The only combat you'll get is against animals. You're not allowed to pvp in GV, so there aren't any 'enemies'
If you grief the server, you'll get banned.
Also, you can't found a village on GV. Can't buy deeds.
At any rate, Golden Valley is only meant for you to start off and get your skills up then move to Wild or Freedom. Why stay there when the best you can do is 20 in your skills? Besides the fact that things decay super fast there.
Go Wild, go HOTS. Jenn-Kellon certainly doesn't need any more people.

The game has a bit of a learning curve, but don't be discouraged guys, it's totally awesome. The terraforming and mining will blow your mind.
I'll see if I can't get my GV alt's ass over there. I've been playing for a few months. I'm no pro but I know what I'm doing.

As you play the game, it becomes second nature. It's not difficult at all really, double click the tool to activate it, then use right click menu to interact. BTW, you can autorun with X, just so you know.
Once you move to premium, get someone to make you a toolbelt. Then you just click the item in the toolbelt to activate it.

How do I cut trees?
Press F3 and double click the hatchet or small axe or whatever that's in your inventory. Then right click a tile that has a tree on it.
