I hope one day that happens to you
Im not gonna respond to that, because I don't want to cause Drama. ----------- Drama ends here
I'm glad I got my sister into Minecraft.
Techincally he hasn't said that future updatess will cost money. He's just said that he can't promise anything.
Yeah, maybe I'm getting this wrong. Now that I think about it, I think the lawyers made him take it out incase he wants to charge for a later add-on, but that promise says he can't and he gets sued or something.

Umm, sounds like milking to me. Its as if he doesn't just want to state there will be future DLC or something, or dare I say.. a monthly cost
Well, apparently he removed that line because it was scaring his lawyers and stuff. I'm pretty sure it's only because they want to be able to make exceptions if he really needs to.
Reposting, because nobody commented or gave suggestions at all: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4861882/autismcraft/diamonds.png
It's cool, but I sure as fuck hope you know Doomish is making v50, he's had it called for 10-15 threads now.
So happy that i got Minecraft since alpha Also, considering that Minecraft will go beta on 20 december,it's kind of scary.
It's not Doomish, nor me, nor you
What? Unless something's happened that I don't know about, Doomish has had v50 since v38, everyone agreed on it.
Latest finished project on Neon's. First 5 levels are maze. The next 3 levels are castle floors. Top floor being the most spacious, open and luxurious.
He's not greedy, his advisers are
@notch Markus Persson The "all updates free" still applies to old accounts. We're taking it out because it scares both lawyers and the board.
You guys are making my creations look like crap. Good job.
The more I think about it, the more angry I become. Segregating some players because they didn't discover this in time? At least make it so Beta players get the add-on stuff for free too, but people who get it after release don't...

Yeah, maybe I'm getting this wrong. Now that I think about it, I think the lawyers made him take it out incase he wants to charge for a later add-on, but that promise says he can't and he gets sued or something.
That's how I see it as well. On Notch's twitter: "The "all updates free" still applies to old accounts. We're taking it out because it scares both lawyers and the board."
So guys, what server that is based in Europe should i go to if i want to play with some FPers?
God damn, Notch makes a very inexpensive game that is of great quality with constant updates and then promises to give free updates and addons to a huge part of the community that supported him in the alpha stage, and you guys call him out for charging beta users? He can't exactly sit on his ass for years releasing DLC for free.
i almost feel like the prices should have been reversed, $15 for alpha since you get everything after it for free, then $10 for Beta since you only get the beta stage up to release.
I think it should be like 3-5 dollars for new updates. That way somebody could select certain updates that they want without having to pay like 100 bucks.
Wait, what? We're going to have to pay for updates? What the fuck did I miss?
Just used mcpatcher for fixing HD skins and now my game is fucking blackscreening at start. Is there a newer one?
What, notch, 1 million dollars wasn't enough?
Guys, read the thread. He's removing the 'you get free updates forever' line on 20th december so even if he does decide to charge for future updates (he hasn't said he will) alpha users will be unaffected.
Aww. Better Light completely rapes my FPS. :saddowns:
Reposting for Clairity.
The next epoch is upon us! The skies are trembling, pigs are growing wings, and the nether is turning awfully cold, as Minecraft slowly crawls out of Alpha.. Minecraft will reach Beta status on December 20th, 2010. With Beta comes a larger focus on polish and content, and we’ll start early on with adding proper modding support with a stable API, and we’d love all input we can get on this from the modders out there. We’ll also add some kind of non-intrusive narrative to the game to help drive the game experience early on, and to provide some kind of late game goal. There will be a bigger focus on testing and stability as well, with more time between updates. When the game enters beta, the price will rise to 14.95 Euro. We will also change the license to remove the line that promises all future versions of the game for free. Please note that this change only affects people who buy the game after December 20, so if you got the game for during alpha, you will still get all future updates for free, despite this change. A promise is a promise. Buying the game during beta will include all updates up until release, of course, and bug patches will be free. Soon, you will be able to buy gift codes for Minecraft, perfectly timed for the holidays! Even better, if you buy those before December 20, accounts created from these codes will count as alpha accounts, and will receive all future updates for free. And the next game update (with server-side inventory) is coming next week, before Beta Merry holidays happy! :D
The Charge only effects people who bought the game after the 20th.
Guys, read the thread. He's removing the 'you get free updates forever' line on 20th december so even if he does decide to charge for future updates (he hasn't said he will) alpha users will be unaffected.
It's the fact that he said he'd never ever do this and now he's doing it that bothers me. I know I'm not going to have to pay, but minecraft is a cash cow and notch seems to be developing dollar signs for pupils.
And possibly nightly beta builds.
