I can't think of a single reason they didn't use this ending over the actual one
All the staff behind it left the company?
I'm starting to think they're trolling us.
I think Mac just got Lead Writer syndrome, and Casey changed Drew's original endings anyway so....
What coulda woulda shoulda been.

I couldn't help myself I watched the ending on youtube and i don't even know what to think right now. I'll still be getting the game but that was by the far the shittiest way to end something I've ever seen. just wow.

[sp]Agreed, both of them are pretty shit TBQH. There's a time and a place to leave me with questions, Bioware, and it's not at the fucking conclusion of your flagship series. If you're relying on the fans to make their own interpretation of what happens when everything is said and done, you're not doing your fucking job.[/sp]

I'm apparently in the minority, but I don't take issue with Miranda's appearance, barring a few strangely lit scenes.

Certainly not a perfect recreation of Yvonne Strahovski's face, but unattractive? Nah.
Original Ending,
[sp]Drew Karpyshyn's original plan for the trilogy's ending was:
"The Reapers' goal was to find a way to stop the spread of Dark Energy which would eventually consume everything. That's why there was so much foreshadowing about Dark Energy in ME2.
The Reapers as a whole were 'nations' of people who had fused together in the most horrific way possible to help find a way to stop the spread of the Dark Energy. The real reason for the Human Reaper was supposed to be the Reapers saving throw because they had run out of time. Humanity in Mass Effect is supposedly unique because of it's genetic diversity and represented the universe's best chance at stopping Dark Energy's spread.
The original final choice was going to be "Kill the Reapers and put your faith in the races of the galaxy in finding another way to stop the spread with what little time is left" or "Sacrifice humanity, allowing them to be horrifically processed in hopes that the end result will justify the means."

I have no idea how genetic diversity ties into stopping dark energy (I think making a super Reaper salarian would be their best bet there) but this would at the very least make ME2's plot relevant and tie in more closer with what the series had foreshadowed as opposed to what the leaks are saying about the game's actual endings.[/sp]
I don't know, maybe this.
[sp]When they join together into a Reaper form, their minds mingle, they share experience and a lot of ideas. Diversity genetically, culturally and intelectually means there is far more creativity and a lot more room for new ideas. These new ideas can be shit, but those ones are discarded while the true gems created can be used, either way there is a lot more range.
I wouldn't say there was a rush to get the Collectors and work on the human Reaper, many signs did point to hitting Earth, a feat they obviously could not do without Reaper heavy support. A good chance that the Colonies were required for an initial start to the process and it was far simpler to take the time earlier on to get it ready and not have to worry about storing the subjects for so long.
Also explains why they get them to use their technology, in numerous ways. Reaper tech is safer, organics are far less likely to evolve unexpected ways that could cause more damage, especially with the presence of Dark Matter in some systems. It also guarantees that the solutions they provide and their ways of thinking already have the basic nature of the problem comprehended eliminating any problems incorrect due to a different premise.[/sp]
I like that ending.

Unfortunately, I think that applies to every human face in the game. Try as Bioware might, there's always -something- that's just a little bit off in the animation or modelling. With Jacob it's his teeth, Miranda's face modelling, Ashley's derp eyes, whatever. Jack looked pretty damn good though, as did Liara's much-improved animation in Lair of the Shadow Broker.
Aliens tend to look realistic as hell, thanks to their more unique traits. Krogan seem to animate especially well.

well that's what they get when they try to model real people

Don't forget about Legion's animation.
Since he didn't have a 'face', they gave him the shifting head plates. Also how his eye moved.
I just think it worked really well.

oh man, only 8 and a half more hours to go until unlock, perfect time for me, get home from school ~4 minutes after it unlocks.
Well hot damn, just found out something interesting. Some big Mass Effect 3 spoilers incoming regarding the quarian/geth conflict.

[sp]Geth vs. Quarians
In order to achieve peace between the two races, you need to get 5 to 7 points. These points are based on your ME2 and ME3 decisions. If you have 4 points or below, you cannot achieve peace.
-Rewrote the Heretics (0 points)
-Destroyed the Heretics (+2 points)
-Tali is NOT exiled (+2 points)
-Tali has been exiled/You did not do the Loyalty Mission (0 points)
-Resolved Legion/Tali conflict either using the Paragon or Renegade options (+1 point)
-N7 Mission: Save the Admiral on Rannoch in ME3 (+1 point)
-N7 Mission: Destroy Geth Squadron on Rannoch in ME3 (+1 point)
-Completed Legion's Mission in ME3 (or no peace)
You will need a HIGH reputation for the peace talks. If you rewrote the heretics in ME2 BUT achieve peace, you will gain more war assets, but there'll be less quarians. Also, if you rewrote them, you will face more geth than people who destroyed them, in which they'll face less geth.[/sp]
Looks like our decisions in Mass Effect 2 will matter. A lot.

I'm particularly fond of how Legion mimics Shepard's animations when Shepard first activates Legion. If you notice, Legion copies what Shepard does a half second after. Very, very nice touch.
And now for something completely different. For those of you importing your Shepard into ME3, what's your first Shepard going to be like?
Jean-Luc Shepard
Default Sheploo
Vanguard
Paragade (100% Paragon, 20% Renegade)
Liara Romance
Saved Council & Rachni Queen
Recommended Udina
Kept Genophage data
Destroyed Geth Heretics
Destroyed Collector Base
Everyone survives and is loyal
I'm definitely going to try a non-import Shepard after to see just how different the game is.
Shepard Shepard
Custom Female
Not sure!
Neutral with a slightly higher paragon
Liara romance
Saved council, killed Queen
Recommended Anderson
Destroyed Data
Destroyed Geth heretics
Destroyed Collector Base
Everyone survives(minus Kirrahe qq) and is loyal

It does not. It specifically deals with decisions you made regarding Tali and Legion's loyalty missions and conflict resolution.
Still gonna buy even if I got spoiled with the endings.

- Free David Archer & take him to Grissom Academy for rehabilitation.
- Let Gavin Archer take care on him, and continue to experiment on him, albeit in a more humane way.
This choice does come into play, provided you completed the DLC. If you didn't...I can't say for certain whether or not this will play into ME3.

Ashley's appearance still irritates me. The hair is okay; the casual outfit is not.
