Could be lots of things. Retranslation form another language, cultural connotation, an overlap with a preexisting existing product, typographic, or coming up with a better name. Adjutant sounds like a space nazi weasel character. Not terribly intimidating.

1. They knew ahead of time how imbalanced the classes versus opening skill levels were and even tried to steer popular thought in a certain direction.
2. Nova cancelling makes that entire diatribe worthless. I've solo'd gold with a human spamguard, and you'll be able to do the same with Asari, with even more lock down control. Meanwhile the Drell is getting raped left and right on gold, and Krogan scale for jack shit, and have horrible power choices for both classes, and rage completely fucks your screen over. MP is amazingly fun, but they have work to do in balancing it out.
I'm kinda disappointed the Mako isn't up there
(in FP's LI choices, not the vanguard stuff)

So far from what I've seen none of the old squadies are one mission squadmates, rather one mission NPCs. Which sucks balls.
