The kid's a civilian. I'd imagine that's hard to watch for any soldier.
Not for a survivor of the Skyllian blitz, anyway.
Shepard wouldn't be so fucking depressed over a single child's death over an entire game, seriously?
The kid's a civilian. I'd imagine that's hard to watch for any soldier.
Shepard potentially mowed down over 30 civilians on Feros.
Or watch his entire squad get butchered on Torfan, then proceed to execute the captured Batarian prisoners.
Or watch his squadmates slowly get devoured one by one by Thresher Maws.
Hope it is a free DLC but it could be fake or just maybe left over ideas or something. However I really want the Particle rifle in MP because that thing is bad ass.
My personal interpretation is that the kid represents all the people on Earth fighting and dying against the Reaper invasion. People she can't save.
But it takes one kids to die of an explosion to scramble Shepard up? Eugh.
Does Shepard react different if you didn't Romance Liara? Cause my femshep seems rather pissed the fuck off about what she saw on Thessia

truth be told, on feros, the civs were more of a threat than a kid in a vent

My Male Shep was pretty much "We have to move on Liara, even if you feel like fucking shit"
Then I just went to her quarters and told her to work some more and she was happy to serve. (In a totally non sexual way.)
What is the purpose of the song "Reaper Chase" being 2 minutes long when the scene it's in where you shoot at the Reaper with the turret on Rannoch lasts < 10 seconds?
Or does it play when you're lasing it too?
It's the OST. The music actually used in the final product can often be changed up to suit the needs of the devs.

Think about it this way:
Shepard first sees the kid playing in a garden with some toys, y'know, like any average kid would. A kid playing without a care in the world. Then, Shepard sees the kid a second time, now scared shitless. It was just a beautiful week end for that kid, and now it's been turned into a version of hell. And when the kid dies, Shepard is devastated because the kid shouldn't have died. That kid was supposed to be enjoying his time at home, but now he's been killed by the very enemy he tried to stop from ever attacking earth.

And anyway, most of the time they use the same song, but different parts for different moment, to keep the same theme for a planet.
Like on Mars, where the same music plays for the entire mission, but they play a more heated up moment when you are fighting.

Which reminds me, the Mars combat music is the best in the game, imo.

If Shepard survived the Skyllian blitz, then imagine that children, instead of being kidnapped is turned into a Batarian slave.
Seriously, the death of the child didn't affect me all. Sure, it sucks for the kid, but whatever, move on.

I don't know why the game focuses on the kid so much, maybe its some "deep meaning" shit like Indoctrination (doubtful). But the Art-Book directly says he's symbolism and a face of the people lost and that you couldn't save.

Oh wow, that is perfect.

The biggest problem with the kid is we weren't given enough time to build a connection to him. If Shepard had gotten a chance to talk with him before his trial or something; maybe a "Where's your parents?" or whatever the case might have been, it would have been more impactful to see the kid die.

The fact the game focused on him so much killed him even more to me, I was already annoyed at seeing him during the first dream. The two other dreams were just annoying, even more when Shepard just goes behind him and does the creepy smile.
Anyway, it's pretty funny in a way, during the ending sequence, Shepard becomes a greater threat to the galaxy than the Reapers ever were to begin with. How fucking shit is that for an ending?

The kid is just like a character in a horror movie that only exist purely for him to be killed in a gruesome way.
however, the good thing is that the horror movie doesn't bring up the child's death every 4 hours of gameplay.
Despite my opinion on what the kid represents, I have to agree that they bungled any attempt at emotional attachment with the player.

By the way, edinboro is an anagram of "biodrone".

Yeah but his username is edinboro_v as in /v/
And his "name" is James Edinboro
It's also a city, so I wouldn't look too far into that.
It's a bit too small to be called a city (unless you're talking about Edinburgh in Scotland, and didn't know how to spell it).
So I just beat the Mass Effect 3, assuring myself the whole time that the ending wouldn't suck ass. Then I got to it, and well...
Put simply the journey was better than the destination.
My personal interpretation is that the kid represents all the people on Earth fighting and dying against the Reaper invasion. People she can't save.
That's actually spot-on. Bioware stated in the Art of the Mass Effect Universe book that 'The Child' was a physical manifestation of all of the people Shepard couldn't save.
[editline]14th March 2012[/editline]
WarRocker32, this is a direct quote from the book: "One child would be the face of the people on Earth whom Shepard could not save. Below are variations on the child's clothing, which we wanted to feel appropriate for the far future but not so unusual that they would seem out of place on a child today."
Well, playing me1 again to have a set of save files stocked up to keep me occupied with me3 for a while. Mapping quick save to mouse 3 makes Noveria a whole lot easier.
This is just silly and seems like wishful thinking
Especially that whole "Free!" thing.

I will bet FIVE WHOLE POUNDS STERLING that this is bollocks
Pre-ordered back in February, they still haven't shipped my order.
People have been trying to spoil it all week so I'm gonna ask one question. I want a yes or no answer, not a "most likely" or "almost always."
[sp]Does Shepard die in every single ending?[/sp] I don't want any other details, just that one part. I don't want to know how or why. I'm going to ask another straightforward yes or no question: [sp]Is Shepard's death basically the entire ending or is it still exciting and cinematic besides that one point?[/sp] Again no specific details, just a yes or no.
