That quest is pretty much just for ME1 players. If you've done nothing, you get 1.
If you recovered the Matriarch's writings, got the Elkoss-Combine licence, found Gavin Hossle's data AND convinced Jenna to leave C-Sec, you get the rest.
Still only ends up +5 though. I'd have preferred it if the dissertation was +1, and each additional piece of data was +5. +25 would be a nice little bonus for long-term players.

That actually kinda pisses me off. My Shepard fucked Liara 3 times during all 3 games, and yet, there's not a single sign of a baby. I wanted; "Shepard: I don't know. Marriage, old age, and a lot of little blue children?" to come true.

Well asari don't get pregnant by accident and I doubt Liara would choose to have one with all the trouble with the Shadow Borker and the Reapers. But I do agree with you.
That's one of the things that pisses me off about people who like the ending. A lot of them say "At least it wasn't a cliche'd happy ending." Because a convoluted mess where everyone dies is much better than a happy ending.
Also, why the fuck not a happy ending? I think I've earned one, my life is depressing enough I don't want all my work saving the galaxy to be in vein. If I want to be pretend depressed I'l watch Inspector Morse.

Then they give us a bittersweet ending so their ending can be special, yet it's a complete copy of another game, and bittersweet endings are as cliché'd as Happily ever After or Depressing endings.
The problem is that it's not even bittersweet because everything you've done amount to nothing. It qualifies more as a [url=http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DownerEnding]downer ending[/url], which is terrible after a long franchise such as Mass Effect.
