some of you guys take games way too seriously
Sorry that a series I've loved and have been following since 2007 has been given one of the shittiest endings they could've come up with, I'll try not to let emotions flow ever again.
You know... one last thing I'd like to mention?
I didn't know any of this shit until Big Ben forgot to DOUBLE CHECK THAT HE WAS NOT QUOTING A GODDAMN SPOILER.
I WAS SO EXCITED FOR THIS GAME, I WAS COUNTING THE MINUTES.
....I was distracted by my raging that I neglected to properly rage at you, Big Ben. My sincerest apolagies.
You're a poopface.
For all the strange/disappointing things about the ending...I'm surprised this is one of them. Can anyone explain to me what's bad about that?
It's... just... so cliched and simple. You spend 3 games writing these characters, these insane environments and all this crazy stuff and than in the end have it that they [sp]were all a story?[/sp] it seems like the laziest ending ever.

Big spoilers here.
[sp]I also heard that the kid is actually the leader of Reapers or some shit and they are using it as a relay. That's just really retarded cliche writing.[/sp]
People talking about the ending? I'm getting my ass outta here!

It was a 2 second window between realizing my mistake and editing, I'm sorry. I truly am, I wouldn't wish that on anyone. :(
You know who I feel the worst for?
The people who are still so excited for this game. (like I was, grr)
They're gonna be going through this game, enjoying the hell out of it
and then BAM! They're not gonna know what the fuck just happened.
The forums will go insane in a couple of days. Everywhere.
It's almost.. like... the reapers. We can't stop them. There will be no happy ending when they come. We'll all lose.

[sp]i think you're mistaking it for being a fictional story, where it's obviously the legacy of shepard being retold... how is that so bad[/sp]

I have some shit luck then, huh?
Only a matter of time, don't sweat it... someone would've ruined it for me.

That part is dumb as shit, no argument from me. But [sp]the grandfather telling a story to his grandson? There's nothing wrong with that beyond being cliche[/sp]
People talking about the ending? I'm getting my ass outta here!
Get the fuck out
NOW
so you can still like Bioware for a few more days.
I think what we should be mad about is [sp]the reaper leader is a little boy[/sp]

I'm still excited for the game, even knowing the ending. I genuinely do subscribe to the thought process that says the journey is more important than the destination and as long as the character writing is good then I'm still going to enjoy the hell out of the game.
I think what we should be mad about is [sp]the reaper leader is a little boy[/sp]
[sp]It's taking the form of a little boy in order to converse with Shepard. It's not ACTUALLY a little kid that built the Reapers.[/sp]
Hmm. I might actually be misunderstanding it then, really.
[sp]Even if it is a grandpap retelling the legacy...That's better. But then I remember that ALL THE FUCKING RELAYS ARE GONE AND THAT THE NORMANDY CREW GOT STRANDED AND SOMEWHERE ALONG THE LINES GARRUS STARVED TO DEATH AND MOTHER OF GOD WHO WOULD WRITE THAT[/sp]
You know what, we know so much about the ending, and so much about the choices, but I enjoy the fact that we know fuck all about what you have to do to make the right choices.

That's still so INSANELY fucking cliché. Literally, nearly anything else would've been better. But a [sp]fucking little kid is just so lame, and trying to be all tearjerky and grr. You never saw Sovereign or Harbinger pulling this bullshit.[/sp]

Well, let's be honest with ourselves here. This is Bioware we're talking about. What aspects of the Mass Effect series are NOT cliche in some way or another?
Anyone got the original ding dong bannu pictures from that thread? I can't seem to find them anywhere any more :(

I'm just sayin... Harbinger and Sovereign never tried that shit.
[editline]4th March 2012[/editline]
You know, no matter what happens?
Remember that the first 2 games were really awesome, and I'm willing to bet this one will be fantastic up until 10 minutes from the end.
That's like, 90 hours of awesome if you were DLC happy and sidequest loving.
That is dumb. Like, Evangelion dumb.
they also weren't facing defeat at the time? I haven't read too much about hte ending but it's apeparant the reapers will be in a losing state eventually

Very, very little of Mass Effect was cliche or unoriginal. Give me a game that did Space Opera and sci-fi like Mass Effect has, or anything that has taken the same direction it has.
I don't see why everyone's so pissed off. With enemies like the Reapers I never presumed that there would be many, if any truly 'good' endings. I mean it'd be nice to have at least one, but it's not very realistic to expect that.

Star Control II.
God, why did they think Harbinger was good enough to follow up Nazara? Even though we only really talk to him once, he's far more intimidating, and actually kinda scary.
That part is dumb as shit, no argument from me. But [sp]the grandfather telling a story to his grandson? There's nothing wrong with that beyond being cliche[/sp]
[sp]I agree about that part. Nothing really wrong with that except that it's a massive cliche and kinda bad. But the reaper kid, I mean :wtc:[/sp]
Harbinger's a joke
they also weren't facing defeat at the time? I haven't read too much about hte ending but it's apeparant the reapers will be in a losing state eventually
Sovereign was one cool mothahumpa'. I miss him a lot.
God, I'm remembering Sovereign again, and remembering his speech, and I'm just so dissapointed. That was one of my favorite video game moments ever... I... a part of me hopes maybe I'm just being ragey, and when I actually play the game it'll turn out it'll work out or something... you know?
I want to believe.
[sp]I agree about that part. Nothing really wrong with that except that it's a massive cliche and kinda bad. But the reaper kid, I mean :wtc:[/sp]
i think you people are mistaking cliche for "things i hate!! GGRR"
what would have been cliche would have been [sp]it was all a dream/made up story[/sp] which it isnt, it's [sp]heres what happened: story[/sp]
This guy explains things really well.
[sp]I WANT TO STOP ROBOTS FROM KILLING ORGANICS

REAPERS WERE GOOD GUYS ALL ALONG CAN'T YOU SEE
YOU CAN SEE THIS BECAUSE THEIR LEADER IS A CUTE KID
GUYS CAN'T YOU SEE HOW SHOCKING THIS TWIST IS[/sp]
Try and defend this ending.
