To be fair the DLC will probably be a linear, 1-2 hour quest that has no effect on the rest of the game.

Well, they can boosts the sales for New Vegas with the new DLC, console players are more likely to buy the DLC than pirating it. On PC of course a large amount of people pirate it instead of buying it. Still it's dumb.

That, combined with their capacity to promise studios a ton of money if they make their games xbox exclusive, means big bucks. Whereas with steam precisely no money from the sale goes to microsoft, and that just won't do. Keep in mind that the only way to get the DLC for Fallout 3 was through their terrible GFWL shite.
