My God I had no idea. Edit: In all seriousness though this is a really great game but nobody will give it a chance. Once you've learned all the mechanics of it, it's more addicting and fun than any other game I've played.
your all a bunch of faggots except you God of Ashes i <3 joo Edit: oh and dipshit : The first usage of the term refers to the armour originally developed by the Wilkinson Sword company during World War II to help protect Royal Air Force (RAF) air personnel from the flying debris and shrapnel thrown by German anti-aircraft guns' flak (Fliegerabwehrkanone), a type of exploding shell. The jacket consisted of manganese plates sewn into a waistcoat made of ballistic nylon (a material engineered by the DuPont company); therefore, flak jackets functioned as an evolved form of plate armour. Unfortunately, flak jackets proved to be too bulky for wear within the confines of the RAF's standard bomber aircraft, the Avro Lancaster. The Royal Air Force subsequently offered the jackets to the United States Army Air Forces, which adopted them as a Defense Standard. Ultimately, however, the jackets proved to be less effective than hoped, and are now generally considered to be inferior to body armor. flak jackets and steel helmets were worn by US Navy personnel on aircraft carriers during battle, since the ships and especially their flight decks offered little protection for their crew. Known as "flash gear", this was supposed to protect against shrapnel and heat. (User was permabanned for this post (Reason: Gimmick) [event] 34809 [/event])
I always thought this looked pretty cool, but I don't do well with monthly payments for games, they just don't seem right. Nice thread though.
Flak jackets, believe it or not, do count as armor to some rate. Although it's mostly only useful against grenades (which they barely protected against anyway, they actually weakened bullets better than shrapnel), it can still keep you alive. :eng101: Also, yes, comparing them does work, since Episode 1's graphics engine is greatly superior to this game's.
Ok this one was just too stupid to pass up.... Bomber crews in World War Two, as well as ship crews wore flakjackets. Pvt Snuffy the GI in the field never EVER wore flak jackets. In VIETNAM they wore them but not in WORLD WAR II. Episode 1 and World War II online are entirely different games, Episode one's main focus is an OFFLINE first person shooter over a SMALLER area. World War II ONLINE (<-- keyword here) covers a larger area with systems in place to bring said 1000 people online together in areas that have been ordered taken or held. Comparing the two is like comparing a hockey puck and a golfball.
Who cares? The game has FPS issues. End of.
I strongly disagree. I could run this without problems with a computer that could hardly handle HL2:EP1. It was quite fun, but I don't feel like buying it.

I might have to try the trial (or pony up some cash) just for the dogfighting.
It's like a fucking tease, the 15 day trial never works for me. Some one give me their credit card number, My family doesn't use them and I wanna try the 14 day trial.
Okay :downs:
I used a fake credit card numer and got the trail. I played without joystick, which works well with everything but planes and anti air guns. I've seen some good action, but overall was rather boring. Alot of camping, which did help, but it's kind of crazy camping on such a large map and still making kills.

Try loggin in every now and then and you'll get attached really quickly. Or join a squad.
First couple days were kinda boring. After that i got invited to some squad. They did allot of sapping missions on forward bases. But that get's boring very fast as well because the next day you come back to see the enemy took back exacly what you worked for the day before. We had these big battles for those big cities. Those sucked because we didn't win or lose anything by fighting them. One thing i absolutely loved about this game was the adjustable iron sight and tank sight.

I have been playing WWIIOL since it's (admittedly rough) begining. I played most of the others out there like CS and RO etc etc, but WWIIOL is the only one I have played for more than a few months. Playing solo can be dull or frustrating, especially if you don't know what is going on and you will almost certainly die from that guy you never saw... Playing in a squad is what makes WWIIOL the best game out there. You WILL need some training to survive and squads provide it. You can always find a squad that does what YOU like to do. WWIIOL is THE toughest PVP game on the planet.
Hey God of Ashes I just signed up. I'll see you in the game!
Hey God of Ashes I just signed up. I'll see you in the game!
Awesome! And tzulscha is right. This is the toughest but it's the most fun game on the planet.
Looks interesting, I think I've seen this before in Computer Gaming World(Now Games For Windows :/) I might try it, but do you have to put in a credit card for the trial?
It was a lot better when more people played it.
Hmm, i played it once and now it's back in it's box, never to see sunlight.
Good concept. Bad game.
Good concept. Bad game.
Your entitled to your opinions. I for one think this is one of the best games ever made. It has it's moments of awesomeness as well. Like a 38 bomber raid on an AO town. Or a German RDP raid on British factories. Those are just in the air. There's also the epic moments on the ground war. And at the moment CRS is working on the 1.29 patch which is going to release the game to the Chinese and for the current game it updates the UI. It's also supposed to have a new noob training thing in it but I don't know the details. The biggest change that's going in to 1.29 is that the new game engine Unity II is supposed to be released in the patch. So this is going to be a HUGE patch to the game. And hopefully bring more new players to the game.
For the 'best made' game ever it does have a rather low production value doesn't it? Some of the game mechanics are interesting I guess. But I see this game nothing more than a mear experiment for better games to follow from.

People buy repetitive FPS and RPGs that are the same thing over and over again. Not a game like this. This is something completely different.
It's got great ideas but it's a little boring for most FPS player's tastes. I remember playing it with one of my friends and driving around in a tank for half an hour and never finding anyone. I'll stick with my completely not skill based, definitely not reaction and coordination based, Counter Strike.

Depending on the tank you have to use the tactics involved with the tank. If your say in an M10 trying to kill a tiger tank completely exposed is a great way to waste the tank. Instead you stay in the bushes near a road waiting for the tank column to come rolling down. Working together with a squad to achieve one objective is the greatest part in this game. You're not going to have fun going out alone and getting killed over and over. To survive you gotta work together. This is an example of when the game is shining in it's greatest moment. 38 allied bomber formation working together to level bomb a city so the infantry can move in and get a foothold in the town.
I'd wish there was a free trial that didn't require a credit card :crying:
I'd wish there was a free trial that didn't require a credit card :crying:
There used to be a free month trial but not anymore. Would be a lot easier to get more players if you could give them a free trial without a credit card.
Yeah.
How would my system do on this: 3GB of RAM Quad Core Q6600 8800GT Since you've all been talking about it being demanding. It looks hella awesome though.
How would my system do on this: 3GB of RAM Quad Core Q6600 8800GT Since you've all been talking about it being demanding. It looks hella awesome though.
It would run fine. I have a core2duo e6600, 8800GTS, and 2 GB of RAM and it runs fine on my computer. With the new engine Unity II that's going to be released in the next patch, the graphics and the performance is going to substantially increase. Unity II also opens the door for the other game engine called Terrain II which upgrades the terrain (duh) in the game. When Terrain II comes out the environment will effect the gameplay even more, you'll be able to dig foxholes among other things!
Hmm. I love extreme tactics like this game presents. Like really getting into it with the tactics. How much is it a month?
It's only $15 a month it's really not even that much. But trust me, it's worth it if you're into this.
