Does the narrator actually say anything?
No, it goes close to his face like he's about to say something, then pans back.

Last night I played the Firefly ranch mod quest. It was creepy as hell when I got into the facility. Good writing on the computers and notes, that was very well done. But the game crashed, and when I reloaded suddenly like 15 fucking dogs were running at me. The game does that occasionally, it will load something it should have before, but only does it right when I reload a save near the point. Anyways, pictures. Looks like most of them are just of the text, oh well. It's a good mod, and the house is really neat too. http://www.dropbox.com/gallery/13641475/1/FO3%20Firefly?h=149cd6
The time that it takes the GECK. to generate LOD meshes is directly related to the number of "chunks" that it has to generate, which depends on the number of cells in your world space. For a small world (up to about 20 chunks) it may only take a few minutes; for a larger world space (20-50 chunks), the time increases to around 30-60 min; a world space with more than 50 chunks generally takes several hours. To generate an entire heightmap created in the heightmap editor (circa 1360 chunks) it will take around 2-3 weeks of non-stop generation.

WastelandNV - 1360 cells
:Dawkins102: I- I am speechless. I cannot possibly fathom what the hell the executable could possibly be processing in three weeks time.
Yes, but he eventually gets killed. And no, you can't see him doing his plan or something. He ALWAYS dies, there is no way of saving him.
Once again, if you save him somehow, he'll just run around the Legion camp looking for someone to kill him.
:Dawkins102: I- I am speechless. I cannot possibly fathom what the hell the executable could possibly be processing in three weeks time.
Could you explain what the 'LOD' is, and why you have to generate it? I find the fact it takes 2-3 weeks to generate interesting, but I'm unsure as to what it is.
You know how everything looks chunky and muddy if its way in the distance? (use a scope to look at something really far away) Everything in the distance is the LOD. It means Level of Detail. Rather than displaying everything onscreen at once, which would basically be impossible, the game instead displays a fake, low-detail 3d backdrop in the distance to save of system resources. In the geck, if you make changes to the terrain and add new objects, you will need to regerate the LOD, so you can see the stuff you have added in the distance. Ive made big changes to terrain, and added large objects. The objects part I can handle, generating lod objects is a very fast process, but the regenerate the new vegas terrain LOD can, and will take three weeks. it amazes me, because all it has to do is convert the terrain mesh into a large, low detail static prop.. so the fact that it takes three weeks to do that is absurd, there is no reason it should be doing that. Clearly the people who designed the process to generate the LOD have fucked up really badly. Wee`re talking about a process that should only take 10 minutes at maximum. generating LOD meshes should only take 5 minutes, but instead it takes three weeks.
Gamebryo :argh:
Gamebryo :argh:
I dont think its gamebyro, I was under the impression that Bethesda designed the GECK, probably means they designed the LOD generating executable as well. I think somebody made a program for Oblivion that generates the lod, and it only takes like 10-20 minutes to do it. Unfortunately I cant figure out how to use it for New Vegas.

That's just absurd.

Is there like, a line of code somewhere that I can change to reset my thirst rising levels to normal?
I seem to be pretty lucky on avoiding bugs, but crashes are still common for me. Also, all glory to the hypno-toad for helping me with Vault 34 (still had to redo part of it as I died of radiation for the first time). Me, ED-E and Veronica have been treking across the Mojave, but I'm still waist deep in quests. Thinking about my next playthough. May make it a "detective" playthough (as I love detectives) but I'm not sure what that would entail.
If you go into vault 34, wear an advanced radiation suit, and constantly take rad-x. Bring lots of rad-away.. but you can find sufficient rad-away in the vault itself. That is one of those pack-heavy sort of dungeons, you want to come with everything you'll need. [editline]29th November 2010[/editline] Even the object LOD generating is a joke. You have to manually extract and convert over 300 files from the texture archives. Why cant the geck just use the files IN the archive? Bounty, have you been generating object lods for your stuff, or are you just going without?

Nah, dont even bother with it at all. I'm sure that theres an exterior compiler for the terrain LODs, one that isn't so awful. In a moment, I should have all the files extracted for the Object LODs, I could send them to you if you haven't done it already.

Fuck. The RAM in my desktop just failed, so no New Vegas for me until the new sticks arrive. :saddowns:

Use only pistols, take the lady killer perk, and find and wear an overcoat all the time. Use console commands if you must.
I'm considering of getting New Vegas. December is closing so it's time to buy a new game.
yeah that would be useful but I dout I'll need them soon. You know when you play as a female, and you speak to the slave doctor in The Fort, she says that some Legionnaires were looking to "try you out"? Why doesn't that actually ever happen? I was looking forward to utilizing my Black Widow perk to its logical conclusion at long last (since I got Swank to betray Benny, thus closing up any Doom Nookie capability with old Benny)!
I was Bored so I decided to show every one how big the map really is, Seeing how not every one can see it in the geck, and even then you can't see all of the cells. First Stop right by the Legion Camp, over looking the lake.
