In my defense, DA:O was better in almost every conceivable way (I liked having Hawke speak). Despite that, the combat in DA2 was entertaining, the RPG elements were still quite deep, some of the characters were awesome (Varric), and some of the plotlines were pretty interesting.
Abomination? No. Heavy disappointment relative to Origins? Yes.

Calm down. [sp]I'm pretty sure the Catalyst is just taking the form of a little kid to talk to Shepard (if he's actually the kid I'll be pissed). And the last part is from the epilogue, and the grandfather and kid are descendants of the crew of the Normandy crashed on the uncharted planet. The grandpa is telling the kid the story of Shepard or something. At least thats what I hope it is.[/sp] Still a shitty ending but it wasn't all just a bedtime story as far as I can tell.
