bleak, rather than merely playing through a quest, it feels like you're playing through a post-apocalyptic existence, being that it takes place in a much larger span of area, and over a much bigger timespan. If the good aspects of both were combined it'd make an incredible game. The game also feels less centered around you, and you feel like you are existing in an interesting world, rather than an interesting world revolving around you. Fallout 3 was a bit oblivion-esqu in that manner. feels like a short adventure, rather than a 2-3 year span of events like in the old fallout games.
Just finished downloading the Van Buren design documents. Anyone want them?
My computer can't play Fallout 1 and 2. The graphics are all screwed up. :(

Get the Hires patch, there's a tweak in an ini it adds to make the game run in direct3d mode rather than the directdraw mode that was broken in recent windows versions causing the 'rainbow glitch'.
Come to think of it, new vegas's story would have been way better if it didn't revolve around you. The story should progress without you. If you chose to not play the quests, the battle for the damn should still happen, house, ncr, and legion would all duke it out by themselves. BUT if you want to, you can butt into the story at any time, and influence events (to your preference) that would otherwise happen by themselves.
Though, due to the smaller size of the Mojave wasteland, you'd probably get bored of things since it feels like you're right next door to the battle.

I sat for a minute and thought about this, and realized it would be amazing if executed correctly.
Anyone besides me have this issue with the geck, It started fine an hour ago and now it wont get past loading data at 4%"just the normal fallout.esm".. its happend before and the only way I could fix it was reinstalling the game.
Arcade's quest is not starting. I'm sure that I've gained his trust. Anything I am doing wrong?
Arcade's quest is not starting. I'm sure that I've gained his trust. Anything I am doing wrong?
you need to progress significantly far into the Main Quest. As in, once you join a faction and the other factions begin to warn you that if you keep it up they'll hate you, then you can get his quest.

Sounds too optimistic for a modern-day game.
I stopped playing Fallout after my character was beaten to death by a bunch of raiders just for showing up at their office.

I died in the fucking caves of Fallout. After that I realized this death system was not for me. Oh well.

Not really. They could simply have other people that come along and do the quests you dont do. At that point its just all about timing. From a tech standpoint, caravans navigate around without you having to be around them, I dont see why they couldn't do the same for other people who do your quests.

Same thing happened to me. I spent a few hours doing small quests, and taking on small enemies. If things were too much for me I just ran away. Once I got to about level 5, and had a few companions, then things start to even out. Only thing I can really complain about is the turn-based combat which can be painfully boring.
5 levels later, I came back with my high tech small arms and superior armor, and obliterated the raider camp :v:

Does anyone here remember the diaries people were making back in the fallout sub forum? I'm thinking of starting one again but would anyone here read it?
Ugh click the link shown in the Media tab cause Imageshacks a pos
Rate Zing if you would read a Diary about a poor lost soul trying to stay alive in the wasteland.
Great, now ED-E's disappeared. Tried warping to him, and it sends me to a four-walled room without an exit. Any hints without killing ED-E My Love?
The first time I played Fallout, I ran into Arthur's Knights and accidentally got into a fight with them. They turned me into Swiss Cheese with their Gatling Lasers.

There would have to be a LOT of content to make up for what players will inevitably miss the first time. Seems too rough and optimistic. Be nice though.
I think adding a quest marker to your HUD, which points you everywhere is stupid. Without it, you would waste a month to finish the game.

I think it would be interesting if you had to find where you had to go listening to peoples directions and using maps if the game were fine tuned to accommodate that, but it wouldn't fit in fallout IMO.
Ugh, what the hell is the point of the de-endorse feature on the nexus. Some guy downloads my human normal maps, and de-endorses without giving a reason, against no endorsements it just makes it look bad. Seems odd since I posted numerous pictures, its not like theres any suprises waiting when he installs the damn thing. Stupid fuck. Out of all the people that put in the effort to come back three hours later after downloading to make endorsment comments, it has to be the mo-ron who doesnt like it depsite the fact that he already knew what it looked like.
