Really lazily put together vocalization system. Do you have ANY idea how many lines are unused by both the L4D2 cast and L4D1 cast?
I was wondering why there was a (relatively) large amount of dialogue that I hadn't heard before while parusing through the game files and couldn't seem to find in game. Now I know why.
Shitty stiff reload anims. Really lazily put together vocalization system. Do you have ANY idea how many lines are unused by both the L4D2 cast and L4D1 cast? The fact Valve can't seem to give Zoey a decent playermodel without making her look like a man. Oh, and how could you have not been disappointed at Dead Center's mall? I was expecting it to be more like Dead Before Dawn's mall. Lively with an announcer and TV's, open shops so you can go in a look at the little things people love, "detail." But instead it's just a huge quiet dark wasteland, and that's very boring. Oh, and Rochelle. I'm not even bandwagoning here because I don't really care for her. She's the only Valve character EVER to be commonly known for being disliked. This is just pure fact, unfortunately. But kudos to everyone out there who does like her. Yeah, all together, it's still fun to play with friends and whatnot. But it just aggravates me knowing how much better Valve could've done, but they just didn't.
Left 4 dead 2 would've been really good if it took 2 years. Gabe's density.
Really lazily put together vocalization system. Do you have ANY idea how many lines are unused by both the L4D2 cast and L4D1 cast?
in single player they say every line in the game at some point and a big chunk are cut out of multiplayer entirely to get rid of the teeny tiny bit of performance loss and to make it easier to understand your teammates so they don't say random shit during a versus match :ssh:
So are you expecting a full game, or a 4 hour episode.
Hard to say, from what the developers have said im expecting a much larger episode than the other 2, we just have to wait and see.
I swear to christ if they make a new engine that is balls out amazing I'm going to rob a bank and buy a brand new PC, on top of Episode 2/3 and marathon that shit.
I used to check every couple of days on this forum for anything about Ep3. Now, I check about every 3 weeks to see any news, and there still is none. I should probably only check monthly now :smith:
If we dare see Episode 3 without dynamic lighting, or preferably an entirely new engine, then all hope is lost for Valve. Lately they've really been money grabbing and sucking other games dicks for cash because they can't develop fast enough.
I wish I was there when Half-Life (the first one, not 2) was hot shit. Too bad I was only like five or six back then. I played Half-Life 2, but for me, the Black Mesa Research Facility is the cooliest. I loved exploring that place with all of it's pseudo puzzles and with all the Marines trying to hunt me down.

Upgraded water and reflections maybe surface displacement and cloth. Tessellation (Tessellation can run on anything dx9.0c and up assuming hardware and software are both dx9.0c)
If we had dynamic sunlight lighting, a "layering" of textures on displacements and an improved displacement system I'd be a happy man.
Its because valve has gotten more popularity and has grown. They less frequently listen to customer feedback now when they were just a small gaming company. I really wish we could rewind the last 2 years, they changed so much. Dunno if it was for better or for worse.

Did you guys notice something? They spent the last 3 years making poker night. For now, we all wait for 6 years for a flash-game where you are a headcrab that jumps over things to proceed through ten levels that are screen-length.
Well since portal is part of the Half Life 2 story, i say maybe one year after Portal 2 is released on Episode 3, since Borealis has portal shit on it.
Portal 2 takes place 200 years after the events of Half Life 2.
I like Valve, but I wish they would stop with all the multiplayer games. Sure, some are pretty good, but I don't have good internet and would rather play a well-done single player game instead of a multiplayer game with no story.
What's with all the people wanting a new engine? I like Valve's concept of updating Source engine again and again. Since it's used for almost all of their games, all those games benefit from new features or optimization, too. My Half-Life 2 looks fantastic and it runs on hundreds of FPS. I don't know another game like that.
Whatever happened to the golden age It's gone yeah it's gone awaaaaay
HL3? The hell? It's Episode 3. HL3 is all the episodes basically.
It's funny because It's true.
It's funny because It's true.
I see what you did there
Valve needs to stop wasting there time on EP:3 (if they are working on it) and actually create something interesting. In my opinion.
Valve needs to stop wasting there time on EP:3 (if they are working on it) and actually create something interesting.
stop having fun guys [editline]10th December 2010[/editline] just accept the fact that plenty a people like the saga
Was just stating my opinion. Edited my post.
I'm not a retro gamer i'm not a faggot that complains about everything and i'm not into bandwagons but fuck, i miss the time half-life (i mean the first one) was at it's peak with it's mods and stuff Had a wondeful time playing natural selection and sven coop. The half life 2 mods aren't as awesome as the half life ones were. I'm really impressed by empires mod however, but it aint exactly populated, but enough to play with out a problem.
They are working in Episodes, they have said time and time again that there will be NO Half-Life 3. Only Ep3. and it will be a 40+ hour piece of glorious episodic content. Edit: Also only about 60~ are working on Half Life afaik
Wait, they are going to release Ep3 and not HL3 or they said that they are not going to release HL3 ever? They could be working in both, that happened with Ep1 and 2
I miss when HL2DM had a decent community and when people still played GMod 9
Disregard L4D2 we all know it sucked
The storyline for it sucked, in my opinion, i liked all of the dlc that they're adding, but the process of porting the L4D1 maps into L4D2 seems stupid to me.......the only pro of that is that the L4D1 characters can use melee weapons...........i think that that kills the overall playing enjoyment for me. But, i like The Sacrifice and The Passing add-ons.......only because it has all of the characters....minus bill T. T An addition to this is a reply to Raptortheawesom's reply. Now HL2DM is filled with hacking newfags who don't know how to play right. And, Gmod was always awesome. That is all
They aren't though. COD games despite having repetitive and bland game play are infact extremely well done and polished. There are rarely any bugs in the campaign. The HL episodes are just as bad as the new COD games. It's the same weapons we've been using forever, maybe 2 new enemies, a few scripted sequences and get this - physics prop puzzles! ~:obama:> Haven't seen them before!
:commissar:
I hope the reason it's taking so long is either:

They are overhauling the engine, Valve used to be technology juggernauts. Source was king when HL2 came out. Now they are the single most regressive and turtle paced technology developer I know of.
It's full length, we didn't wait 3-5 years for them to sit with their thumbs up their arse and putting out a half assed 3 hour game.
All of the above.

:v:
:commissar:
Its true, HL2 couldnt be more generic.
