Magic markers.
It's a lot easier to show emotion on something that has eyebrows. Notice that even Garrus has eyebrow-plates.
Basically, to the human brain, something that doesn't have eyebrows is seriously weird looking and your brain doesn't like it because it can't pick up on facial cues. So when they want an asari to look intimidating or alien, they don't give it eyebrows. When they want an asari to be an ally or otherwise expressive (e.g. Liara and Aria,) they give them eyebrow tattoos.
Notice that the animators use the plated heads on Wrex, Grunt and Javik to a similar effect, often positioning the camera at such an angle that the plates partially cover the eyes to make them look angry.

I bet the multiplayer and singleplayer dev teams are mostly different.
All the new characters look cool. No idea what I would want to play as the new abilities all look sick. I wonder if those new weapons will be a available in SP as well? The Harpoon gun reminds me of the Javelin in Dead Space 2.
The Batarians looks pretty kickass as well.
I really want the Justicar, but GOD knows how long that will take, getting the adept took me like a month.

No, I played the Multiplayer much more than I did singleplayer, even if they add new side missions or new ending or whatever, in the end the replayability is still not as much as the multiplayer.

Probably less offensive biotic abilities, more supportive ones (hence the shield-thing like you used on the Collector Ship and that one Asari was using on Thessia.)
