hold on actually, i've just been thinking
in mass effect 3, if you where to get all of the war assets, every last one and get the maximum level on the meter
maybe the ending could be different, with the ability to defeat the reapers conventionally
meaning you won't have to do those Deus Ex-ish endings
or maybe it'll open up more options when on the crucible
its a possibility
Nope.
[sp] GAW determines success of the endings, and of your two teams, Sword which is Space and Hammer which is Infantry, it also changes the ending for Destroy where Shepard lives[/sp]
Actually, when you beat the game it [sp]Sends you back before the final mission so you can complete future DLC.[/sp]
So it doesn't really count as it is an infinite loop. ME2 literally let you continue after the end.
Yeah, lets fuck over people. Good idea
How about everyone gets equal treatment and we call it a night.
I'm sorry, but I disagree here. I have absolutely zero sympathy to -anyone- who jumps into Mass Effect 3 and expects to be treated the same as someone who has stuck with the series from the outset. None.
As I've said before, jumping into Mass Effect 3 without playing the previous two is a lot like watching Return of the King without watching the previous two. Sure, you might eventually grasp what's going on but you're missing a lot. And you know what? In a story-driven trilogy, that's how it should be.

I don't see why they'd care. They never played the first 2, they know nothing about what happened in the previous 2 games.

People who start a new game aren't equal to series veterans who are importing their save files.

A good story can stand on its own and doesn't need to handheld new-comers, yet not alienate them, and the same to veterans.
We're both dedicated to Mass-Effect and we're both long-time fans of it, but I don't think anyone who's new to the series should get the shaft like that.
They paid 60USD, they deserve to see that other content they lose out on. Just make it a goddamn little option select like the Genesis comic.
Everyone wins

They paid the same amount as you did for ME3, they deserve no less content.

Alienating them is a sure good way to make them not care, I'll tell you that.
19 hours left, but who's counting?
(Yes, I will keep doing this) :suicide:

But they didn't pay the ~$180 or so for the prior two games (with DLC) now did they?
Rewarding loyal fans is a good thing, and that's what Bioware is doing. This doesn't punish new players too much because much of what they're missing is stuff that they don't know they're missing.
Is there any way to fool origin into thinking I'm in america and not australia?

I suppose, but they still paid for the license of ME3 and the content on that disc.

True. But Mass Effect 2 did this as well; those who played a new game without an import got arguably shittier decisions. Remember, Bioware has to take into account stuff from imports like "Are new players going to have any idea who this is? Are they going to care? If not, maybe they're better off dead."
They're not necessarily limiting the content in order to be malicious, but also to ensure that new players aren't completely overwhelmed by stuff that won't make sense to them.

Unless you're waiting for your "Official" release time, that is.

I'm looking forward to the next chapter of FACEPUNCH Shepard more than the game itself.

And that's true, very true. But I don't feel we're any more entitled, I bought all of the Story DLC of ME2 (besides Kasumi), I bought Digital Deluxe and ME3 Digital Deluxe. Am I somehow more entitled to a good game? Nah I don't think so.
Just give the guys a genesis styled comic, if they care about ME they'd go and play ME1-ME2 in either case (as in comic or not). So I guess it really equals out honestly.
/holy pointless discussion batman
also I can't for the life of me remember why I was referring to Darth as Manuel

I plan on waiting for Official, it sounds so tempting to cheat the system, but to get my account banned or flagged? Just so I can play ME3?
Fukdat
They do punish people who have lost their previous saves though and that is pretty stupid of them.

Banning for a proxy/VPN? Yeah I doubt they'd do that. I've never heard of anyone being banned for it for any release.

Good memories with this Shepard, was interesting to see him steadily improve as time went by. Still, the change between ME1-ME2 to ME3 seem fairly major. All I know is I'm going to have a hell of a lot of fun come Tuesday.
Gotta say, as much as I prefer Sheploo, this is my favourite custom Shep out of any I've seen.

Several expensive gifts from boyfriend? Yeah rather not risk those for an early game
On an unrelated note: The entire ME3 Collector's Edition Soundtrack is up and ready for a listen. And it's glorious

So anyone with CE/DD ever listen to the sound-track? The romance theme is beautiful ("I was lost without you")

what a coincidence of you Jean :v:

I've done it for both Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3 and my account is fine, EA have even said it's fine before.
If it's that much of a concern you can just unlock the game and play offline until your official release.

Oh hey, this guy streaming the game is showing the auto-matic dialouge.
I actually don't mind and don't get why he is bitching, they streamlined investigate into natural conversations with much more human interaction like actual movement and acting.
I think Bioware has the right idea, you obviously are going to fucking "investigate" and if its not important, why let me investigate it, it obviously doesn't matter. Just Streamline it into a natural flowing convo and I'm good.
Of course this is just from one or two conversations... From what I know this will just shit itself furiously.
Well, gentlemen, tonight is the night. Tonight, I begin my playthroughs of Mass Effect 1, and 2, in order to prepare for Mass Effect 3. I'm going for all the side quests, and all the DLC. This should be fun.
Well, just watched the worst possible ending for ME3 in its entirety, sound and all. When it's all put together, it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected it to be. That said, I would still prefer more options for the finale.

Which ending? As there is those 3 and a few variations.
