So besides the endings, which everyone seems to hate or at least feel is extremely inadequate, how would you rate the game?
Disregarding the endings, it is my favorite game. 9.8 / 10, there were just too few other slip-ups. Some truly wonderful, touching, endearing moments; I have felt gobsmacked with awe and been given genuine pause throughout the game, and if I had something to look forward to I could play it again and again, as I did Mass Effect 2.
Even now I needed to see [sp]the thresher maw kill a reaper[/sp] one more time.
BSN is easily more retarded than 4chan. Seriously, some of their ratings are just stupid. Game had a bad ending but was excellent throughout the rest, 7/10. How the fuck? It was excellent except for freaking 1% of the game and that knocks out 3 points right there? Some of them you have to wonder if they honestly need help remembering to breathe.

The ending can have a really big impact on the way you view something.

It flat out amazes me that people are arguing that the ending to a trilogy they've loved for 'x' amount of years doesn't mean shit. It's the ending to Shepard's arc, it's the end. Endings have a huge impact on people, especially when they've been invested in the story for this long.
Hope that Bioware decides to make a Broken Steel style DLC soon. [sp] The endings really bummed me out after playing it :([/sp]
The ending is the final moment of game, if its shit, you should've just came with nothing.

imagine you go to a restaurant.
you get the best meal of your life. Multiple courses by a famous chef.
For dessert, you spring for the chocolate cake, paired with an expensive Spanish port.
Except instead of wine, they accidentally pour you a glass or two of ipecac and you spend the rest of the night and half of the morning constantly throwing up not only the dinner, but also what you had for breakfast and lunch.
That's what ME3's ending is like.
Woah big words.
Slow down.
oh no im killing myself me3 didnt end like i wanted it do im really bummed rip thanks alot bioware
oh no im killing myself me3 didnt end like i wanted it do im really bummed rip thanks alot bioware
It ended pretty close to how I wanted it to. [sp]I have no problem with Shepard sacrificing himself, I have no problem with destroying the mass relays.
What I want is closure.
And actually I also want an ending that doesn't completely destroy Shepard's character, isn't hypocritical on the Reapers' side, isn't retarded.[/sp]
All these descriptions of ships with Thanix cannons. And I didn't see one of them fired the whole game. Not even from the Normandy.

I think the Normandy fired it once or twice.

This is a mass effect thread
Mass effect 3 had a bad ending
Thus, people in this thread are talking about Mass Effect 3's bad ending
if you think it was anything other than terrible you should probably reassess your knowledge of storytelling

The thanix cannons fire lumps of plasma at really high speeds. Cosmetically, there's no difference between them and the average blue sci-fi shooty blaster.
Most Alliance and Turian ships were equipped with Thanix cannons by ME3.
Can anyone link to that comic where it's like 100 percent paragon then you go to 99 percent paragon after hitting the reporter chick in the beginning?

"The script got out and redos had to happen, so how does a dev team extract its vengeance? by giving you an "ending" so people stop looking for the leaks, then you can get the real deal later (has to be quickly later before the masses get above the usual forum uproar level) and it won't have been spoiled"
[sp]I sure am damn glad that I let Cerberus keep the collector base. Finding the Human Reaper remains gave a boost of over 100 to the Crucible.[/sp]
Also holy fuckballs the Sabre is a god damn AMAZING weapon. Load it up with Disruptor or Inferno ammunition and slap a precision scope and extended barrel on it, it goddamn destroys everything.
So besides the endings, which everyone seems to hate or at least feel is extremely inadequate, how would you rate the game?
I'd give it an 8.
I personally just haven't liked the direction it's been going in since ME2, so I'm not even that bitter at the end as I am just with the whole plot in general.
I've also encountered more bugs in it than ME2 and ME1 combined, some of them are downright horrible, and some of them are actually just things the devs completely overlooked.
So I did a play through as a Vanguard, what class should i pick next? I was thinking Engineer or Adept.

[sp]You get a boost either way. If you destroyed the base, Cerberus still manages to salvage tech from the wreckage.[/sp]
Admiral Gerrel is such a fucking dickhead [sp]punching him after the Geth Dreadnought mission felt so damn good.[/sp]

To contrast this, I give the game a 9.3/10. I loved the gameplay, the story up to the ending, and I haven't encountered any bugs unlike ME1 and 2.

The Normandy destroys a couple of oculus' with Thanix cannons after you go through the Omega 4 Relay in ME2. I believe I saw it do the same during the assault on Earth. It just looks like a blue plasma shot but sounds like a pew pew with a shit ton of bass.
[sp] You might regret that. [/sp]
[sp]nah I was able to get peace with the quarians and geth no problem even though I did that[/sp]

[sp] Does that mean you destroyed the heretics in ME2? [/sp]
Alot of people are having trouble passing the final speech check, is it where The Illusive Man [sp]shoots himself[/sp]?
If so I did it without even trying :v:

I've encountered a shit ton of animation bugs during conversations. When I was talking to Liara, Shepard was staring off to the left abnormally, then he turned his head all the way to right, when I could make eye contact with him, his eyes were rolling around in his eye sockets almost like the model didn't know what it was tracking.
You can hate the ending, but I found the atmosphere of the final choice to be incredible
You can hate the ending, but I found the atmosphere of the final choice to be incredible
I thought the final choice itself was just really dumb. It seemed like it would work a lot better in a totally different context. It's just waaaay out of place in the Mass Effect story. The lack of proper closure just made it worse.

I agree, in retrospect it really didn't feel like Mass Effect.
I'm just saying that music with that background and that lighting
oh baby
