My first kill was when a hawk decided he wanted to pull directly up in the middle of a dogfight, strafed his cockpit and got the kill.
Tier 2 is in. In my first sortie in the 09F-4 I bagged 4 ea. 1 Hurricane MkI, 1 Hurricane MkIIb, 1 Bell and 1 Spitfire MkVb.
First cane spiraled up and I pulled blind lead on him and heard an explosion. Next time I saw him he was a flaming carcass because I'd just detonated him.
Second can was dweebing out on a friendly so I came up behind him and took off his left wing.
Bell was shooting at a friendly on deck so I pulled blind under the nose lead and the next time I saw him i'd destroyed his engine, he ditched/despawned and got a RES but I still got my kill because I critted him.
The spitfire was also dweebing out on a friendly and even after putting atleast 15 cannons into his straight 6 all I managed to do was kill his pilot and get him lightly smoking. Fuck is with Spitfire's and them taking so many godamn hits?
Fuck this, buying the game

Awesome. The first thing you should do is get on the teamspeak server and play with other people via teamspeak and ask them for help. The game has a extremely steep learning curve.
Also, here's a video made by the leader of the squad I'm in. I'm Seth1231 in the video.

Dear LORD does this game have a learning curve. Actually, it's less of a curve than a loop. At least for planes anyway, which are my area of 'exertise'. I usually flew Axis, so I guess my poor choice in planes accounted for my failure. I liked the BF110 because of its cannon, but in retrospect it wasn't a very good tradeoff for being such a big target.
it's a shame that the people who play this game have something against spawning close to combat

I love the 110, such a beast.
Thanks seth
This is a GREAT game to play with a group of friends, and I love it. I even love absolutely failing at fighter planes.
Best part easily is huge paradrops though. Anyway, if this was free, i'd pay like sixty dollars for it easy.
Whats so steep about the curve? Planes I can understand, care to explain?
It took me a few days as infantryman before I learned to hit anything but after that it was more or less a breeze.
Whats so steep about the curve? Planes I can understand, care to explain?
Flying a plane is one thing, performing ACM's (Aerial combat maunevres) whilst trying to judge the energy state of your enemy and if you can use that against him and then trying to shoot him down is completely different.
And don't get me started on the use of wingmen.
Another video from my squad. It shows the use of teamwork and stuff. I'm Seth1231 ingame if any of you haven't picked that up yet :P
Also, here's a picture of a 109E-4's cockpit ingame. All the 109 cockpits are relatively the same so it's usefull across all of the varients.

If I can fly on IL-2 with 100% realistic setting I can fly on this?
You should be able to.
If I can fly on IL-2 with 100% realistic setting I can fly on this?
Probably. But bear in mind that IL-2 and World War II Online have very different flight physics. The planes will not fly the same as they do in IL-2
Apparantly 1.30 is very close to going gold.
Oh lawd I can't wait for my 110F/B.

is it? Damn wish I could see it
Whats the big deal with 1.30? Does it make the graphics NOT SUCK?
Imo, should just be retail 50 bucks like ARMA or something, it's not that I couldn't pay 15 but sometimes you just don't wanna play so it's like a dead waste of money

ARMA isn't an MMO though. You can't really compare the two in terms of payment and gameplay.
Whats the big deal with 1.30? Does it make the graphics NOT SUCK?
Yeah the graphics are a bit shit really. But if they were any better you'd probably need a computer on comparison with the NASA mainframe to run the entire gameworld properly.
1.30 fixes a bunch of shit and adds two new planes for the axis.
NASA couldn't even run Crysis for 10 seconds before crashing.

exactly.
Atleast they've updated the visuals. You should see what the original release in 2001 looked like.
For planes, is there a way to set the throttle on cruise? I am using a ps2-like pad. I have to continually hold one of the joysticks forward to maintain speed. In the keymap settings there is only a mapping for "throttle up."
Setting RPM to "max" does not maintain the throttle.
Do you still need a credit card to use the free trial?
Do you still need a credit card to use the free trial?
Yes
Might be a bit of a bump, but I got the 30 day free trial thing from a friend, and really am having a blast. I played the 7 about 2 years ago, but never subscribed. This time I might have to.
I wish this was free, no job = no monthly games fo me :(
