Wait so is Battlefield 3 free for those who bought the Collector edition or something?
There was one day bonus that if you preordered ME3 from Origin you got free BF3.
Wait so is Battlefield 3 free for those who bought the Collector edition or something?
Anyone who preorders on Origin [editline]22nd February 2012[/editline]
There was one day bonus that if you preordered ME3 from Origin you got free BF3.
oh so it's over? I had BF3 anyways :v:
Oh no, guys, DLC I won't buy! It's the end of the earth! The game is ruined!
Hasn't the past several pages just been sad?
That isn't the point I was making at all. For all you know the dude could be in the game and have an important role but you can't recruit him until you buy the dlc.
Judging by the probability of finding a living prothean, this DLC is probably NOT going to be major plot-changing at all - ingame, I mean. "Oh hey, it's living prothean! Tell us your story!", and after a mission(s) involving him he'll just be like Zaeed. Click - 'Shepard, I remember how once I was frozen in the chamber', click - 'wasn't pretty', click - 'Shepard, I remember how once I was frozen in the chamber'. So this stuff will most likely fucking rape the plot, then eat it, then shit it out and rape again. So much for prothean. So much for EA trying to suck as much your money out as they can.
I don't know why, but i seem to be prone on buying things on Console, only later to find out it was a waste and instead prefer it a lot more on PC. (Command and Conquer, Mass Effect, Battlefield) Now that i think of it i'm not sure if I should just buy ME3 on PC and convert my ME2 saves to PC
Fuck ton of spoilers to the ME lore that many of us did not want to know about.
Thanks for using spoiler tags, you know, some of us did not look into this for the specific reason that we don't want to know.
spoilers i guess heres a censorship edit
God I hate EA and the bullshit they pull off.
hey guys I heard there was some day one DLC so I decided that I was still looking forward to the game enough to actually buy it and not give a shit about any side content.
Thanks for using spoiler tags, you know, some of us did not look into this for the specific reason that we don't want to know.
It's going to be announced, I saw no reason for spoiler tagging it.
Yeah, people don't just blindly follow Valve with steam. In fact, Half-life 2 suffered in review scores for "forcing" users to install this intrusive spyware-like useless game launcher called "Steam.", But valve have done nothing but impress with it.
Yeah. Pft. Steam. What is that, spyware? What a useless program. I just want to play HL2.
The side content is the most significant event to happen in the entire galaxy's history besides the reaper invasion.*
*or so is speculated at this time until further info is uncovered
The fact that the game has so much freaking day 1 DLC is just mind-boggling and calls for a boycott all on it's own. Now that I've just heard about this Prothean bullshit I'm definitely not buying the game (I was going for the N7 edition). I'm here to ask you guys what do you make of this whole mess and if I'm mistaking something? Please don't try to tell me Day 1 DLC is justifiable in any way shape or form, ESPECIALLY if it contains a very important story piece.
Prothean comes with the collector's edition. In my opinion DLC or not it's retarded to boycott Mass Effect 3. It's going to be amazing. With or without the DLC. And honestly I don't know what the fuss is about. I personally don't give a shit. If you don't like the DLC don't buy it. Yeah they're doing questionable and ethically wrong things but oh fucking well that's life they want to make more money.
I just read about the day 1 Collector's Edition DLC. I'm quite angry.

All the other shit like the art book and the figurines only get you free multiplayer packs.
I would not be surprised if you can buy new multiplayer unlocks in the store with bioware points. I would also remind people that Zaeed Massani, also a DLC character, had one of the coolest missions. Short but awesome.
Xenophobe =/= Chaotic Stupid, my "official" playthrough is racist xenophobic Space Marine and I'm getting along swimmingly with Garrus and Wrex. Look at it this way; use the aliens for what their worth, and when the opportunity arises, kill them. Just because you hate aliens doesn't mean you don't recognize their usefulness as tools to better aid Humanity. Hell, you could even use that logic to see saving the Destiny Ascension as a good thing, earning the trust of the xeno until the Cycle arrives, when they'll be weakened enough to deal a killing blow. So far I've killed the Rachni Queen, saved Shiala, supported Terra Firma and kept Wrex alive. I'm definitely planning on siding with the Geth and Salarians in ME3 though, the Geth just want to be left alone (and thus aren't a threat) while the Salarians are the weakest of the original Council Species whilst closest to Humanity in behavior.
When I did a xenophobe ME1 walkthrough I don't think I even recruited Garrus or Wrex.
For fucks sake the accent is South African. NOT Jamaican.
Bioware said the voice actor is Kenyan.
It's not stupid to boycott something like this, if people just accept this and let it pass over their heads EA will know that people are okay with it and eventually take away more and more content into day 1 DLC format, it's unacceptable. Anything that is made before the game is release should be in the game on release. Fine if they make it afterwards but taking up production time to split the game...no.
Well, just heard about the DLC [sp]living prothean[/sp] bullshit. Cancelled Collector's Edition pre order and I'll just wait 'til it's $20 or something. wow what a shit page prince
M-55 Argus Assault Rifle pointless extra N7 Assault Rifle pointless extra N7 Armor pointless extra N7 Arsenal SMG pointless extra N7 Arsenal Shotgun pointless extra N7 Arsenal Sniper Rifle pointless extra N7 Arsenal Pistol pointless extra AT12 Raider shotgun pointless extra N7 hoodie for shepard pointless extra Robot dog pointless extra [sp]Prothean squadmate[/sp] "from ashes" mission - more info required Reckoner Knight set pointless extra Squad Appearance pack pointless extra Collector assault rifle (multiplayer only) pointless extra Mass Effect: Infiltrator "exclusive weapons" (not stated what) pointless extra Chakram launcher pointless extra
here's an idea why don't we, like, not buy any extra weapons or pretty customisation options that don't make a difference and that we don't really give a shit about?
Well, just heard about the DLC [sp]living prothean[/sp] bullshit. Cancelled Collector's Edition pre order and I'll just wait 'til it's $20 or something. wow what a shit page prince
Wait... You pre-ordered the collector's edition before, but now you are not getting it because apparently you will also get a DLC character? What was the reason for ordering the CE in the first place? I didn't get the CE on principle in the first place.
Well, just heard about the DLC [sp]living prothean[/sp] bullshit. Cancelled Collector's Edition pre order and I'll just wait 'til it's $20 or something. wow what a shit page prince
Look, whether content's been left out or not isn't the point. You need to forget about what hasn't been put in and remember what has. So what if stuff's been removed? Pretty much everything that's been cut for DLC were just tiny little insignificant things, like armor and weapons. And even then most of it wasn't even cut, just made for a specific retailer. I can say that what the DVD will contain will be good. Missing some bits here and there, and maybe not the sendoff something like ME deserves, but I, unlike most apparently, am willing to put my faith in Bioware - whether they care about money or not.
fact of the matter until any more info on the from ashes shit arises there's no need to flip out because of what you assume is going to happen
here's an idea why don't we, like, not buy any extra weapons or pretty customisation options that don't make a difference and that we don't really give a shit about?
It doesn't matter if it's pointless ingame, it's still taking away important development time that could be used for something better and more noble to the fanbase.
More noble?
It doesn't matter if it's pointless ingame, it's still taking away important development time that could be used for something better and more noble to the fanbase.
They aren't personally connected to the fanbase and no amount of marketing will change that.

The running DLC list
[sub][sub]For the sake of argument, I consider this to be stuff you have to do more than just buying the standard edition of the game after it has come out in order to get[/sub][/sub] M-55 Argus Assault Rifle free for preorders N7 Assault Rifle free with CE N7 Armor free with CE N7 Arsenal SMG free with CE N7 Arsenal Shotgun free with CE N7 Arsenal Sniper Rifle free with CE N7 Arsenal Pistol free with CE AT12 Raider shotgun free for origin preorders N7 hoodie for shepard free with CE Robot dog free with CE [sp]Prothean squadmate[/sp] "from ashes" mission free with CE Reckoner Knight set Free for anyone who played KoA demo N7 Arsenal Pack invalid, all items already mentioned Squad Appearance pack free with CE Collector assault rifle (multiplayer only) Mass Effect: Infiltrator "exclusive weapons" (not stated what) Chakram launcher free for anyone who finished the KoA demo You're seriously telling me that this is an acceptable amount of content to be left out of the game for marketing purposes.
First, 6 of those come in the N7 Arsenal pack, stating that they are all DLC AND also listing the pack is artificially inflating the list. Second, 3 of the 11 DLCs are free for everyone, not an exceptable amount but still note worty. Third, the N7 weapons were clearly made for the N7 Collector's Edition in the first place, so they were going to be DLC regardless. The list of DLC items you have to pay for is: N7 hoodie for shepard Robot dog [sp]Prothean squadmate[/sp] "from ashes" mission N7 Arsenal Pack Squad Appearance pack And possibly the Collector rifle I don't know how you get that 2 DLCs you can only get by preordering are free, one you get for buying the spin off game. 5 of the 11 you have to pay for, and honestly, who's going to buy squad mate pallet swaps or a hoodie? I disagree with the idea of Day 1 DLC as much as anyone but blowing things out of proportion isn't the way to make a point.
It also doesn't matter if the prothean will part of the main game with or without the DLC since it is confirmed he will be recruitable with the DLC which means missions and so forth will include him which is important to know about the lore of the protheans and what happened which is interesting stuff.
