This
I played Spore for about a month, got space stage in a couple hours. Declared war on everyone, captured everyons planets and repopulated them, spread across galaxy, defeated grox and killed off any species that made first contact with me.
Good times but game got boring real fast.
I got to the Grox, yeah. They are some douche bags, but I try to ally them. Freaking colonies calling for help, can't give a shit, to far away to help them out. Grox wan't me to exterminate some peeps on a planet. I think "Ok, I got this!" and off I go with a Grox ship following me, make sure i don't cause trouble. got to the planet, took awhile because gravity is so strong. I start shooting at the things they wan't me to kill. Then.... the Grox ship gets in the way of my already shooting laser beam. And I go to war. I FREAK THE HELL OUT! and fly to some random grox planet, and teraform the shit out of it. I kill them all. I fly away and get in the closest wormhole, after some continued flying I notice.... I'm no where near my home world, to be exact I'm on the other side of the galaxy. I know no species out here, all alone I was LOST. IN. SPAAAAACCCEEEE!
Then a week before galactic adventures come out my game brakes can I can't play it, ever.

I doubt the [sp]Grox[/sp] part. Also, spoiler them. They are a late game enemy.
Is it sad that I found the first stage of the game the most enjoyable?
The creature creator was the best part of Spore, and lured suckers like me into wasting their cash.

They really aren't anything special...seriously. They are a pissed of race hell bent on killing everyone. This much EVERYONE already knows. Hiding their name doesn't add any mystery to it since the name means nothing.
I had fun till i got to space stage. Then i stop playing it. Also, i don't have the game anymore because i gave it to my cousin.
If the game had turned out the way it was supposed to then the OP probably would've ran out of room to type about the game.

Yep.
I saw it through this:

If only...
Only good thing that ever came out of this game was me sending a misshapen species of organism named "Landsharks" into space. They looked fucked beyond belief, and they flew around in giant dildo cars.
Space Stage experience: 10/10

Not worth a tag and what do you think I spent the month doing?
I basically branched outwards and used cheats to give myself infinite amounts of money and modified my game files to extend how far I could fly.
The whole religion part of the game was ridiculously dumb and I hated it, made my species into the Borg from Star Trek because it seemed appropriate. I branched from my area to the Sol system and took out all the alien races that I could. Infinite planet busters and that one tool that gives you 42 uses and terraforms a planet made the game extremely easy and fun for me.

Watching that video made me feel depressed. I waited 3 years for Spore. It was supposed to be the best game ever, with infinite replay value and endless possibilities. The Spore I got lasted me 2 months before I became mostly bored with it.
Spore was turned into a child's toy, and we will never have our promised evolution simulator. :smithicide:

HOW? I want to make planet busters n stuff infinite.
It was a fun game, but there isn't much to do and the prices for the game and expansions are totally rip-off.
I'm going to give Spore another try. Downloading it now.
EDIT: Downloading off the EA Downloader, before any claims/misunderstandings of piracy
Darkspore looks very promising though, it seems they're going for a more serious approach this time.

Hope I can get into the beta.

So do I, signing up now.
I was definitely expecting more out of Spore than I got, but it was fun for awhile nonetheless. I enjoyed attempting to come up with believable evolutionary histories for my creatures, and then eventually expanding my empire through space. Though I found that culture was essentially non-existent beyond the archetypes of "We like blowing stuff up" or "We like hugging things".
Most of the replay value of Spore came from simply making new creatures and messing around with them until you got bored of the horrid gameplay of the tribal and civ stages.
The cartoon style sort of threw me off aswell, but alas.
This Darkspore looks somewhat interesting though. Diablo meets Spore, huh?
EDIT: I forgot to mention, I had an interest in replaying Spore recently, but unfortunately my ex-wife ran off with my copy and now it resides on the other side of the country.
I don't want Darkspore, how about Spore: the game we were told we were getting in 2005

yea agreed, where's my underwater gameplay? the game looked sooo awesome in 05, i think it was some dude from EA that was like, " mmargg i want a game for my son, mmuurrghhh and he is 10 years old, make it or you are all fired narrhgg"
Galactic adventures is fucking EPIC
Spore was meh, too childish, thought it would be like it was in the beta tests, It wasn't
i agree with you.
i found it semi-fun. i fired it up more than once which means something for me...
i instantly quit at the space stage.
yeah, spores a bit childish looking, but i suddenly got the urge to start up spore.
I have SPORE, but when I made a steam shortcut I could not log in anymore.
And i had some awesome creatures.
i spent most of my time making tanks, and other high powered vehicles, and then dropping them off at planets to conquer. military dominance was secured in 2 weeks
Someone should make a indie spore the way it was supposed to be.
To everyone wishing for the Spore we saw in the original GDC video:
Will Wright had once stated that they did have Spore made like that, back during the whole "cute vs. serious" war the dev team was having. Turned out that the more serious Spore wasn't fun to play at all. So maybe the cutesy version we have now is a blessing in disguise.
Still, I don't think I'll be playing it again anytime soon. I wish I never bought the special edition. What a waste of money it was.
Spore deserves more credit than most people give it, especially with Galactic Adventures. The expansion dramatically improved the gameplay. Making quests and sharing them with friends is a surprising amount of fun.
