What?! They ruined the point of the fucking book then.
The point of the book wasn't whether Jonas dies or not. It was more of a bleak interpretation of a "perfect" society. That ending to ME3 isn't as grim as I expected considering how [sp]The door is shown opening at the end, implying at least SOMEONE survived[/sp]

So the ending has to do with [sp]a door? Huh. Doesn't sound too bad.[/sp]
picture
So it takes place in the Winter? Shit, this is like The Giver! Almost done ME2. Just got a few loyalty missions, the IFF, the Collector Base and a few DLC to do. Best case scenario is me finishing tonight, worst case is me finishing 10 minutes before I leave for EB Games tomorrow night.
Image that spoils the ending of me3
Why the fuck are you posting spoilers?
I'm not reading this thread because there are spoilers out the wazoo here, but has anybody had their collectors edition shipped that ordered from amazon? My Game of Thrones bluray was shipped earlier today, but ME3 hasn't. They guaranteed Tuesday delivery, so I hope it will be here by then.
How does the above image spoil the story at all? What can you gather from that image, without knowing the actual ending?
How does the above image spoil the story at all? What can you gather from that image, without knowing the actual ending?
The point is that it is a spoiler of the game, it doesn't have to spoil the story to be a spoiler.
How does the above image spoil the story at all? What can you gather from that image, without knowing the actual ending?
That it ends with Shepard sledding down a hill, leaving me confused and annoyed. Oh wait, sorry, Giver again.
Well, just finished my final playthrough of ME2 for import. 28hr, 46 minutes. Paragade Sheploo Manguard, Liara Romance. 100% completion.
How does the above image spoil the story at all? What can you gather from that image, without knowing the actual ending?
In ME3 [sp]there will exist planets with trees[/sp]
In ME3 [sp]there will exist planets with trees[/sp]
You have no need to be dick. Most of us come in here to have spoiler free discussions of Mass Effect 3, no matter how big or little it is. Show some respect, not be an ass.

I wish I could do a preparation playthrough of the games, but there's just no time... Looks like I'm stuck with Ash... fuck.
By your logic the trailers themselves contain spoilers. The screenshots in the op contain more spoilers.
Very true, and I am sure many people avoid watching trailers that show gameplay for that very reason.
Some of the quotes of the BW forums are quiet funny. "The story is told by a senile old man. Did you really expect it to make sense in the slightest?"

In other Mass Effect-related news, I'm deep into my playthrough of ME2, and just finished infiltrating the Collector Base, so I go to chat with my squad-mates. All of a sudden Jack starts telling me a sob story about a boyfriend or something leaving her, and I'm thinking "Wait, this is new dialogue, I don't remember her saying this when I played on the Xbox" and I realize that somehow, despite saying "Not Interested" twice at different points of interaction, there was almost a romance pursued with Jack. I finally shut it down (I hope), and Shepard comes off as a major dick, and now all Jack says is "Fuck you!" Is that it? Did I end the romance attempt? I want my Shepard to remain faithful to the ME1 love interest, and I don't want to have ruined anything.
Very true, and I am sure many people avoid watching trailers that show gameplay for that very reason.
We like to call them retards.
and if she's saying fuck you yeah it's done
We like to call them retards.
So they are retarded because they don't want to know a single thing that can diminish the value of their game play experience? No, that is a very rude thing to say.
and if she's saying fuck you yeah it's done
Thank God, Jack's a crazy bitch. I just hope I don't hear about it in ME3 somehow from someone. I'll be pissed. I also figured the best confirmation would be if Shepard looked at the picture frame, and walked off, then I'm safe, so I'll have to wait and see. However, based on that, I should be in the clear.
i don't see how looking at pictures and watching videos diminishes people's experiences at all... actually playing the game is a much different feeling. i watched the scene with the kid in vancouver probably 50 times before the demo and i still felt emotional if not more so when i actually saw it for myself.
The giver had a sequel that said their fate though.
Not only a sequel, apparently it's part of a loose trilogy starting with The Giver, then Gathering Blue, and finally Messenger. Got to read those two books now. I'm a massive fan of The Giver. Wonderful book. [sp](Especially when you compare it with the rest of the books I had to read in 8th grade. Fuck you Inventing Elliot. Get burned)[/sp]

I feel no connection whatsoever to the Mass Effect universe if I'm just watching a youtube video. But if I'm playing it, suddenly it's one of the most immersive games ever. Same effect applies to Skyrim, Dragon Age, etc. The people I'm watching...those aren't MY characters. And that disconnect is enough that even seeing the ending beforehand doesn't ruin a damn thing. Sure, I know where I'm going, but how do I get there?
this, exactly people who talk about the endings being the most important part of the game or that none of your previous choices matter obviously don't get Mass Effect
So what is the point of Mass Effect 3 then? Because the choices mattering was kinda the main reason anyone gave a shit to import saves all the way to 3.
So what is the point of Mass Effect 3 then? Because the choices mattering was kinda the main reason anyone gave a shit to import saves all the way to 3.
all of the previous choices obviously matter, so that's why anyone saying they don't is just dumb
this, exactly people who talk about the endings being the most important part of the game or that none of your previous choices matter obviously don't get Mass Effect
Except they do. People have a right to be angry when Mass effect 2 is invalidated and you making the perfect crew kind of meant little.
But we don't know if it's meant little or not. Unless you read the script and it says that, in which case you're an idiot.
Except they do. People have a right to be angry when Mass effect 2 is invalidated and you making the perfect crew kind of meant little.
*raise eyebrow* When was Mass Effect 2 invalidated? From what we've seen, ME2's expansion of Cerberus, the genophage project, and the quarian/geth conflict are quite important to the plot of Mass Effect 3. Additionally, from what I've heard, characters like Miranda play a significant role.
