Beginning endgame with a GAW score of 3750 will get you the Master and Commander achievement, but it's not quite enough to get the 'best'* ending. To get the best ending, you need a GAW score of 4000 AND you need to accomplish certain criteria throughout the game. If you don't meet this criteria, you can still get the best ending by having a score of 5000 or more.

It's probably a pyrrhic victory whereby the majority of the Reapers are wiped out, but the galactic community is isolated and shattered because of every mass relay going kaboom and destroying many worlds. Having a light ending where everything isn't all that bad would be kinda lame; but a dark ending in the vein of a pyrrhic victory would be so good.
