Install steam and don't tell them. Clear recycle bin of .exe and hide it. There is no WAY they are going to find it.
Install steam in a folder inside a folder which is in your porn folder, then they will ignore steam and just punish4porn.
just found a torrent for Non-steam... hope this works.
There's no point torrenting it. I highly doubt you can play online. And it's completely online.
You should keep trying or just hide. Though your parents are the oposite of mine, they though it was amazing we could buy a game online and download it 2 seconds later. Though none of my familly have a international credit card so, no buying on Steam for me.
Get it on 360/PS3.
Only do this if you want to play HL², Episode 1/2 and Portal. TF 2 on 360 have no updates that make the game 3x more awesome.
i think he was caught :v:
While you could install and hide it, you shouldn't. Do whatever you can to 1. get your own computer 2. make it clear to your parents that they're idiots in every way.
Give us their phone number/email. I want to talk to them.
Get your own computer. I had my own computer when I was 12. It was kind of shitty, though. Uninstall Steam, download a virus and make it clear that you have one, then watch your parents reaction. If they say it has anything to do with steam, they are idiots.
tried that. [editline]04:35PM[/editline] but what if I get caught? hmm...
If you get caught it will most likely be at least a month down the road, and you can tell them it's been on the computer for that long and hasn't hurt it.
Turn of the autostart of steam and it's unlikely that they will find out.
My dad trusted Steam right away. The first game I bought was probably Half Life, all he asked was if it was trustable and I told him how it was the company's official program and he's like ok. Try somehow proving that Valve is a trusted company and this is an official program. There's a bunch of trademarks on the bottom and stuff.
Wait, didnt oyu say you have the orange box? What are you going to do with £50 laying around? :D
If they say it slows down the computer, show it's memory and CPU usage in the task manager compared to something like Internet explorer. Or here's an idea. Instead of hurling rocks at their impenetrable wall of belief, dig a tunnel under it and make it collapse on it's own. What that means is, instead of trying to fork out proof that steam is fine, just ask them WHY they think it's bad. If they say it gives viruses or whatever, ask them why they think so, where they got that idea from. Anything they say you can just respond with "That's not true, you're a lying son of a bitch and you know it." because you KNOW you're right.

Trustworthy company... If you live in America you can try the capitalistic way. Tell them Valve makes over 70 million USD annually and the only way to play their programs is by steam. Or you could try the socialistic way, they have over 190 employees.
1. Install steam in a harmless looking location that they would never check (e.g. My Documents/<Your name>/Homework/Scrapped work/Programming Project/Steam) Yes I made that up 2. Delete installation package and empty recycle bin 3. Remove auto startup 4. Install Steam Games 5. Remove some of your other files to make it look like you haven't saved anything new. 6. Good luck
Email Valve (I've heard Gabe answers all kinds of stuff) and forward the response to your parents.
Don't forget to rename the exe and change the icon so it doesn't show up in search.

If your family wont let you play it, you are too young to be playing it in the first place.
That's aside the issue. He said his family are fine with the games, just not with Steam.
