Just because you don't like them doesn't mean they suck, They are moving towards the younger audience on some of their games because kids are starting to play at 8 years old or something wild like that now.

I'm still enjoying Spore
If they made it so the "evolution" of your creature made more sense, was more gradual, and wasn't so linear, that would be great. I remember in an interview how they were saying that before they simplified the game they had a system where the way you shaped your creature actually had a huge effect on his attributes, and it actually took into account factors like weight and balance. They said somethihng about how creatures could have a speed difference of 1%, that's how precise it was. Now everything is just a series of parts that you eventually just go through in "levels". Level 5 strike, oooh, how innovative. Plus being an herbivore was just boring. Dance at eachother?

Cell stage is by far my favourite, and least screwed up since before EA-ification. It has character, doesn't get boring quickly, and it feels the most polished. Everything else looked like the game made in heaven in 05, heck, even late 07. I'm considering getting Galactic Adventures but for 50 dollars it looks a bit of a ripoff (i'm in Australia). I don't hate the game as much as everyone else who got sucked in pre-08, but I was impossibly disappointed.

Doesn't change the fact that the game feels like it is meant for 10 year olds.
I really enjoyed it if I'm honest, I could never see why people got so pissed off about it. I suppose it's because I hadn't been following the hype and only got excited for it about a month prior to it's release.

They cut out a lot of the stuff they promised in the hype.
cell stage? awesome. Creature stage? I loved it, making different creatures like ones with massive dragon wings...priceless Tribal stage? Horrible. Honestly. Industrial stage (or whatever)? Jesus christ how could they fuck this up so hard space stage? The worst. They fucked it up, the absolute first fucking thing I tried doing was landing on another planet to explore. Guess what? fuck you, you can't do that! The last few stages is basically; "Fuck you, you can't do that".
I'm glad i never bought it. Even one of my freinds who bought it didn't have any expectations of it (i think he fished it out a bargin bin) and he still said it was rubbish. Will Wright had such fantastic ideas for spore waaaay back when he first came up with the idea. I can see how the conversation went. EA Exec: So will we can see you've generated much hype for this new game your making, Thats good we want as many people as possible following this game. So how far has it come. Will: Welll as you can see here, we have gone for a very scientific approach. EA Exec: Yeah thats good and seeing as some fans are following it they wont mind a few changes will they? Will: What changes. EA Exec: We need to appeal to a broader audience. For staters we need you to remove the gore. Will: Well i can get that done at a push but... EA Exec: and also remove the whole "WAR" thing, we don't want to be giving little kiddies the wrong message now, do we? Will: Little Kiddies? EA Exec: Which brings me to my next point. You are to re-style the game to make it more child freindly. Will: *Leaves room* EA Exec: And now we need to add some mission to that "sandbox space stage", Who the hell likes sandbox games anyway? Will: (Off in distance) FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCK! I will ruin these bastards if it's the last thing I ever do! EA Exec: Now to stick in that wonderful securom to stop peop[le buy and selling this gamne second hand. And lets add install limits to make them call our premuim rate helpline. And we're done! Will: Hey aren't you the guys who make the CmC series? Yeah thats right, i'm sims creator will Wright. I thought i'd help you guys out with your next title. RPGs are pretty popular these days. And people don't want normal bases, make them build everything on a mobile platform. Trust me this will be huge....
I only got up to Tribal stage, but it was great. Loved it. Though civilization and space stage look a bit lame.
Good but after the creature stage it comes to shit.
It would have much better if it hadn't have been 'babifyed' by EA. I was hoping for a real serious simulator that was still fun.

It's okay. I would have liked it more if it was done the way Will wanted it to be done, the procedural generation stuff looked really nice and realistic. I loved how the creatures would react according to how they were built, a top heavy creature would sway from side to side while turning, for instance. The current version we have now doesn't have that, a top heavy creature will most likely just turn like any other creature, you can make a really long creature with one leg and it will balance somehow. Another thing that bugged me was that the stages were pretty repetitive, creature stage was mostly farming XP, tribal stage was mostly spamming a single unit, same with civ, cell wasn't even much of a stage, the only stage that really stood out for me was space. I do have my reasons for hating space, and I have my reasons for liking it, it was the best stage. I didn't like mining spice, but I did like some of the missions and it was fun exploring. Spore isn't my favorite game but it did okay. I wish they could have let Will have it his way :(.
I didn't get hyped up for it because i knew i'd just get disappointed and in turn i thought it was a pretty good game. I even told a lot of people i know not to let themselves get hyped up because they'll get disappointed and was just given a "shut up it's going to be awesome" then when it was released "what this game is shit"

Spore is boring, annoying, and over-simplified once you get to the space stage. Throughout all the planet-based stages, you control larger and larger groups of people and units, but suddenly at the space stage you're back to one unit of direct control. The fact that you can't build fleets, with a balancing system like the one in the civilisation stage is ridiculous. I forget exactly who it is that is responsible for Spore being dumbed down like it was, but if I see him I want to give him a punch to the nose for it. If only the Heavy Weapons Guy was real I'd invite him to do the same.

Will Wright Didn't fuck the shit up, EA Totally remade the fucking game EA Made Space stage, and cut out a FUCK ton of good things to make it suit all gamers, including console fags who only own a pc for the internet, except they fucked over real gamers.
