If he didn't want to milk people he wouldn't have removed this line from the license, pretty obvious. The people will only have to pay $15 for the beta and nothing more, the only things that will cost money are the future gamemodes. He won't make alpha people pay for the gamemodes, he said so in the blog post.

Now that the beta is here you pay full price to have it immediately PLUS owning it forever, including the full release version. Also Patcher I'm pretty sure the issue is that alpha and beta buyers will be treated differently, i.e. beta people will 1) have to pay more for the game itself, and 2) pay for expansions, while alpha people are cool, $13 and they get everything else for free.

Minecraft isn't ready for beta yet in my opinion. There are so many bugs and things that need ironing out. Also notch's networking is kind of terrible, and there's no prediction so even if you're on a server that isn't lagging, it will feel like you are. I dunno, he just seems to be rushing this a little.

On almost all videos I use a curves effect to smoothly increase contrast, then I decrease saturation. Then I might use another curves to pull down the blue channel on the high end to warm the highlights.
