You'd think after all this, Shepard would be at least the fucking mega general x2. But noooo, let's keep him a commander.
There are just some little things about this game that are lazy, but the rest of the 20 hours of the game is fucking fantastic, people just love to overreact, and its stupid. I love ME3, ME2, and ME1, and the ending doesn't ruin my life, or the franchise, I still love it, I do wish the ending wasn't so bad, but I like to hold to the concept of it being a dream, as that is actually pretty interesting.
I'm hoping it's either a dream or a hallucination, as much as I hate that move so much. It takes a certain kind of shit to make me actually hope for my most hated literary move, so to speak.
This reminded just me. I was so distraught over the ending that I forgot about the game itself. I thought it was a tad short and they also removed the exploration and deeper side quests. I got 35-40 hours out of the first two games and that was going at a normal pace. I barely got 23 hours out of this game and to be honest, I was trying to prolong the experience. It seems like all of the minor assignments were just artifact harvesting and running around the Citadel giving items to their respective owners. Correct me if I am wrong but I distinctly remember exploring in the first few games and finding unique quests that were fairly lengthy. The given side quests were also more involving and there were a lot more of them.
How did you get 23 hours on your first run in this game? I was flying through it and it still took me 34 hours to beat on Hardcore, and that doesn't count the numerous restarts during large fights.
End related spoilers here: [sp]So after some thinking while browsing the last... 15 pages(?), I have come to the conclusion that EDI and the Geth are destroyed because they are based on Reaper technology(EDI was mentioned she was built on Reaper tech in the 2nd game, and the Geth because of the Reaper code). And the Catalyst looking like the kid is because it's something familiar to Shepard, like when he was inside Tron world. The Quarians in the history videos were all in those suits because Shepard has only seen Tali without her mask on(if you romanced her in ME2). So Shepard asking that question would result in the same reply Legion gave. Also I'm assuming there will be mission DLC relating to why the Reapers were focusing so much on London. Maybe something is hidden there and is an alternative way to defeating the Reapers, and why Harbinger and other Sovereign type Reapers came down to the Earth personally to stop Shepard.[/sp]
Gonna back out of this thread to avoid spoilers. PM me if you need avatar help.
Made some avatars for whoever wants them. Some are a little wonky, but I'm not too worried about it. Aw yeah Cerberus up in this~

Albeit I played on normal but I played ME1 and ME2 on normal as well. [editline]11th March 2012[/editline]
Oh man only 23 hours? Shit dude that fucking sucks! Not like that's longer than nearly every single singleplayer experience made in the last decade!
That's short for an RPG considered I amassed a ridiculous amount of time on Dragon Age.
I got around 23 hours and my friend got 26 and he was slower. Albeit I played on normal but I played ME1 and ME2 on normal as well. [editline]11th March 2012[/editline] That's short for an RPG considered I amassed a ridiculous amount of time on Dragon Age.
That's short for an RPG full of repetitive side quests that I don't even care about, but for an RPG fucking full to the brim of story and plot and important shit, that is fucking top tier shit.
You'd think after all this, Shepard would be at least the fucking mega general x2. Haven't seen any allience generals in the game, though, nor colonels.
Why has my most recent playthrough, on Insanity, felt so much easier than my first playthrough on Hardcore? I swear it seems like Brutes and Banshees die faster.
any way to get transparency working on these avatars? they're wonderful, but i would love them even more if i didn't have white corners :(
That's short for an RPG full of repetitive side quests that I don't even care about, but for an RPG fucking full to the brim of story and plot and important shit, that is fucking top tier shit.
Well if we're being honest, ME3 had its share of fetch quests. Still, it felt like an appropriate length. Wasn't a true epic like Dragon Age Origins, but it could be considered one if you combine all three.
Why has my most recent playthrough, on Insanity, felt so much easier than my first playthrough on Hardcore? I swear it seems like Brutes and Banshees die faster.
Having the particle rifle at the start makes the game piss-easy. So overpowered.
It feels like the commander is the highest military rank in the allience that doesn't come with a specific military post. Haven't seen any allience generals in the game, though, nor colonels.
Well, you haven't seen any Colonels because that rank doesn't exist in the Alliance Military. Multiplayer is really fun but one thing that really annoys me is how you unlock new items. I should be able to pick what shit I want and not have the game pick a bunch of shit I don't need.
That's short for an RPG full of repetitive side quests that I don't even care about, but for an RPG fucking full to the brim of story and plot and important shit, that is fucking top tier shit.
If that's your view on side quests I deeply pity that. Side quests can be just as interesting and have stories themselves and offer more variety to the game. Also, that is just the thing I found of fault with this game. After scanning every solar system and returning all the artifacts/what-have-you, I had only a handful of things left to do before the suicide mission. Go figure that most of my time was playing a game of tag with Reapers. The gameplay being as fun as it was, this game just seems to get narrower and narrower compared to other RPG's that Bioware has made.
Well, you haven't seen any Colonels because that rank doesn't exist in the Alliance Military. Thanks video game for the 4th adept after mine has been 20 for days.
What kind of commander was shep...then?
Considering Ashley was an LC, probably Staff Commander. I guess.
Considering Ashley was an LC, probably Staff Commander. I guess.
I thought Ashley was Gunnery Chief, then promoted to Staff Lieutenant. EDIT:
By the time of the events of Mass Effect 3, Ashley has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander
Well, looks like you're right.
It feels like the commander is the highest military rank in the allience that doesn't come with a specific military post. Haven't seen any allience generals in the game, though, nor colonels.
Well, honestly, they should've given Commander Shepard his own rank, since apparently he is able to sway political decisions of entire species to his whim. So let's just call him The Legendary Shephard.
God damn. You people are talking about 4000 and 5000 EMS and here I am still BELOW 1000. The last major mission I did was the Female Krogan/Sur'Kesh mission, so I'm not sure how far in I am. I've done a lot of the fetch quests, but I still can't do some of them (like the Volus' book or scrolls) because the systems required to finish them still aren't accessible yet if that helps anyone gauge my progress.
I thought Ashley was Gunnery Chief, then promoted to Staff Lieutenant.
Pretty sure I remember Shepard referring to her as LC. Also, according to the Mass Effect wiki Shepard is an LC as well.
The quarian/geth conflict boosts it substantially.
fucking bullshit shit fuck i'm still pissed off. wrex and garrus were the best combo ever with tali and garrus being a close 2nd best. [sp]now i have nothing left.[/sp]
If you do it right... if you don't...
If you don't you end up where I was in my first play through. Something like 3800 instead of getting over 4000.
