Well, the killcams were added to DoD and CSS, and they said that in DOTA2, players would receive awards for contributing to the community by writing tutorials, wikis, etc., which is pretty similar to the Propaganda Contest/Mapper's Medallion/Polycount/Wiki Cap/Community items in TF2.
Black Ops is much more fun than HL2 in my opinion.
Explain why HL2 is better than CoD Black Ops. No HL2 fan was ever able to answer the question why HL2 is that awesome.

I agree, the AI in CoD is horseshit but HL2s AI is not that good as well so that cant be such an important aspect of why HL2 is that great.

let's just hope something good happens after the realease of portal 2. I can understand the last episode takes longer because it has to close the story arc, but what I don't get is why hasn't Valve released at least some images, teasers, some sort of prove they're working on it...

Opinion? I for one think that the Half-Life universe is a thousand times more interesting than most other game-verses (whatever), and CoD to me has transformed from being just another ww2 shooter to being just another modern warfare shooter. I also think that Half-Life offers more interesting enemies and weapons. Sure, the CoD titles are arguably good games and they are more cinematic than the Half-Life games, possibly also better at some points, but they just don't entertain me as much as any Half-Life game has done.
Well I guess the Universe/Story is personal preference!
Im not saying CoD is the "1337 best gaem evr zomdg" in my point of view it just seemed a lot more interesting than HL2.
Just wanted to know this since everytime I asked why everybody liked HL so much, the answer was always the same.

Seems clear now since I, for example, enjoyed the latest AvP game a lot but everybody else seemed to hate it.
Its all personal preference I guess.

I agree. It's partly the established setting for me, but it's mostly the design I think. Sometimes there's combat, sometimes there's puzzles (tho the seesaw puzzle is getting old - you have a physics engine, we get it), often you can find memorable scenes like HL2's trash can cop, Episode1's cheesy Zombine scene (and the frikkin Stalker train), Episode2's fight against gazillion antlions together with two guys that argue like an old married couple - even tho none of the moments mark major dramatic or story-relevant points (well, the antlion fight a little bit I guess). And when I listened to the Dev's Commentary I felt like exploring the world a second time. I'll definitely take more time to explore Episode 3 and just gaze upon its art direction and design rather than searching out the next conflict.
And yeah, the story is pretty interesting to follow, the characters are very fleshed-out and I like the humor. I'm also guilty of being scared by that one frikkin poison headcrab surprising me from behind while looting a crate of goodies. I felt so dumb after listening to the Dev's Commentary especially referring to that one scene.
So yeah, to each their own, Half-Life 2's universe as a whole is just much more interesting for me.

What make the differnce is that HL2 is older, also BLOPS is a more realistic story, at difference of HL that you have all that fictional weapons and shit. They're both different, you can't compare them
I've watched Valve since I was 8 (16, now...). I started when my friend's dad allowed us to use his old computer to play Half Life and Team Fortress. I consider myself apart of the old breed.. I played, laugh, and smiled whenever I got glitched on accident in some crappy Team Fortress map. I remember when the AI of a marine busted once on Half Life, and he began attacking other marines... It was awesome. I still remember playing DoD 1.6/CS 1.6, and seeing the banner for Half Life 2's arrival being used as, "THIS SERVER IS HOSTED BY"
I've been around enough to just put out my opinion... Half Life is pretty much dead to me. Knowing the pace of Valve... My not-born-yet children will most likely be using my steam account before Valve releases Episode 3.
In correspondence to CS1.6/DoD1.6... It's a golden age which has been lost. I still see a ton of great players on there who tell me similar stories, and all we can do is relax, and think... What's next? Will the next day be an awesome relief of Episode 3? Or will we be forced to watch as Duke Nukem Forever tramples the Half Life series. I don't know really... I'll just sit back, and watch as the old breed slowly dies away, and slowly but surely hope is lost for the half life series.

i think that valve should release the two remaining meet the team videos and then abandon that game.
then finish portal 2 with all engine upgrades
then put dota onto one side
get a small team to make day of defeat: source less shity
and have everyone else who can make episode 3- make episode 3
