I enjoyed it when it first came out, I revisit it from time to time, but it's not something I play every day.
same
EA didn't develop it. Maxis did. Maxis chose the direction they took.
And they took the right one.
And they took the right one.
How did they take the right decision? It cut out a lot of the features people expected, and the low quality coupled with secuROM pretty much made it the most pirated game of '08.
The thing I hated the most is that no matter how weird and wacky you make your creatures and vehicles, they all end up the same anyway. You're given the illusion of creativity, constantly being fooled into thinking you're making an amazing and unique design, but what you're actually doing is choosing pretty parts and funneling your design into a category.
They made the right decision because if they did keep the blood and all the 'hardcore' stuff that people expected the game would have still sucked and less people would have played it.
They made the right decision because if they did keep the blood and all the 'hardcore' stuff that people expected the game would have still sucked and less people would have played it.
It wasn't about the blood. It was about how difficult the game was. It wasn't just silly little add-ons, it was a completely different game, and not like the 'baby game' it is now. You had real choices, but now everything is just aesthetical. I could make the fucking Notre Dame, or created some sort of mutated monstrosity, and it wouldn't make a difference from if I made a wall with sticks on it, or a foot with an eye.

well they did promise us alot more before it came out... e.g. there was an underwater creature stage which would have been cool but it was ''too long'' so they scratched it ): i still think its an awesome game to because of how much imagination you can put into it xD
I only really played it for a day at a friends house, it's not that great. Creature creator is a good time waster though.
I want to play this:
I fucking cried when I saw that. Thanks a lot. OK, done crying. EA is the reason I never buy Clorox.

In the end, you're just playing this sad little game where you sell spice and respond to constant attacks. Maybe some twats out there enjoy games that only have 2 things to do, but I like mine to be good.
Maybe some of you guys should install BetterSpore, sure Spore by itself isn't a great game, galactic adventures does revive it if you get cool adventures although I prefer spending my time making them and playtesting them. As I said, BetterSpore improves on a lot, including the "game was too easy" part that a lot of people complain, and it adds a ton of new stuff.
The problem with Spore is it has zero gameplay. For one, nothing you make actually matters. A MOUSE is just as capable of killing as a T-Rex in Spore, same goes for every other stage. Then like someone else already said, the "evolution" happens too quick, it's like going from this: Then straight to this: It would have been SO FUCKING EASY to make Spore an unbelievably epic game, but Maxis is just not up to the job, they have no vision or creativity.
It was fun at first but every awhile it just got boring there was not enough game play to keep me playing. If there was much more depth to the different stages like they put into simcity 4 I would played it more. Simcity 4 is still my favorite game and i still play it.
Then like someone else already said, the "evolution" happens too quick
You do realize physical evolution is controlled by the player, I take things slow and make slight changes every time until I usually end up with something upright and carry on to the tribal stage, ain't that hard
I wasn't even hyped and I found the game crap. Particularly Tribal stage where there was no challenge at all.
The fact that the game was utterly childish, and the fact that it lasts literally 2 days worth of play. I honestly played Spore for about 2 days, and I have yet to play it again, let alone touch it. My 4 year old niece saw this game, and frantically paraded it around in her arms just begging me that she wanted to play it. Really sends a fucking message to how shit Spore turned out to be.
Spore is a terrible game because it didn't even fit close to what it's hype was about, that and a few other things... For a game that I kept hearing was about evolution, I was exited... but when I played it, I was terribly disappointed because I was playing god, with 1 fucking creature at a time! It got worse when I found an article with a quote from someone who wished to use spore as an educational aid for an ID class (although I can avoid that, since I am near Dover County, muahahaha!) Another issue was the dumbing down of spore... One thing was the ability to befriend another species (yes, 1 species just going out and liking another, whole other fucking species!). There is also no changing of habitat... well, you could live near a few trees but that didn't change a thing. A lack of EVOLUTION, yes, there is no natural selection, just beating missions, getting points, and changing your creature with pre-made parts (where 1 generation could be as much as 10 million generations in reality), I don't think us humans needed points to get where we are today!

Haha, they killed their own money cow, that's sad. The cow never did anything to you man... Spore sucks. Expansion for it sucks (GA is the only 1, and it suck balls). Hope has fully been given up. And btw, you got Spore evolution wrong. It's from this to this to this then finally somehow to this PLUS THIS kkthx for playing w/ EA, bye!
Spore was a major disappointment for me. Their 2005 demo impressed me so much, but the release seemed like an entirely different game. I wish Spore had been more scientific, too. I hate that you can jump from an earthworm to an elephant in one go if you like. Not to mention that said earthworm could kill a tiger if it wanted.
I like making an ally then capturing all his planets.
