Some of the things that Asia does I don't agree with. But don't you EVER say Splinter Cell is better than Metal Gear. EVER :argh:
Splinter Cell, at least the earlier games, is better if you're looking for a realistic sort of stealth. Metal Gear Solid definitely isn't all that realistic but it has a very different type of procedual stealth and allows you to absolutely fuck shit up if necessary. Different strokes for different folks (I prefer MGS myself, mind you).
Out of all the Japanese games you could've bashed, you had to bash the one that's actually really, really good?
Japanese horror beats the living shit out of any other genre. American horror is how much blood you can fit on screen, where Japanese horror is about fucking with your mind and scaring the living shit out of you.

Oh god, so many candidates. Siren, Silent Hill, Fatal Frame. :ohdear:
... Wait. Does that mean the Resident Evil series was Americanized from the beginning, or later with RE4?

I have never played MGS but I loved Splinter Cell and would probably prefer Splinter Cell's realistic stealth over MGS type of stealth. Opinion. From what I've seen MGS and Splinter Cell are completely differerent so I wouldn't compare them.
I think OP is just a bad troll
Agreed.

I agree, but to be fair, Amnesia: The Dark Descent was terrifying.

It was always an Americanized game with flavors of Japanese-style character uselessness ,corniness and general over-the-top-ness.

Amnesia, Penumbra, Ravenholm, I have no mouth and I must scream.
THE FUCKING CTHULU MYTHOS.
you gon have to dear with it sirry white man
oh ho ho ho ho ho ho
I wish I could rate Edthefirst intelligent, that was a really well thought out post and I agree entirely. There are a lot of terrible idiotic games coming from the east, but there are a lot that come from the west, too.
Metal Gear Solid is pretty far from your average Japanese video game.
Raiden is really the only "she-dude".
Hideo Kojima took tons of inspiration from American film.
List of other films that inspired him:
The Guns of Navarone
The Great Escape
Goldfinger
2001: A Space Odyssey
Planet of the Apes (original)
The Deer Hunter
Dawn of the Dead
Full Metal Jacket
Predator
Die Hard
Heat
Black Hawk Down
Children of Men
Bourne Series
Casino Royale (with Daniel Craig)
Most of Japanese pop culture is infact inspired by the western culture.
If it wasn't for us, anime would not be drawn with too big eyes.
I find the Metal Gear series to be okay, but games like fucking Touhou and everything related to it is something I hate.
(One of my friends once kept sending me these gay fan video bullshits, and It hurted to watch them.)
No just no. MGS are fucking amazing series.
I have to say it, all these games like Metal Gear Solid and final fantasy makes me rage, all these "she-dudes" with long and gay hair
I'm happy for them, I mean - their hair is happy.
with all these stupid stories makes me think about how much the asian people are upset about their eyes (because all of their games, the characters has big fucking coloured eyes)
Have you actually played MGS - I think you'll find their eyes are somewhat realistic.
and come on! they suck, any american or european game can beat them, splinter cell is way better than metal gear, more realistic and a story that could be true in the reality
pahahahahahahahahahahahahah
no
no weird people all of them are normal, there isnt people with strange things in their eyes, no people with fantastic hairs in the middle of the battle (lol they have time to make up them) and ninjas everywhere killing guys that have fire weapons (come on, with one guy fire armed you can kill an army of gay poser ninjas) and evil clones or brothers (what a cliche).
I'm scared to think what you're playing if it contains normal people. Don't tell me Sam Fisher is normal.
And you can take my word, iam sudamerican and thats the point of view of most of the people i know
sounds like a bunch of bigoted assholes
This wasn't a good thread idea from the beginning, but you really messed up when you decided to take your Asian hate out on the MGS series.
Unsuccessful troll is unsuccessful, but I can agree with the "She dudes" thing, but MGS only has one "she-dude", Raiden (in MGS2 that is).
Plus both Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid are awesome, so quit whining about which is better, there both great game series.
Then why did you even make this thread. I don't see your point then.
im just saying what i think, im not discussing with you, they are facts

lol im not joking but i throught raiden was a girl
lol im not joking but i throught raiden was a girl
I thought that too, when I saw an MGS4 trailer.
Didn't know much about the series before MGS4, and yes, Raiden looks like a girl.
But other than that, there isn't much to complain about.
This is facepunch, do you actually believe people care about what you think?
[editline]11th December 2010[/editline]
I mean, if it's not too a weird thought, sure.
But something like this? Just spare yourself the flaming next time.
This is facepunch, do you actually believe people care about what you think?

i mean i wanted to say what i think and see if someone agrees
Raiden is a guy?
lol im not joking but i throught raiden was a girl
That is actually parodied in MGS2. The president thought that Raiden was a girl and grabbed his crotch.
That is actually parodied in MGS2. The president thought that Raiden was a girl and grabbed his crotch.
Say what?
Why would the goddamn president do that?

Well yeah that's my problem, your facts are wrong. Splinter cell isn't a realistic game and the metal gear solid story is based on real events. If you played the first metal gear solid you would know.
And there are she-dudes in western games too.
Besides, you even asked for our opinion, making this a discussion.
Say what?
Why would the goddamn president do that?
Maybe after being tortured by (and then killed by shortly after) an old man known for saying something along the lines of, "There's nothing like slamming a long, hard bullet into a well-greased chamber," the President wanted to do other things.

Yeah, I remember seeing all those Metal Gears in the news once.

Ahg, what the hell.
Fucking Japan.
Asians cannot make games. Fucking period. They stopped making good games since the nintendo 64 era, now all that comes out is cute mmo's and shitty dance games. Don't even get me started on anime drawing style either.
