I think because it's the last in the series, it will be much more difficult (but still possible) to keep Shepard alive in the end. Or at least I hope they make it more difficult. In ME2 it didn't feel like a major achievement keeping everyone alive in the end, so much as it felt like a major fuck up if you didn't.

I feel dirty regardless of which choice I make in Bring Down The Sky, however there's some odd satisfaction with wounding Balak and watching him slowly bleed out in unimaginable pain. However, I can't help but feel that choice was too merciful for him, do you think it would be a worse fate to let him live, only to watch the nation he's so fanatical about crumble and (in the case of Mass Effect 2) get invaded by the very people he hates?

That would ruin them completely, being killable with a deus ex machina or something stupid. I mean in millions, possibly billions of years, only 2 Reapers have ever been killed out of what is probably thousands or hundreds of thousands of them. I want bioware to do something creative and not give us a cop out shit ending that's been done so many times before.
