Because console can't anti-alias :downs:
All the modern ones can to some extent, we just don't see it often on multiplatform games as the are always half areas ports.
Normal FSAA/CSAA is rarely seen in consoles and I doubt UC3 will have it either. They'll probably use MLAA (lower quality AA, but a lot lighter on the hardware).
Fuck I thought 11th January.
I have no lack of faith in naughty dog to pull this off perfectly.

I would expect so. Console GPUs are equivalent to GPUs from about 3 generations ago. They aren't exactly powerful enough to pull off the FSAA/CSAA well. A lot of the rendering is done on their CPUs as well from what I understand. Which don't do AA well normally anyway.
But you do tend to see extremely small amounts of AA on exclusive titles as they re built from the ground up for that platform. If only it wasn't so resource intensive for this generation.
damn american calendars
11-1-11 is january

Naughty Dog really do know how to impress. I don't think Uncharted has as much hype as it deserves... probably because it's a PS3 exclusive.

A PS3 is about 300 dollars bro.

No console has ever used super sample anti aliasing. Barely any modern, high end graphics cards can render it without the framerate being below 30 for pretty much any game.
CSAA is a method only NVIDIA GPUs support so why would any console game use it when they all use GPUs from different manufacturers? Also, as of right now, MLAA is only available on the PS3, so if any games were to use it they would have to be PS3 exclusives or cut it completely for the 360 (but that's okay because Uncharted is a PS3 exclusive.)

Also, by FSAA, are you referring to super sampling?
"Naughty Dog based Drake's appearance and personality on daredevil Johnny Knoxville, actor Harrison Ford, and the heroes of pulp magazines, novels, and films."

Yeah I meant that PS3 games (like UC3) can use MLAA. As for CSAA, the PS3's GPU is Nvidia, so technically it should be able to do CSAA, but I don't know for sure (probably can use it, but would be too much of a performance hit).
I said "rarely seen" because I wanted to dodge the possible "Nope 1 game, game X, uses non-MLAA AA" reply (I wasn't 100% sure that no console game had ever used it).
Yeah by FSAA I meant Full Screen Anti Aliasing, so yes Supersampling.
Interesting behind-the-scenes of the trailer:

Ain't nothing that works on consoles that doesn't work better on PC.
Controls? Plug in a PS3/360 controller.
Port that is the same as consoles? Well you can still force AA, so it will still be better, even if just by a minimal amount.

Pretty sure you can get a PS3 for about 300 bucks now.

I'd say if you have to switch to a gamepad to play something on PC then the game doesn't work with Keyboard + Mouse.
If you're saying that UC2 could look a lot better on PC, okay. But UC is one of those series that, I'm quite sure, would not run good on a normal PC at a playable framerate at all times.
too bad i cant buy it on day 1(if i get a PS3 this year)
i hate my country :argh:

Yeah they optimized that shit so it runs well on a PS3. Optimizing that shit for PC would be a bitch

If it runs on PS3 it will run on PCs easily. The PS3 has really, really dated hardware, except for the Cell but that isn't a miracle machine.
Yeah they optimized that shit so it runs well on a PS3. Optimizing that shit for PC would be a bitch
But they also had to optimize a lot more for the PS3 since they're trying to make it work on pretty dated hardware.

Here's a hint: people shouldn't try and play current-gen games on a "normal PC".
Regardless, a roughly £700 PC for with parts chosen for gaming will be far more powerful than a PS3.

I don't know man, with the help Sony give developers on using the Cell, optimizing it would have been easier. The age of the hardware doesn't seem to matter to them. If they were to port it to the PC from the PS3 they would likely have to rewrite it to work on directX, and if they did it the other way around they would have to rewrite it to work on OpenGL, either way we would all get shit versions from the effort required.
Heeeeeeell yeeeeeeaaaaaahhhhh.
Gentlemen, I think we have a winner here, right up there with Arkham City and LBP2
