I think my main problem with the game was how they handled the Reapers. They were supposed to be nearly impossible to kill super weapons, and instead they were painted as vulnerable and underpowered in ME3. Talking to Sovereign in the first game gave the impression that the Reapers were truly terrifying. In ME3, the lasers from the most powerful class of Reaper couldn't even kill Shepard from a direct hit. I thought somewhere around 10 Reapers could take an entire planet easily, yet they're seen in massive hordes attacking (not very efficiently, at that) planets. Then came the comment that it took them 100 years to completely conquer the Protheans. 100 years is far too long, and despite the fact that the Protheans were technologically inclined, the Reapers surpass would surpass them in nearly every aspect. I was expecting somewhere around a couple months for the galaxy to be eradicated, not 100 years. I know for the gameplay's sake that you need to make the Reapers able to die somehow, but when a couple orbital strikes from some ships kills one it destroys the whole atmosphere created. I thought the Reapers were supposed to be scary, but they seemed more like an inconvenience in this game rather than an actual threat. I want to go back to ME1. Everything was so good about the Reapers in that game. They made it seem like it was nearly impossible to take one out unless it's shields were gone. An entire fleet of hundreds of ships had no chance of taking it down if Shepard hadn't killed Saren and dropped the shields. The extent of the Reaper threat in ME3 seems to primarily come from the husks and friends, rather than from the Reapers themselves. The game tells you lots of people are dying, but nobody gives a shit about lots of random civilians dying unless the player has some kind of connection to them.
[sp]REAPERS ARE THE STUPIDEST VILLAINS IN ALL FICTION WHY DIDN'T THEY FUCKING TURN OFF THE MASS RELAY NETWORK ONCE THEY GOT CONTROL OF THE CITADEL, STUPID PIECE OF CRAP[/sp]
Bioware are the worst plot writers in history, must be why all their games focus around character development now.
you wouldnt dare
You don't want to know the things he is planning.

Fanrage keeps bringing down the BSN.

At one point, an email in ME3 mentions that the galactic economy would completely collapse after less than a year of fighting the reapers. In addition, most guns in the Alliance and Turian fleets (the Thanix cannons) were developed from captured Reaper technology - the same guns that destroyed the Collector cruiser in two hits in ME2. The reapers that were destroyed on Tuchanka, Rannoch and Earth were only destroyers - ground-fighting reapers a tenth the size of the superintelligent Sovereign-class vessels such as Harbinger. Keep in mind that in a normal extinction, Reapers do continuously get taken down, but are created in greater numbers from various species of non-intelligent life. The extinction cycles do take a very long time, but that's only because the reapers spend most of their time demolishing every hint of their invasion. Every single citizen of every intelligent race is indoctrinated, converted, and killed. Javik wasn't fighting a war in his time, he was fighting a hopeless resistance. Plus, without the use of the Crucible, the fleet you assemble is doomed no matter what.[/sp]
Fanrage keeps bringing down the BSN.
Theres still the occasional "I dont care what everyone else is saying, i still love you bioware!!!"
This is fucking amazing. I pray others think the same.
it's more or less the same thing that i wrote up last night in this thread, albeit with different details this confirmed my belief that there is a general consensus on the ending we want, which is approximately what this artist wrote
So I just finished Mass Effect 3 and all I can say is... BIIIIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOOOOOWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARE! [sp]THE Shepard. THE SHEPARD. IT WAS ALL A METAPHOR. SHEPARD WAS THE SHEPARD, IT WAS A STORY TO THE KID, WAS IT REAL WASN'T IT, OH JESUS WHAT THE FUCK I DON'T EVEN KNOW ANYMORE WAS THAT GOD WAS IT THE FIRST RACE WHO KNOWS OH JESUS WHAT THE FUCK AAAAAAH[/sp] But overall, yeah, good game, Bioware are cunts.
A story within a story...
I'm still not sure what stage of grief I'm in. It seems to fluctuate based on hunger, time of day, level of energy, score of the hockey game, etc. I haven't touched the game since March break began. And ME3 was my plan for March break.
I cant tell if i did right at the ending, overall good story.
[sp]If you got the Control ending though, the Reapers can probably ferry people to and from their home systems with their advanced FTL drives until they figure out how to rebuild the relays. I think, if there were better endings straight from release, Control would have been one of them.[/sp]
but couldn't that result in [sp]accidental shepard-indoctrination? suddenly all passengers are HAIL SHEPARD[/sp]
Also, can someone explain to me just how the fuck [sp]Shepard is supposed to survive the fucking citadel exploding, all of the reapers blowing up, all synthetic life everywhere being destroyed (including her, technically) and a freefall to earth in a smouldering wreckage of burning citadel pieces all collapsing and exploding, at terminal velocity, into a jagged and rugged earth.[/sp]
Because Bioware writing.
Also, can someone explain to me just how the fuck [sp]Shepard is supposed to survive the fucking citadel exploding, all of the reapers blowing up, all synthetic life everywhere being destroyed (including her, technically) and a freefall to earth in a smouldering wreckage of burning citadel pieces all collapsing and exploding, at terminal velocity, into a jagged and rugged earth.[/sp]
nope no explanation there

end of rine
Also, can someone explain to me just how the fuck [sp]Shepard is supposed to survive the fucking citadel exploding, all of the reapers blowing up, all synthetic life everywhere being destroyed (including her, technically) and a freefall to earth in a smouldering wreckage of burning citadel pieces all collapsing and exploding, at terminal velocity, into a jagged and rugged earth.[/sp]
[sp] thats when shepard wakes up after getting hit by harbingers beam of doom [/sp]
end of rine
Haven't seen any mods on BSN at all lately.
[sp]Thats why people are thinking about that reaper indoctrination theory. That, all the stuff after harbinger shoots shepard with the lazer is just a reaper influenced dream, and when you see shepard thats him waking up.[/sp]
[sp]Shepard was actually being indoctrinated by harbinger after being knocked out and by destroying the reapers instead of joining them he broke free and woke up in London ready to get the real ending[/sp]
So basically, purchase DLC plz, lol.
Haven't seen any mods on BSN at all lately.
I've seen Woo a few times. Priestly made some tweet about his soul being broken or something and I haven't seen him since.
[sp]Good example being Rana Thanaptis in ME3, she seemed pretty fine in ME1 and ME2, then she just suicide bombs Asari high personnel because of voices in her head. Shepard could've been indoctrinated since the very beginning, the only reason they're "activating" him now is because he's RIGHT at the point where he can seriously destroy them.[/sp]
That PISSED ME OFF SO MUCH when I read about that. [sp] YOU BITCH. YOU DIE WHEN I'M DRAGGING MY CHARACTER THROUGH ME2 AGAIN. [/sp] WAIT WRONG QUOTE HANG ON EDIT: THERE.
[sp]Shepard was actually being indoctrinated by harbinger after being knocked out and by destroying the reapers instead of joining them he broke free and woke up in London ready to get the real ending[/sp]
Source?
Guys, guys, I figured out why tali's face is a stock photo. So you know how [sp]her home world was in Geth occupation the entire time, and how she only JUST got it back?[/sp] So she decided to go buy a stock photo that looked like her, went into her magical mass-effect photoshop and made it look like her. It all makes sense now [sp]Tali's a lazy bastard though[/sp]

[editline]12th March 2012[/editline]
I like how the debate about how good the [sp]endings were is less about how good bioware's writing is and more about how the fuck they're going to tie all this shit up in dlc[/sp]
Because we all just know they'll fix it by DLC, or else the ending wouldn't do any god damn sense.
Probably late, in fact I bet its late but I still found this funny
[sp] You're supposed to get a romance scene just before a major plot point, depending on who you've been romancing. I'd been romancing Tali, so she came to my room for the romance scene. Which would have been fine if I hadn't just WATCHED HER KILL HERSELF 20 MINUTES PREVIOUSLY! I kept expecting her to fade away, to be a hallucination or something, but no, the game just gives you whatever romance scene you're destined to get whether the character is alive or not. Huge bug that ruined what I'm sure was supposed to be an important moment. [/sp]

Probably late, in fact I bet its late but I still found this funny
AHAHAHAHAHAHAAH, oh god, my sides.
[sp]Save the geth and tali's fleet, Loose the geth in the ending. :v[/sp]
