People just think the endings are bad because they haven't played the entire game that precedes them.
Imo, Endings aren't bad if you digest and think them over.
[sp] I.E, ignore the symbolism of "Destroy" and how it allows life and all species to grow on their own and make their own choices, no longer guided by Reaper Tech like Mass-Relays, and in a way reinforces the motif of Mass-Effect, that we are individuals with choice. Notice the endings are left open-ended, He says the Geth die, for they are Synths, but so is Shepard, Shepard lives if you get 5000+ GAW points. They never say what happens to the Normandy Crew. So you want your happy ending? There you go, Imagine the crew gets rescued, everyone parts ways to their own lives, and Shepard lives with their LI while rebuilding life.[/sp]

This too.
I don't see why they'd care. They never played the first 2, they know nothing about what happened in the previous 2 games.
I played first 2 but on 360, it is now broke and out of warranty. I'm buying 3rd for pc.
They should at least give the option to manually pick the other games options if we wanted to.
People just think the endings are bad because they haven't played the entire game that precedes them.
Yeah, they may not be great, but they probably are better in context.
What gets me about people complaining about the ending is that the majority of you would still complain regardless of what the ending was.
The amount i've seen people hype themselves up in this thread, it's no wonder people are disappointed in the ending, especially when it's out of context.
Honestly I love the endings and I love how morally open and mentally open they are. Fill in the gaps yourself and do what you feel is the best.
Honestly I love the endings and I love how morally open and mentally open they are. Fill in the gaps yourself and do what you feel is the best.
aka the best way to play mass effect
I have no problem with the endings themselves, but the way how all the previous "grand choices" are meaningless and [SP] you get a pretty shitty situation no matter what [/SP]. there's also the fact that they're pretty much the same thing, you can't get radically differing endings
Oh thank god, this thread is the first place I've found where people don't think the endings are shit. In the thread in the Videos forum, everyone was bashing the fuck out of it, so I thought, "fuck it, if it's that shit, it won't make a difference if I watch it now."
Biggest mistake I've made for a while.
Oh thank god, this thread is the first place I've found where people don't think the endings are shit.
uh, almost the entire thread think that.
I like how everyone bitches the endings make no difference.
Besides the fact they do

doesn't EDI do most of the 'driving' anyway?

except they dont
universe is fucked every which way
There is one thing I don't understand, why 50,000 years. [sp]You would think that any species making an AI that destroys their creators would probably do that in a lot less than even 5000 years.[/sp]

how about somthing to lighten the mood?

Now I want someone to invent a device that can remove certain memories, all of the mass effect 3 details and maybe 2 and 1 as well. And maybe the fact that darth vader is Luke's father.
Too much has been leaked, i think it's dumb to want to find out what happens in a game that you're hyped for. I would prefer to run in blindly.
[sp]There you go, Imagine the crew gets rescued, everyone parts ways to their own lives, and Shepard lives with their LI while rebuilding life.[/sp]
So you're saying i'm paying for a game where I have to make up the ending for myself? And that is somehow a satisfactory thing? That sounds unbelievably lazy on Bioware's part.
That isn't a positive aspect of storytelling, you shouldn't have an ending so vague and wide open that there is no ending unless you write fanfiction about it.

I was hoping to see more of those!
Oh god the demo is downloading at 20 kb/s. Powered by EA obviously.

EA servers are many and fast, that is something on your end or your ISP's end.

That wasn't on earth. :P

Obviously not. Steam downloads average 1.3 - 1.5 MB/S for me.
Well, EB Games called me this morning and reminded me to swing by for the midnight release.
Although all the ending talk on here has me worried. Why can't I resist this topic?!

This is one of the greatest things I've ever seen.
Obviously not. Steam downloads average 1.3 - 1.5 MB/S for me.
Obviously you don't know much about how server connections work. Perhaps it's a bandwidth issue.
Is it just that Harbinger was a really boring enemy, or are reapers not as horrifying as they were in mass effect 1? The whole of me2 failed inspire as much dread in me as the prothean talking on the security panel on ilos (not vigil). "Cannot be stopped... [static] ...cannot be stopped" chills me to the bone.
doesn't EDI do most of the 'driving' anyway?
No. She only monitors the systems and gives assistance during a firefight. However at the end of Mass Effect 3 she was given full control of all ships systems. So she is capable of, however chooses not to, control the ship entirely.
Actually no, it's a very positive aspect of good storytelling. A bad story will completely 100% spoonfeed you everything. That's not interesting, at least not to me. One thing I look for in a good story is imagination--the writers need to leave some things open for the viewer/reader to imagine for themselves. If there's no room for imagination, it's just really not that interesting. Understandably it's not for everyone, some people prefer the spoon feeding, but I'd much rather have something that's left open to interpretation.
It has less to do with leaving something to your imagination and more so that it's so fucking bad you have to pretend something else happened entirely.
Is it just that Harbinger was a really boring enemy, or are reapers not as horrifying as they were in mass effect 1? Yea in Mass Effect 2 they were less of a threat and more of a nuisance. Mass Effect 3 they seem to be a plague, but if Shepard can get off Earth no problem (despite raining reapers) I really don't think the Reapers are anything to worry about since they clearly cannot prioritize their targets properly. Stupid machines...
A bad story will completely 100% spoonfeed you everything.
I'm not talking about them spoon feeding you everything. But doing absolutely nothing with the ending, leaving it so wide open and blank that there is no implication of anything happening other than 'think it up yourself you shithead', is terrible writing. Or lack of any writing at all.
