Guys really, imagine a Mass Effect FPS in the style of Republic Commando (people also were worried that would be too dark and gritty.) Maybe that's what Bioware is going for.

The Mass Effect universe actually allows the existence of the Star Wars universe in it!
A Reaper would get dominated by a Star Destroyer.
The scale in Mass Effect is significantly weaker then most other Sci-fi games. In Mass Effect you measure things in kilo and megatons, with games such as Halo/Star Wars/Star Trek you're measuring in as high as teratons.
Best example: The Everest-Class Dreadnought fires a 20 kilogram ferrous slug at 1.3% lightspeed (for an energy yield of 38 kilotons of TNT.) In comparison, the average cannon on a super MAC has the energy equivalent of 51.6 Gigatons of TNT.
And these numbers only get even more ridiculous when you enter the world of Star Wars.
Don't get me wrong, I prefer Mass Effect over those, I'm just saying that the world of Mass Effect wouldn't last long against most other Sci-fi universes.
A Mass Effect FPS would be awesome. And if they included biotics it would be a nice change from the regular CoD and Halo clones.

I always thought that the Mass Effect universe sounded a lot more realistic than most sci-fi franchises.
You have to admit that a COD-style Mass Effect game would be incredible.
It would be to Mass Effect as Republic Commando was to Star Wars.
If they do it well, and do enough to make it stand apart from those games as well. It's just the way they said they were going for the COD audience, made me think they were just gonna try and make a COD-clone for some easy money. Though yeah this potentially could be very good.
They said... where? :frown:
I always thought that the Mass Effect universe sounded a lot more realistic than most sci-fi franchises.
Yea, a lot of sci-fi franchises kind of drift away from realism too much. Mass Effect tries to stay within the bounds of reality as far as a sci-fi game can go, while every other franchise preety much goes "fuck it" and has really stretched out nonsense.
A Reaper would get dominated by a Star Destroyer.
Moot point. The Reaper just needs sufficient time to indoctrinate the crew of the Star Destroyer, and convert it.
Plus, the main gun on a Reaper can take a chunk out of an entire planet. Way more powerful than the broadside batteries on an ISD.

I think that indoctrination takes days... didn't it take a week or something to indoctrinate Benezia ?
But shouldn't the Storm Troopers be relatively easy to indoctrinate?
Or is my SW data corrupted?

Fuck, now I wanna play this game again

ISD batteries on unshielded worlds are described as, "making rocks run like water and sand turn to glass." Plus the ISD is able to fire for elongated periods of time with multiple batteries, while a Reaper has to charge up each time to fire one round from it's main cannon.
Based on reading this hardcore SW fan's post about Turbolaser strength: http://www.stardestroyer.net/tlc/Power/index.html
Of course, with the energy required to vaporise the asteroid (~250 terajoules), a turbolaser bolt must have on the order of 3750 terawatts of firepower. The energy released would be approximately 4 times more than that of the Hiroshima bomb.
The average Imperial-II Star Destroyer had at least 36+ Turbolaser cannons.
I'm thinking of getting Mass Effect 2, but I have a question:
I haven't played Mass Effect 1, so will I still be able to understand ME2's story?

Play ME1 first, trust me.

Not really. In fact, the entire justification for your existence hinges on a relatively minor subplot from ME1. It'd be like watching Star Wars starting with The Empire Strikes Back. You'll be like "who the fuck is that blue glowey guy and how does Luke use magic?"

In KoToR Malak's fleet of a dozen ships destroyed the entire surface of Taris in a few hours. And the damage to the planet was done by a weapon fired at a Reaper not by one.

You'll manage to understand the story just fine, but you should play ME1 first, since ME2 is quite referential.

Also, your choices from the first game can carry over to the second, and eventually the third, so its wise to start at the first.

Play Mass Effect 1 first because it's a great game and you'll be missing out on a lot of story elements.

Agreed. Buy ME1 it's a great game.

Bioware could win: 1,2,3,4,5,10.
Also, why do they specify that the voice actor is human ? :v:

But what chance has is against its opponents? Mass Effect is fun for enthusiastsy whilst most of the other games are just for the crude masses:

They could win 6 as well.

Microsoft Sam may be trying to enter the game VO business.
Having just played Two Worlds Two, I'd say that Jennifer Hale is easily Oscar material.
And Martin Sheen could win, but his role is too monotone. Which sucks, because he's a fucking awesome actor.
