This is the way I see it:
There is an artist who is known to create amazing pieces. So a collector says "Hey, I'll buy the next thing you make because I know you always produce quality!"
So that artist makes a piece of shit unintentionally. The collector would be obviously pissed and want a new piece, but the artist doesn't want to.
The Collector has every right to complain and demand a new piece. The artist isn't compelled to make a new piece, but in a certain sense he should feel morally compelled to do it.
It's not a perfect analogy, but I think it sort of fits. Bioware doesn't [i]have[/i] to give us anything. It's their work, they are allowed to do with it what they want. However, we bought Mass Effect 3 expecting it to be as good as 1 and 2, and it obviously didn't live up to those expectations. It would show that they legitimately care about their fans to throw us a bone.
I think their extended cut dlc is their way of presenting an olive branch to the fans. They don't want the completely fold and create new endings just because a few fans were mad, but they realize that they fucked up(or that their fans think they fucked up), and are willing to compromise to clarify and improve the ending.

Krogan Vanguard doesn't seem that hard to use. Spec into abilities that give you more health and shields, and then just break out a Claymore or a Geth Plasma Shotgun and Biotic Charge everything to death. You can spec some stuff into Melee Damage too, if you want to take advantage of the Krogan's headbutting skills.
Fucking hell, playing as a vanguard sucks (I'm guessing it'd be easier if I had more powerful weapons, specifically shotguns). Just two or so more levels and I can be done with this character.

Shotguns are a must-have for Vanguards.

Well that's the issue. Drell Vanguards are really bad. Vanguards are usually tank-ish classes, able to leap into the middle of the action and tear shit up. Drells are already fast on their own so they don't have much use for Biotic Charge, and they can't really take much damage at all, so they're really a weird race to have as a vanguard.

Pfft, I don't sodding Nova; risk losing my Barrier when faced with a nasty enemy?! Nary, I'd sooner Charge that fucker then blast 'em/roll back, occassionally using the Wubwaves to unsettle my enemies with Biotic Wubstep. (it worked for I.Will Destroyu)
For me, Nova is essentially signing my death warrant, a risk i'm not willing to take.
Batarian Sentinel doesn't have much going for it at the moment but The Asari Justicar kicks ass

See how first Engineer says "new character" and second engineer is "character training".
Character training is, in my opinion, one of the most disappointing things you can get in higher packs, like the spectre pack.
When speccing the Salarian engineer against Geth, should I go for damage or radius in the fourth energy drain upgrade?
