Father Grigori is shown as an insane Russia priest barricaded in the town of Ravenholm which the Combine attacked with headcrab canisters (why they didn't just send their troops in, I don't know; they might've been testing their weaponry), so with all this happening, he might just be so insane he's ignoring hunger and thirst to survive.
Either that or he uses fire to trap zombies to actually save him the trouble of cooking.
