Well, I FINALLY finished the game. I can totally see both sides to the argument regarding the endings. On the one hand, it's a truly awful and utterly incompatible way to complete this series (ie; what we've played, the universe created and how they chose to end it are simply not in line with one another). However, for a lot of people, the ending/s they DID create are totally sufficient to wrap up the story they were trying to tell in a suitable enough fashion to at least FEEL complete, despite being not.
I am of the opinion that it was just plain awful. I didn't hate it, but it's totally soured the entire experience for me, to the point that I seriously can't be fucked ever playing any of the Mass Effect games again - it's literally that big of a deal breaker for me. I wonder what Bioware will do with the DLC... probably fuck all.
Over the course of this thread, a lot of really interesting articles have come along regarding the indoctrination theory and people's opinions on what the endings meant or other little things they discovered along the way - I totally avoided these until I finished the game, but suffice to say, 750 pages is a LOT. Does anyone know of a good place to go to read up on all the major theories and whatnot floating about out there? Really want to get the full picture now.
Also, exactly how many ending variants are there? I finished the game and did the 'Red' ending (totally spoiler free that one!) but I didn't get to see my Shepard 'gasp' at the end... Then I saw the same ending on Youtube and in THAT one he did. So is it just the two variants of each colour ending (gasp and no gasp), or is there more to it?
I'm very drained emotionally from this game's finale :(

6 specific endings and 16 possible [sp]scenarios for the choice itself. Having a certain readiness level will only let you choose destroy if you destroyed the collector base, or control if you didn't. And so on.[/sp]

I chose the [sp]destroy ending, as that was the plan from day one. Destroy the reapers. If you forget the star child catalyst and everything, from the point you choose destroy it actually was a suitable ending. It's as if you finally finished the crucible and set it off, destroying all reapers, which was the original plan.[/sp]
I like the idea of at least 3 different endings, [sp]each with or without the crucible(assuming they decided not to use the crucible subplot). Worst ending: The fleets go against the reapers and fail, causing the cycle to start again. Or with the crucible plot, it is destroyed in transport and they are destined to fail.
Medium ending: The fleets fight off most of the reapers, but suffer huge losses, effectively wiping out most if not all synthetics and organics. Or during transport the crucible is damaged but not destroyed. When used it isn't able to selectively target the reapers, causing again extinction of both sides.
Best ending: The fleets are able to overpower the reapers, and civilization begins to rebuild after the attack. Or the crucible is used without being damaged, they are able to target just the reapers and win the war.[/sp]

Its disturbing.
I thought the Black Widow was good on Gold...
On silver it's just a pain train.
Just unlocked Batarian Soldier AND Krogan Battlemaster from the same Premium Pack.
Is it just me, or does Krogan teleport so... Slow?
I thought the Black Widow was good on Gold...

Why would it be any less powerful on a lower difficulty?

Krogan do everything slowly. They run slowly, they talk slowly, they get into and out of cover slowly.
Essentially they're the galaxy's armored fighting turtle-refrigerators.
Oh, and I finally got my Saber M-99.
It's maybe a little less powerful than the Crusader shot for shot, but it's got more of them, and the recoil isn't nearly as bad. Can take out geth rocket troopers on silver in 2 shots if used properly.
Also, I really wish there was a way to selectively use the scope on things like pistols, ARs, and SMGs. Especially from cover where it defaults to using them.
I would really like the accuracy bonus without my fov being restricted so badly. Not to mention moving the scope around is like trying to aim a tank barrel, for me at least.

'Pain train' means it is a figurative train, that deals massive amounts of pain. This is a good thing.

I laughed so hard at this.

I know what you meant.
What I said is that if it is already good on Gold; the highest difficulty, how could it be anything other than great on lower difficulties considering how enemy health is lower.

EDIT: And some squadmates apparently.

Wow, seems like he just rushed right through ME2 then, doesn't it?
Wow, seems like he just rushed right through ME2 then, doesn't it?
People say "worst playthroughs" are when everyone dies, but I say when everyone dies except for Jacob, that's worse.
Jacks not allowed to swear around students.
But is allowed to have her nipples blatantly on show.
What?
oh no an insanely attractive woman who Shepard should be banging has her nipples on show
In all seriousness though that seems odd that they modelled Jack's nipples very clearly. I'm not complaining... but why?

[sp]Legion's[/sp] death emotionally broke me for a long time. He dies to give sentience to an entire race.
Imo, [sp]Legion[/sp] was one of the best written characters in the series and he barely got the time he deserved.
Destroy is such bullshit because you betray [sp]Legion[/sp] in a decision that's just awful, you make his sacrifice worth nothing.

Well, if you have enough of a EMS rating the Destroy option will ONLY destroy the Reapers.
Here is a full ending guide if you want it:

What? Fucking Catalyst is just making shit up.
I had max assets (around 6000) or so.
So I guess they lived?
Oh, fuck, Destroy is obviously the best ending.
wait you idiot those are hypothetical

Whats the EMS rating? Is that something from later in the game? I just finished Priority Tuchanka and don't recall any EMS rating. Unless thats the Galactic Readiness rating.
Also, if you want to know how much EMS you have to have go here:

EMS stands for:
Effective Military Strength

I think on twitter they confirmed the catalyst kid was lying about the geth being destroying. Tying it to EMS makes sense I guess

Link please? This is making me reconsider Control as the perfect ending, as the Geth was the only thing keeping me from Destruction.
Synthesis for the win.
I'm playing MP, I like the Turian Sentinel, but I can't deal with how sluggish he feels. I like the human's rolling abilities. What classes do you guys play?
The Catalyst is a lying asshole.
Essentially...
In-game, Catalyst: Destroy will destroy Reapers, Geth, EDI & you.
Out-of-game, developers: Yeah, he's lying.
Perfect sense guys! (Although granted, if the 'Shepard lives' ending allows EDI & Geth to also live, I'll grant you that makes marginally more sense.)
