Minecraft Thread v49 - Sucked Into Another Dramansion!

Notch should make some super hard strong quest for indestructible tools. Like crafting in tf2 to make a hat if you have nothing in your inventory (I'm not talking about the hats in minecraft, just put an example of hard work that depends more on luck to do). For example you need some metal that is about as rare as diamond, to gather it you can use only a diamont pickaxe that is more than 50% healthy because it takes 50% health of the diamond pickaxe in one use. Then you need 9 of those metals to make one good and craftable metal part instead of 9 ores. And you do tools of this good metal parts. Profit: indestructible tool. (And then you get pushed into lava accidentally and throw your PC out of the window)
Really, he should make big goals like that. Because after I have built my gigantic fortress out of adminium, have two stacks of diamonds and completely hollowed out everything in the area, it's getting boring. Not because I got bored of the game, no. But because I have nothing to reach for. But when I start a new world it's fun again, but sad a little because all those resources...

As long as it isn't hats , because that shit would fuck the game to no end, GRIND FOR HATS EVERYONE
Am I the only one that thinks a narrative really really doesn't belong in the same gamemode as what Alpha is now? I don't care how loose it is, having a story for me to follow makes it not my game to play anymore. If I have instructions, even little ones, it gets rid of what Minecraft is about. I'm fine with it being in Adventure mode or one of the other gamemodes Notch has mentioned, but I really don't think a story-driven plot belongs in the game as it is now.

I'm not talking about hats in Minecraft, I'm just using the long process of crafting as example

I think Notch knows what he's doing.
I make sure to play the game a lot, and I've built my share of towers, and flooded my share of caves. If something ever doesn't feel fun, I'll remove it.
To be honest, I see the current survival mode as a playgroung to test new things and fix engine bugs. It's ultimately raw in my (and maybe Notch's) eyes. Real survival will have a lot more interaction and feedback from the world than just animal mobs and placing/destroying blocks. Maybe some other player mobs, maybe caravans done by enemy mobs which you can rob, maybe some small lone houses or big villiges with population or abandomed ones.
so what are the best mods for minecraft

Why do majority of people when playing some games always try to find some mods for it? For me personally, it has laways been that Vanilla is better, no exceptions.
Server is back up, please join.

Could someone please put the grass (under the wheat) from this into Doku's RPG pack?

I've been working on a little castle in single player the last few days. It's not finished yet but the castle itself is. The canal around my castle works as a trap, everything that falls in it floats to a central room with a drowning trap (3rd picture). To farm all the obsidian I made a obsidian factory, put my guy below it, dropped something heavy on my mouse left key and went afk for 1 hour. I also spend several hours finding sheep for the white tiles, but it was worth it in the end i guess.
Because Minecraft as it is now allows for greater flexibility in construction, if you could only place elements of buildings instead of the bricks, stone, etc., then we wouldn't see these magnificent architectural wonders in SMP, we would just see shitty huts everywhere.
Edit: I got marked down for run-ons and comma splices a lot in middle school.
It will be something like MCedit instead, imo
I'm worried, my new computer runs minecraft worse than my old one :ohdear:
While trying to fill my Castle moat with Lava. I died two times in the process.
One where I was collecting the lava. Lost a few stacks of items, few buckets and all my diamond tools.
Remade most of my diamond tools and then went to fill my moat. Let go of shift while on the edge and fell straight in and lost all of my diamond tools again, all my buckets, everything.
FML.
Castle moat still not even anywhere near done.

I'm sure there was one Notch made on www.minecraft.net though.

Yeah, it's cartographer. Notch made a previewer at www.minecraft.net/preview.jsp or something like that, but it hasn't worked since Stairs were implemented since he never put in an overview graphic of them, so he just took it off the site.
That was it. Sorry, I haven't played Minecraft in some time...

SIGH. You start your ascent. It's gonna be a looooooong night.

You are now Zoey. You're lucky you have your tracksuit or it'd be mildly cold out. The wussy men have left you 4 dead (some sort of pun, you assume), presuming you WERE dead. You got knocked out in the helicopter crash and have recently woken up. The boys all went off in their separate directions. You caught sight of Louis way off in the distance and decided to follow him, but now you've basically given up and decided to set up camp for the night.
[img_thumb]http://i52.tinypic.com/xqkgud.png[/img_thumb]
In your inventory is a bunch of clay, a large amount of sticks, some cobblestone, some cigarettes, and a diamond shovel. Lucky you!
You keep all your stuff in your tracksuit pockets. You seem to have picked up a pack of Bill's cigarettes somewhere, though you don't even smoke. Unlike the boys, you've thought ahead, and have gathered a huge bundle of sticks. Unfortunately you don't have any way to light them, but you may find something along the way as a natural survivalist.
Like you thought earlier, you've basically given up on looking for Louis. It's best at this point to just think of a way to survive since it gets pretty cold at night. They always say it's always warmer underground, and you DO have a diamond shovel...
(If all this character stuff is disorientating you, don't worry, we only have Louis left to go and then we can go on with the plot!)

What is that sexy sexy texture pack?

And some of them do I think, I believed i saw a miner's hat while on peaceful.
Too bad my home only will get filled with herobrines because they spawn on wood, settlers on cobblestone :saddowns:

Miners! (on peaceful)
I don't want to have Herobrine in my MC:ohdear:... I'd be perfectly happy with all the others though
Welp, I got tired of looking at cobblestone so I just replaced the cobblestone texture with the stone texture. You may think "How can you tell the difference now?" Well, since you can't actually obtain regular stone without smelting it first, it's sort of self explanatory. Cobblestone looks sort of ugly for building when not in brick form anyway.

Illinois got hit HARD, man, holy shit. My dad took one step outside, said "nope!", turned around, and called his boss saying his car was literally buried up to the doors in snow. It is, too, the tires are totally covered in a shitty freezing white blanket.

Yeah, Minneapolis and St. Paul got it pretty well too, I think last thing I heard was a foot of snow, give or take.
But alas I live a bit north of the cities, and we didn't really get hit hard at all, it's just way too fucking cold.

Well fuck, looks like I forgot to make one side of my house. Looks like it's gonna be a rough night.
