They tried to explain it, and shot themselves in the foot in the process. [sp]They said the protheans were a collections of races, so the ones from the beacon and the ones from the collectors could've been different. Except they went on to say the statues on Illos represented a species long before the protheans. [/sp]
Not really a retcon [sp]especially if the Protheans were as clueless, at first of course, as we are now about the species that came before them, since the Reapers goes in a 50k years cycle[/sp]

[/sp] The only explanation is that it's a vision inside a vision. Mass Inception
[sp]Plus, makes sense if the protheans inside the citadel could not repopulate the galaxy, they probably had incompatible physiology between each other.[/sp]
[sp]What if the vision that Shepard got from the Beacon wasn't a vision of the Prothean's destruction, but the race that had preceded them, which the Protheans had learned about and stored in the beacon as a warning. The statues on Illos could've then been also of that same race, and the Protheans were just studying the ruins, similarly to how the humans on Feros were studying the ruins there. Were the tentacle faced statues at any other "Prothean" ruins, or just the ones on Illos?[/sp]

Mass Inception
[sp]Possibly a different prothean race. Remember that EDI tells us that the genetic material of the collectors descend from the Prothean in the Styx Theta cluster? Maybe those 'protheans' became the Collectors, which doesn't mean that the whole prothean goes the Collector fate.[/sp] [editline]5th February 2012[/editline]
[sp]What if the vision that Shepard got from the Beacon wasn't a vision of the Prothean's destruction, but the race that had preceded them, which the Protheans had learned about and stored in the beacon as a warning. I have a feeling that the ending of ME3 will make me very angry.
I have a feeling that the ending of ME3 will make me very angry.
I'll get angry if Garrus dies.
I have a feeling that the ending of ME3 will make me very angry.
Illusive man is really Shepard from the future.
I'll get angry if Garrus dies.
I'll sue for mental trauma
I have a feeling that the ending of ME3 will make me very angry.
There's quite a few different endings to the game; the game -seems- to account for a decent variety of playthroughs.
I'll get angry if Garrus dies.
I would be in a broken emotional state.
They tried to explain it, and shot themselves in the foot in the process. Except they went on to say the statues on Illos represented a species long before the protheans. [/sp]
That's post-ME2-lore and thus susceptible to retcons and mistakes. I don't know if you tried to point this out, but vigil says in ME1: "the genocide of an entire species".
[p]Possibly a different prothean race. Remember that EDI tells us that the genetic material of the collectors descend from the Prothean in the Styx Theta cluster? Maybe those 'protheans' became the Collectors, which doesn't mean that the whole prothean goes the Collector fate.[/sp]
That makes no sense, it's still the same race. That's as discriminating as saying people from Africa are not humans. Of course protheans from Styx theta are still normal protheans. Probably they are green instead of yellow to play the skin colour card. And please, don't tag ME2 spoilers. We reached a consensus several threads ago that we only tag ME3 spoilers.
The Mass effect 2 vision includes Collectors so it is unlikely.
Exactly, the ME2 vision completes the "downfall of the protheans" by showing first protheans as from the statues on ilos, later on collectors. This matches what EDI and Mordin said during ME2.
I'm in a dillema over what I did in the N7: Lost Operative mission. It's not even really plot but, eh. [sp]I kept the Cerberus data for myself, you know, the encrypted one containing some info about Rachni experiments. I'm thinking this was the right choice since I spared the Rachni queen, and if it gets decrypted by the next game, I could use that to get the queen against Cerberus.[/sp]
Vigil saying "the genocide of an entire species" means nothing really. It's just him saying it takes them a long time just to wipe out one of them. It's not like he was going to say multiple species.
Because it's all in german and so much more expensive than digital.
German retail version has the English sounds included. (PC at least)
German retail version has the English sounds included. (PC at least)
Yeah people buy Collectors Editions for the game and not the other contents...
Yeah people buy Collectors Editions for the game and not the other contents...
I buy the Collectors edition for the liquified human colonies that come with each box set.
The post about 7 pages ago about keepin mass effect 3 saves got me wondering. Maybe they are to import into mass effect? (oringinal) Bear with me. Surely not every reaper would come, they may leave some behind. They cycle then repeats really quickly for some reason that has been specified. The first game starts with Udina and Anderson going. "Well, what about shepard, he defeated the reapers?" "Earthborn, enlisted at *Age*, married to a Quarian/Asari/Drell/Turian/Krogan/Salarian/Batarian." All three games play out exactly the same exept everyone will know you already and you will have to repeat things slightly differently. Depending on your actions in 1, 2 and 3the council will be different each time and they will have a different rouge spectre. And you are fighting to stop the reapers coming again. Then you decide that the suicide mission was good with who you had so you decide to re recruit them all as they have gone back to Working/Prison/Life. Then once you're done you can repeat the cycle again! And again, and again, and again...
Why does smart = compassionate? For all we know there could be a swarm of Von Neumann probes getting close to our solar system right now to destroy us because some alien species figured their only chance of survival in a hostile universe was to create a race of self-replicating life-destroying spacecraft before someone else does it.
maybe compassionate was the wrong word, I just mean human logic would probably dictate we'd be better off learning about them, what they are and what they stand for etc before blindly destroying them. But like I said they aren't gonna necessarily think like us.

They cannot end the third game with a [sp]deus ex machina[/sp] and expect anyone to believe the reaper story could possibly continue. I don't need a gimmicky multiplayer, I love the singleplayer campaigns. If I want good multiplayer there are plenty of games: GoW3, BF3 and maybe even some Halo games. Bioware was known in past for their good singleplayers games. They shouldn't misuse these games to create a successful MP spin-off. It jsut won't work.
I was having a look of what little remains from the ME3 leak ages ago (in terms of info) and Doommarine was right about each class having 4 possible characters: human male & female + 2 aliens. But then again, class powers have been changed completely from the beta as well so...
so whatever happened to phaedon? why doesn't he post in the mass effect threads anymore?
Then once you're done you can repeat the cycle again! And again, and again, and again...
'Kid stopped the Reapers once before, fancies another crack at it. Makes his way to the Citadel, were all folks agreed to go in times of trouble.'
Leaked concept art of deus ex machina: http://i.imgur.com/0FMMm.jpg Dare to look at it and discuss. And some mixed old & new stuff with very minor to no spoilers: Garrus: http://i.imgur.com/r6bzE.jpg Jack: http://i.imgur.com/5sXS6.jpg Ashley: http://i.imgur.com/7NqeA.jpg Vega: http://i.imgur.com/sULj2.jpg Kaidan: http://i.imgur.com/PBtTp.jpg Liara: http://i.imgur.com/ptwZ0.jpg EDI: http://i.imgur.com/bU6u7.jpg Tali & Shepard: http://i.imgur.com/pkXXr.gif
From a technical standpoint, that's impossible. They can't just patch the original game to compensate.
That is a joke.
Tali & Shepard: http://i.imgur.com/pkXXr.gif
I dare not click the ultra-spoilers. Ugh, confirmation that they've not changed Tali's model though. That's annoying. Also, shame they got rid of Vega's war paint. Would have been a nice little touch in the field.
