See, that's where I gotta disagree. I find it's more fun to shoot absurd mutated creatures with slightly realistic weaponry.
besides, the game would have been more fun if there wasn't this horrid division between mythical uber weapons (that only appear when you hit level 17..) and all the other shit in the game. At level 2 you should be able to run into level 10+ vipers carrying 12.7mm pistols and Hunting Shotguns, Vipers who will fuck your shit up if you charge in like an asshat. Seriously, the whole "you've killed 259 people" thing is starting to get old, you strutt the wastes like a demi-god. In fallout, other people can actually KILL you, amazing! It's the one big thing I like about that game.

Long term, maybe - but in terms of the perfect ending for the game, not really.
The Mr. House ending involves:

Eradication of the Kings, due to House's power-trip.
Powder Gangers continue to raid caravans for years.
Followers of the Apocalypse struggle to cope with the influx of refugees.
Goodsprings is overseen by a Securitron.[/sp]
Whereas the NCR ending allows for perfect endings to every faction, even the Great Khans.

I just remembered why I stayed the fuck away from the last game, all of my 5 saves are glitched so I can't fast-travel or it crashes. So I either have to start anew, leaving my 3 fully outfitted companions, a huge freaking stash, and a half completed story (all of which I would have to do again), or not fast travel [i]ever[/i].

Try using the MasterUpdate feature of FNVEdit.

Which I would find where exactly? The only three buttons of FNVEdit are View, Messages, and Information, and right clicking does give some options, but I can't find 'MasterUpdate'. Would it happen to be 'Sort Masters'?

That's weird.
[sp]If you ally the Kings with the NCR, House destroys them for being traitors.
If you incite a war between the two, House spares them.
If you don't do the quest at all, House invades Freeside and massacres the Kings.[/sp]
Endings might be bugged then.
Make a copy of FNVEdit.exe and rename it to FNVMasterUpdate.exe
