Only if their limited to like wood, trees, doors, dirt, etc. Breaking through rock would be a bit unrealistic (Even though we can do it ourselves apparently..)

so there i was mining a little path though a hill to make a shortcut to my base from my strip mine where i can run my minecart down
it only needed to be two blocks high and one block wide so what the hell, stone pick and little mining later i notice it's getting darker
no biggy, i guess i'll almost be though in a moment
i turn round to see if it's too late to walk out that side

when i notice a figure in the light..
it starts running towards me

well.. i freak out big time and drop my pick in fear and start clawing at the dirt in hope i can make it
when he starts hitting me
right now i should mension that i am shouting really loudly
and with my last heart i claw though one block to see light
where upon, i die..
