It refreshing to see people not screaming RUINED FOREVERRRRRRR at everything.
but at least those endings didnt throw out every single option youve made in a span of three games. [sp]spend a lot of time getting the best endings and making sure certain characters didnt die or were happy. Ending 1: everybody dies, ending 2: everybody dies, ending 3: maybe everybody doesn't die[/sp] yeah, fuck you ME3.
Something people seem to not be grasping here is that you dont play games to win or to beat it, you play it for the expierence and im ASSuming that if you play ME1, 2, and 3 you will have a blast playing it, with a conclusive ending. I mean holy shit, we dont know what happens UP to the end, I mean everyone but you and Garrus could ALREADY be dead.
Game releases tomorrow, and is probably already at my house, and I won't be fuck'n home till Saturday. Major anticipation. On the way home I'll go to sleep and wake up with an erection.
I'm glad I don't have the pessimism many here seem to possess.
If you're pessimistic you'll never be disappointed

You can't just write off sub-par endings with the excuse "But it's the experience that matters!" If the endings just aren't good, the experience as a whole is lessened. When you've built up my choices as important, and then leave me with three endings that are all shades of the same colour, no matter what I do, what was the point of having any choice during the experience? I realize that many people like the ambiguity. Good for you, I'm glad you're happy. But I came in expecting results. I threw down $90 on a pre-order expecting results. When you've already stated that we'd have a "variety of endings", which I distinctly remember Bioware saying, and then leave me with three ambiguous endings, I'm going to be a little annoyed. Could've just added an ending where things are tied up, but no.

EDIT: What ever, you guys keep bitching about how bioware let you down. Ill go enjoy ME3 with everyone else who isn't crying.

It's hard to care as much about "the experience" when I know that I'm heading down one path. Also, spoilers, but news regarding endings (Possibly) Apparently from a discussion between one of the devs and a member of the BSN.

I mean maybe the ending is fucking perfect once you play through ME3. EDIT: Looked at the link, See, apparently there are more endings. I just think most people are over-reacting and should give the game a chance.

Seven endings that are, in fact, three endings + a character caveat is not that.

And I'm not trying to say that I'm going to hate ME3. I would've cancelled my pre-order if I thought that. But I am disappointed by what I have seen so far in regards to the endings. I would've been disappointed whether I had been spoiled or not. I genuinely hate ambiguity in this sense. I'm a simple man, I like my stories to have conclusions. If the conclusion is disappointing, I'm not going to feel as good about the experience because it will have been essentially building to nothing. I love cooking. I can bake a cake and enjoy that experience, but if the cake ends up tasting like shit, the joy received from the experience will be mitigated as the payoff is minimized.
Nice blanket categorization, but some people want a good ending and by good I mean fulfilling and also a VARIETY of endings as was promised.
Good reading, There are 3 endings leaked, we dont know if there are more, well nevermind, we just got it confirmed via http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/3220/img20120305143448.jpg that there are more then just the 3 endings leaked. Basically, There are more endings, stop complaining, you'll still get a good ending. Let me post this a couple times (spoiler - basically more then just the 3 datamined endings confirmed ) http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/3220/img20120305143448.jpg http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/3220/img20120305143448.jpg http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/3220/img20120305143448.jpg http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/3220/img20120305143448.jpg
That doesn't confirm anything. Other than the "7" previously established. I'd love for the non-certification end user copies to have more. That'd be great. They are extreme unlikely to have been missed, given that the esrb is pretty stringent about surprise content.
When did the ending stop being part of the experience?
When did the ending become the whole experience? Take Bioshock for example, I love the game, hell its one of my favorites! That being said, the ending was absolutely HORRIBLE. Did I mind? Yeah, but the rest of the game more than made up for it. And even then, there's apparently more endings than we thought, so relax a bit.
So when do I get my free copy of battlefield 3? I pre-orderd it when the offer was on. :v:
the mass effect soundtrack has 1536 bit rate. I did not know that was possible
I'm not convinced that there's more endings until something more conclusive is revealed. I want to believe. And again, I agree that the ending is not the entire experience, but in a trilogy like Mass Effect in which I have invested so much time and made so many choices, my enjoyment will be mitigated if I am left with questions. I'm positive I'm going to enjoy the hell out of it in the moment, but if I get to the end and I'm left with questions to which there are no answers, that enjoyment will be lessened a bit. All there needs to be is one ending that ties things up with a bow. Just one.
the mass effect soundtrack has 1536 bit rate. I did not know that was possible
What does that mean exactly?

It literally answered nothing and made us ask even more question. Shit ending. I mean I don't play GoW for the story, but come on... But still, even if ME3 pulls an ending that's just as bad as GoW3's (very, VERY unlikely), the rest of the game seems like it'll make up for it.

I liked Gears of War's story, same with the ending.

I guess I'm just not that type of person. I like things to be simple and easy to understand. I like loose ends being tied up. It's why my favourite part of ME1 was the paragon ending. It was fucking metal and left me with no question as to where things were headed. It certainly can work in many cases, but in Mass Effect where I've invested so much time and done so much, to be left unknowing feels cheap to me. Being left to come up with an answer on my own feels meaningless unless something actually validates it.
What does that mean exactly?
It takes up an assload of space

(I'm not challenging you or anything I'm just wondering as I might've never considered them). You can PM the answer if you want, since this is the Mass Effect thread and all.
The combat music on Mars is great. Very ME1ish. Needed more of it in ME2.
Just played the demo. My first impressions of this game is shit. WTF is up with the kids? This isn't Independence Day motherfuckers. Besides that movie was horrible. Oh god they should fire the person in charge of combat animations. Run animation is retarded. Or all the surfaces in the future are nearly frictionless. Sprint animation is just as bad, or future people all have Parkinson at birth. Camera zoomed in so much it feels like Shepard is really on a skateboard. Crabwalk when moving side to side behind cover is just......
What does that mean exactly?
It means it hasn't been compressed very much (possibly not at all), meaning the audio quality will be near perfect.
WTF is up with the kids? This isn't Independence Day motherfuckers. Besides that movie was horrible.
Maybe that's the mystery good ending. Randy Quaid flies his fighter into the Reaper MacGuffin, saving us all.
finally and just in time, finished my me2 game completely, all dlc done and level 30 ready for tomorrow
How do we view achievements or whatever you want to call them in ME3? In ME2 you could just use the medal in Shepard's Quarters but its non-intractable now..
finally and just in time, finished my me2 game completely, all dlc done and level 30 ready for tomorrow
Shit! I knew I was forgetting something!
